  1. OK, thanks - what would the advantage of that be, given that the ASW works so well on this headset?
  2. OK< thanks...one last query regarding power off on the main headset. Long press turns it off, yes? I do remember seeing power options in a menu from within the headset while turning it off as well. The confusing thing is I have used the long press, the headset makes a noise and then you get the LED white for a bit, then it goes amber...... if its still got lights on it, of any colour, to me that says it's not off completely.... Can it be powered off, yet charging and showing an amber ( charging) / green (charged) or red ( trickle) ? And if the answer to that is yes, how can you tell its powered off properly ? Sorry for the basic questions, again, I cant believe there is not instructions for all this included !
  3. So I am curious how you have constant 40 fps if motion reprojection ( ASW) is turned off?
  4. Plus one as I also notice some indistinct textures at distance.......may be related to draw distance, will need to look, but was not an issue with my G2.....
  5. OK< so I have some issue regarding charging with mine? Twice now, I have started using it, after carefully setting it in the cradle and then discovered halfway through my session ( so about 30 minutes) that its about to run out of charge........so right now, mine is sitting in the charging dock, the amber light is on? Signifying charging as I understand, yet its still at 3% charge after an hour which is what it was when I put it on there. I have ordered one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BS9C9RBZ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share on Dirty Mikes recommendation so hopefully will solve the issue. How can you tell for 100% sure its charging when sitting in the dock and is there a way to get battery levels displayed when the link cable is not plugged in? How do you tell power status when in the dock and do you guys power down completely before docking it? Should it be off when charging and only turned on in use?
  6. ?@sea2sky, are you setting that PD value in DCS or in the supersampling in OTT? Is the perceived wisdom relating to quest pro to leave the PD setting in DCS at 1 still? ( I have always read leave it untouched and change stuff elsewhere....)
  7. Hey Mike, yeah, after playing several sessions I can report it’s not all the time, just pops up now and then. Thanks!
  8. Not sure, still feeling my way....if I shut DCS, it does return to the grey grid room...... however, i am now using it controllers free, but do still have a persistent small floating box warning about the controllers not being on.....which i would dearly love to get rid of! Any ideas?
  9. I have separate profiles ( mostly, not made by me, someone with more skills did them!) for various jets for my Brunner FFB joystick. What other jets in DCS does the F1 most closely resemble in terms of how the stick behaves, the FBW system trim etc? For example, the Tomcat has no FBW system and the stick moves to the trimmed position. I want to make sure teh profile I use most closely resembles IRL behaviour.....
  10. I have MSI afterburner installed, can some one show where / how I access those adjustable settings, would like to try Tepnox's ones for the 3090.....on my GUI for the app, the core voltage, power limit etc are shown as percentage sliders, not values......
  11. OK, so for those who want to try this, the values are not persistent and so need setting each time you run DCS. ODT has to start first, you can start DCS from within ODT by using the drop down "File" "Launch app" & navigate to the DCS .exe of your choice. The format needs to be: 0.85; 0.85
  12. On investigation, the OTT setting is for the 2D monitor, so it needs to be set in ODT. I changed it from 0; 0 to 0; 0.85 ( I have no idea what the first zero and semi colon are? ) Is this correct?
  13. Does this has to be done through the debug tool, or can you use the FOV multiplier on OTT? in that there are 2 boxes for entering numbers into though....so how does that work? Can you use either?
  14. Hi Migo, thanks fr the reply, that works!
  15. Hi, so what's the difference between "Flaps full" and "Flaps full up" ? Also, where are the combat flaps and when / how should they be used? Also, ( I am not well versed in this so please excuse) in the screenshot of Caldero settings above, what is teh binding joy_btn22_off; joy_btn_23off doing and why please? Thanks - I have not really been flying the F1 much, but am planning to do so and would like to understand these basic points relating to the jet and controls mappings.
  16. Hi Rudel, do these edited values affect the views in VR or only 2D with trackir?
  17. These are proving to be a pain in the arse....... DirtyMike kindly told me the process to minimise use and avoid annoying messages to start DCS, then turn them off, which I followed and it worked yesterday......but not today! The issue is persistent pop up messages about the controllers not tracking and light levels that obscure the cockpit . I would be perfectly happy to leave the controllers turned on in which case, how do I avoid getting these messages? I would also be equally happy with them turned off while in DCS, which is what Dirty Mike told me how to do...... However, today, it does not...So here is what I am doing: Put on headset, get message about allowing files.....use finger gesturess to confirm. VR home room starts, get message about turning on quest link, which do, using the controller. VR room, changes to grey grid, with options bar at bottom. I select desktop and get my main monitor desktop up....so far, so good. At this point I am supposedly able to turn off the controllers and use my mouse to start DCS....... I press long on controller power button, to turn it off - it vibrates, and a floating message about controllers not being tracked pops up and stays, I can start DCS using my mouse, but the annoying message wont go away. I should have got a big message about the controllers turning off, but it does not come. How can I tell what state the controllers are in? And how do I leave them on, but avoid the messages? Regarding power on etc, and how pausing etc works, whats best practice. On my G2, once in VR, I could take off the headset and it would stay "live" for 15 minutes or whatever time I set in windows for it to turn off after inactivity. The QP behaves differently: If I remove the headset while at the desktop stage above, it beeps and then appears to sleep. If I then put it back on, I dont have the grey grid room and my montor desktop anymore, instead a black background with a notifications screen and options for the meta stuff. ( There is also a graphic of a controller with the pointer beam, what is that signifying? at this stage I have previously turned off the controller....)Which is really annoying....I just want back where I was when I removed the headset..! How do you get around this? The only way I have been able to do this is to power down using the side button on the headset then start again from the beginning. If I take it off while DCS is on, DCS will freeze and again, I need to quit using task manager, power down and start again. Is this right? Seems pretty clunky and crap to me......
