  1. Thanks, I was using MT, but tried in normal mode and without the force enable VR shortcut addition, it still crashes. I do have developer mode enabled, but cant see anything in any settings regarding the proximity sensor. I did find sleep delay settings ( set this to 4 hours) This did not prevent it crashing again..... I did not realise you could use airlink to run DCS? I tried that, but performance was soooo bad, it was unuseable
  2. Hi, I have done a factory reset, still getting the issue..... in reliability history, I saw that OVR server.exe had stopped working, here is the details: Faulting application name: OVRServer_x64.exe, version: 54.0.110.284, time stamp: 0xb187d0a5 Faulting module name: OculusAppFramework.dll, version: 54.0.110.284, time stamp: 0xbed55e49 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00000000000f497f Faulting process ID: 0x1718 Faulting application start time: 0x01d99cf160155d64 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\OVRServer_x64.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\OculusAppFramework.dll Report ID: 9d2070d3-5ea5-45f2-af76-28307872b5ae Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Can anyone help? Have gone from being super pleased with new headset to not being able to use it in one week.....
  3. I have done a factory reset and software update for another issue and it seems I can now set things in ODT. So will try this. Is ASW only set up and turned on or off via the ODT or OTT, not within the Oculus software? Even though I have not been using OTT for the last few days, the settings I set in there relating to the quest link, are shown as applied in ODT. I thought OTT had to be running for any settings to apply? This is the case even though I have set everything back to default in OTT and restarted everything.....?
  4. Hi, as topic title, this in the last few days.......it means I cant load any pictures or files. Is this correct or an issue that needs remedying?
  5. Thanks, is there any kind of crash log generated anywhere within the Oculus software? I need to narrow it down to the headset, or a DCS issue....I dont have a crash log generated by DCS after the incidents, does that confirm its headset related? EDit: Just tried re setting from within the headset......when I released power and volume buttonss, I got a graphic of a small green droid, lying on its side with a hatch open on it showing a keypad underneath, with a red warning triangle and explanation mark above it.....Under there was text saying " No Commmand" Edit 2: Managed to do a factory re set, but still getting a crash. I have looked in reliability history and for each freeze / crash it says DCS stopped interacting with windows - hang type, "Top level window is idle" . Puzzled why I have no DCS crash log generated though. It seems to happen when I have been in the sim approx 20 - 25 minutes, each time.
  6. Thanks, i will try that....where is the reset done? Via Oculus home on the PC desktop or from within VR ?
  7. So this morning, my VR froze 3 times....at least one of those, DCS was still running on my monitor. Not sure if this is DCS related or quest related, how can I tell? I looked in the DCS logs file and there was no crash file, only the log file. Is there a crash file generated anywhere by the oculus software? I have had zero issues with stability up until now, seems strange to crash 3 times within 15 minutes..... Any ideas? Dont think I have changed anything.....
  8. ok, will try thanks
  9. Yes I am, but limit is set to the refresh rate, not 50% of it. No limit set in NVCP. I have changed nothing, it was working as it should, now, locked at 50%....
  10. I have as you no doubt know, been tweaking and setting up my new QP.....Today, I seem to be locked into ASW. Despite setting Off in OTT, I run at half whatever refresh I set. And in ODT, I am unable to choose any other option other than auto.....they are available in the drop down, but when I try and set something other than auto , I get an error message saying "Failed to change ASW to 2" This is recent behaviour, as the last few days, the sim has been running fine, sometimes, when not in demanding situations, running at full frames, IE 72, or 80 or 90, depending on the refresh I have set. Now, I am stuck at 50% all the time. I have restarted everything, including the PC, several times, but still cant get any change..... Can anyone advise?
  11. So what do people ( preferably Quest pro users with similar set up) think of the sharpening options found within OpenXR performance tools? Do they help at all? What type do you use? NIS, CAS etc) What percentage ? What performance hit is there ? Something in my settings has introduced a very fine but noticeable grainy effect, which I am pretty sure was there when i first started...It's not terrible, but i would like to understand how all these options work and what their effects are. Another query related to to this is FXAA & Anti aliasing transparency in NVCP.....Useful? or not? And why for either answer...... Thanks!
  12. Hi Virus, so I tried that mission for you, and was getting 32- 35 , sometimes 36 on take off, IE was running at half refresh or below, so was being pushed. I did notice some stuttering and ghosting, associated with the buildings only though, but it was not terrible and only happened at lower level flight. I found I could circle over rthe city at around 6000ft with frames locked at 36 and no issues. I am running MSAA x4 currently. Hope that helps!
