The good thing about rift is that we can get rid of our TrackIRs and get the one third of money back

Very cool comparison of VR HMD specs I came across. Of course some of them are not confirmed yet.
-
I was actually thinking about this before. There must be special relationship between Oculus and ED since probably only handful of Devs had access to HD prototype.
-
Oculus Rift Support Thread Yep I doubt the mainstream crowd will appreciate or even notice the sweetest part of what DCS has to offer. Sad but true
-
They claim that they worked on this project for 9 years! and all that have is this render! not even gaffertaped prototype. Smells like vaporware and riding on VR wave.
-
Very interesting idea - hand tracking on the cheap. If the time latency was low enough I could see it used to track finger switching in DCS.

I'm sure the community will come up with something to block or limit this add/logins nonsense. I'm not canceling my DK2 order. I think Facebook ownership will not affect the hardware part of the rift and with the extra $$$ may even speed up things. Just my two cents here.
-
I was waiting for too long... all these months of hesitation whether or not to buy DK1. Well since they did not announce anything relating release date of Consumer version I'm buying DK2. Probably will sell it later before CV release so why not.

Done! I'm joining the rift club - just preordered mine !!! Can't wait now!

I really enjoyed reading article about how is it like to drive SR-71. Link below: http://www.sbnation.com/2014/3/7/5447310/sr-71-blackbird-pilot-interview cheers

Hi JaBoG32_Prinzartus Well there may be problem with the cable if the extension is shorter than around 6cm as there will be no space for two plugs between base and joystick at least with the extension solution I provide. Maybe there is a way to modify original plugs and somehow rotate them slightly but I haven't tried it myself. Anyway for now I don't provide custom extensions apart of 8 and 10cm.

This actually may come as a another benefit. Not being able to see the keyboard will convince people to use TS on multiplayer servers - which is better for overall immersion I suppose, instead type-spamming chat window:)

Pozdrawiam

For sale custom made extension mod for Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS™ machined out of single piece of stainless steel with included custom extension cable. PURCHASE SITE LINK: https://sites.google.com/site/warthogextension/ The goal of this modification is to enhance experience of using TM Warthog HOTAS™. Introduction of the longer joystick arm ensures full usage of joystick excellent precision. Longer joystick throw comes with several benefits which among others include: - Increased precision during manoeuvres, in particular, fine adjustments (when flying in formation or during aerial refuelling) - Eliminates the need for joystick’s curvature in settings - Lessens the effect of “snapping to center position” when moving the stick through/or close to/ central detent. - Smaller stick’s centering force - Extension allows installing the joystick in off-center (twisted) position. It is a very useful feature when joystick is placed between legs. It allows you to rest your hand more naturally on the joystick and decrease tension in your wrist. It is also worth to note that extension mod does not require making any modification to your TM Warthog and can be de-installed easily. Extension is available in three lengths: - 80 mm ~3.15 inches [in stock] - 100 mm ~3.94 inches [in stock] - 120 mm ~4.72 inches [in stock] *purchasing one item means you are buying one extension and one cable. Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS™ is not included in sale. Prices for extensions: 80 mm extension + cable = £40 100 mm extension + cable = £40 120 mm extension + cable = £40 Packaging &Postage: UK= FREE USA / EU / Europe = £10.00 *Quick shipping from London, UK. Any question = PM me. International Buyers – Please Note: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying. Instruction: How to install the TM Warthog HOTAS™ extension. Please read fully before installation. 1. Unscrew original nut and disconnect the joystick from the base. 2. Plug the extension cable to the base and run it through the extension. VERY IMPORTANT: Ensure to plug it correctly. There is a black marker line on the plug which should be facing towards the front of the base. 3. Screw the extension to base. 4. Plug the cable to the joystick. 5. Position the joystick in the desired orientation and screw it to extension. I tested all the parts included in sale. All this Stuff is not our problem. It's commercial project and these things happen. Sadly all went public. But I'm sure the sour taste disappear once we start Migs engine!

Project complete! I have managed to complete my TM Warthog extension project. As planned it has been made out of single piece of metal, threaded on both sides with the modded ps/2 cable running through. The extension is (8cm ~3.15 inches) which is a sweet spot for me. I already spent over 10 hours flying mainly A10C and a few in Huey and I must say I’m very happy with it. I removed axis curvature in settings completely as the stick’s precision increased. I noticed this especially when trying to fly in formation or in air refuelling when that small stick movement is especially required. Another benefit I noticed is that extension lessens effect of “snapping to centre position” when moving the stick through/or close to/ central detent. Larger arm requires less energy to move the stick which still with extra 80mm returns to central position quite easily. I also made 10cm ~3.94inchs version and find them both equally good. The only difference of course is longer stick throw and smaller stick’s centering force. I’m planning to make them available for sale very soon. For convenience I will place them on Ebay if anyone is interested. I’m located in London UK and will be able to ship it to UK/EU. Prices for extensions will be: 80 mm extension alone = £35 + cable if required = £5 --> total £40 100 mm extension alone = £35 + cable if required = £5 --> total £40 Packaging &Postage = FREE in UK , probably around £6.40 to EU but will confirm Any question = PM me. Once I got everyting prepared I will place some info + link to Ebay in "For Sale" section. Stay tuned. EDIT: The extension allows installing the joystick in off-centre position. It is a very useful feature when joystick is placed between legs. It allows you to rest your hand more naturally on the joystick and lessen the tension. EDIT 2: The extension mod does not require to make any modification to your TM:Warthog and can be de-installed easily. You are simply placing a piece of pipe and cable between stock parts. EDIT 3:Added the installation movie:

+1 for finger tracking. As for modeling in-game pilot's hand ( and the rest of the body ) is not necessary, and super hard in my opinion to look natural together with the tracking. Cursor should be sufficient solution.
-
I don't see this as problem, good mouse solution for use in 3D is ok - i think. It shouldn't take long as well since they already managed to resolve issue with HUD projection.
-
well i'd like to know what kind of Rig setup ( and why so expensive :) i need to pull HD rift at 60fps- Any suggestions?
-
YES 4K looks sweet, but I think Even CV1 is digestible. Movement makes lines to disappear.
-
There is a very interesting tool, especially for people who don't have the rift, to understand how resolution/low persistence improves VR experience. Follow the link below: http://vr.mkeblx.net/oculus-sim/ use mouse + arrows to navigate have fun :)
-
Try taking off with only 20% fuel and no weapons to drag you down. I noticed big difference.

Oculus Rift Support Thread ^^ all these plus some serious Rig upgrade to pull DCS+EDGE @60+ fps for ultimate experience in Rift

+1 using both!