  13. I don’t really see any artefacts from the ASW……certainly nothing like what you got using windows mixed reality. @VirusAM I would very much recommend getting a quest pro, runs great on my PC and the image clarity and comfort are excellent.
  14. It helped, but did not eradicate
  15. Hi, I am as you can see from the activity in this forum the last week, grappling with understanding whats involved with setting up my new Quest pro and how various settings work and affect what you get in the visual experience. In relation to the refresh rate settings, my card (3090) seems to run each setting in my test mission OK, the only difference being that on each settings, I am mostly, running at half of the refresh rate set, so either 45, 40 or 36. There is the occasional foray into full FPS, depending on loading. If I did not have the numbers displayed on the overlay though, I would be extremely hard pressed to tell any difference between the three settings. So my question is, given little visual difference and the fact that my card / PC seems to be able to run each setting OK, albeit, mostly at half the refresh rate in FPS, what is better and why? Should I run at 36 (72Hz) mostly? Or 45 (90Hz) And why? I have the ASW set to auto in OTT. Thank you.
  16. Nvidia 3090 , That actually helped fairly significantly...thank you! I would still be interested to hear from someone who knows about how the sharpening applied in both OTT and OpenXr performance tools works and its effects on what we see Cheers.
  17. OK, in the middle of a laboriuos process to try and pin down the cause, during which I have noticed something strange. I am using the supercarrier as a test, as it has lots of wires, cables etc that "shimmer" or show the sharpness well. Can anyone tell me whats going on here? I noticed with my head vertical, I get more noticeable jagginess on horizontal lines and edges. if I tilt my head 45 degrees left or right, it looks better!
  18. Thanks and yeah, I tried that before I posted as it seemed the obvious culprit, however, I always ran at 2x before and had no issues, running x4 does not seem to affect it. i was wondering if it was something to do with how the sharpening worked ?
  19. So I am super pleased with my Quest pro set up now, getting great image clarity and performance, however, I have one annoying issue...At mid to long distance ( not up close, there its super clear!) I get quite noticeable shimmering around the edges of things. Now this was not always the case, I think it has manifested somewhere along the way during my tuning of settings. I list my current settings below: In Oculus home: Set resolution to 1 ( 3936 x 1984) This for me gave the best combination of frame rates and graphics quality, along with the other settings below In OTT I have supersampling at 1.4, ASW on auto, in the quest link section encode resolution 3905, bitrate 0 dynamic bitrate & sharpening enabled, max dynamic 750 In ODT, I have FOV tangent multiplier at 0.8; 0.8 All other settings as default. In DCS, PD is 1, MSAA x2, Shadows medium, clouds high, textures high, vis range high, Anisotropic x16, terrain shadows off, No lense effects or heat blur, I set my GPU to 1770 mhz & 825 amps in MSI afterburner as above. In OpenXR perf tools, I have foveated rendering on set quality wide and the post processing for the sunglasses feature. Everything else off. What do you guys find has the most effect on firstly causing the shimmering and secondly getting rid of it?
  20. No, I have turned that off, so as Nikoel says in another post, the resoltion is only set once, in one place. For me, thats the Oculus home and I have it at 1. Then use supersampling in OTT (1.4 for me)
  21. Edit: sorted
  22. .8 for me…… I don’t want to lose any visual real estate!
  23. OK, thanks all.....its been an enlightening few days and everyone here has been so helpful. As the information is scattered across multiple threads and posts, I thought I would summarise here for others what works for me: ( i will caveat that by saying I dont have a deep understanding of how it all works, and there are others here who do, so ...) In Oculus home: Set resolution to 1 ( 3936 x 1984) This for me gave the best combination of frame rates and graphics quality, along with the other settings below In OTT I have supersampling at 1.4, ASW on auto, in the quest link section encode resolution 3905, bitrate 0 dynamic bitrate & sharpening enabled, max dynamic 750 In ODT, I have FOV tangent multiplier at 0.8; 0.8 All other settings as default. Everything else off The net result of all this in DCS in the F16 free flight mission & Banklers carrier case 1 trainer mission ( which can be demanding) I can manage 80 FPS most of the time with dips into ASW maybe 30% of the time? Have to say, if I did not have the FPS overlay from openXR performance tools, then I would not even notice the ASW was on and frames were lower, its that smooth. This is an amazing headset and my DCS experience is just fantastic now....I usually fly a mix of 2D and VR, and I have a really nice 2D monitor, but really, I am thinking I wont go back to 2D now, the headset is so light and comfortable and the image quality so good....Very happy! Thanks again to all who got me here!
  24. Damn, see, I had this kinda feeling that I was not doing it right! Thanks man!