  18. OK, so my next question relates to the openXR performance toolkit..... there are some things in there which it says dont play nice with ASW, so turned them off...... Whats peoples thouights on the various other settings in there? Such as resolution overide, sharpening etc? Currently, I have everything prertty much turned off..... @mike, will this do the same job as your linked charger hub? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Minisopuru-Hub-USB-Adaptateur-Ordinateur-Grey/dp/B0BGHVQNCH/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=miniso%2Bpuru&qid=1685692090&sr=8-4&th=1 I cant find your exact model on amazon uk
  19. I will try at 90 hz….my initial take on that in my test mission was that there was some jerkiness, but that may have been tied to the auto setting for the ASW….thanks
  20. OK, I have uninstalled WMRP and mixed reality for steamVR. I also removed the hand controllers, to re pair. However, they did not show in the device list to re pair? They just seemed to pair automatically. Did you have to pair yours like the headset? They work though so I guess thats all that matters. Cant believe there is no instructions from Meta regarding all this, you get sent the complex expensive device and are basically just expected to figure it all out yourself....not impressed! For example, there is a power button on the headset....so when and how should this be used? Anyway, I have managed to get it starting in the same way fairly reliably. When I put on the headset, I am in the VR home. The controllers let me click on the menu bar to turn on quest link, the room dissapears and I am in the grid, from there I can pick DCS from the left hand window of recent apps to run again. This works well now. No idea why I could not get it going before! That leaves the tweaking. I am after the best possible image at the lowest acceptable frame rate. I have put ASW on auto, set 72hz and 1.3% IE all the way to the right on resolution and 1.15 in OTT and it seems to run at 36 FPS pretty nicely, very smooth and teh resolution is insane....never knew DCS could look this good...... But there is bad.......how can I stop the really annoying messages about light levels for controller tracking etc popping up? They seem persistent as well, and are not opaque so they obscure stuff in the cockpit..... Also, it does seem a little flaky..a few times, it has frozen on me and I have had to kill DCS with task manager - usually when I remove teh headset to look at something, then there can be issues.... Thanks again for the help!
  21. Hi Tepnox, playing with settings...i dont have the 3905 encode resolution available to choose in my OTT, its 3648 or 3960 - why is that ? Are the settings available a function of other settings elsewhere?
  22. Thanks, I am letting the headset charge up ( I got the link cable to make sure it did not run down, so am confused as to how it has run down to 16% after only around 3 hours use today and all the while plugged in via the cable) The cable test ran OK during set up, so there should not be any issues there...? so will try and answer quickly for now: OK, I did not uninstall WMR as I wanted to assess the QP before I decided to keep or not. Whatever happens, though, I am decided to switch to the QP, its too good! So will uninstall now. Do you think maybe I should start from scratch again after uninstalling the WMR <profanity>? Dont remeber pairing the controllers, defintely the headset. But the controllers work OK. However I dont see any menu in the grey grid. You are being super helpful, cant thank you and everyone else who is answering enough! Going to pop out now while the headset charges for 30 minutes or so and get back into this then.
  23. Sorry Mike, this is really helpful, but in my windows settings, there is nothing referencing quest link? I have display, sound, notifications, focus assist, power & sleep, Storage, Tablet, Multitasking, Projecting to this PC, Shared experiences, Clipboard, Remote desktop...... If I put on the headset, I get the VR home room, with a window asking if I want to enable quest link. If I choose yes, the home is replaced by the grey grid and I cant access any menus etc using the controllers...is this how it should be? DCS only seems to launch when I use the old shortcut with the force openXR line appended to it. If I use a shortcut to teh .exe, it starts DCS, but not in VR.... When I turned DCS off, I get a black screen on my monitor, in the tool tray there are 3 windows open showing oculus mirror. If I turn these off using the X in top corner, the main desktop screen becomes visible again..... I dont really understand whats going on.....the battery seems to be running down in the headset, so maybe some issue with the quest link? How can I check if quest link is correctly installed? It does not appear in the apps on the start menu..... Finally, I have read so many threads and so many discussions on the settings, I think I have fried my brain...I cant decide what is the best setting from what people are saying....
  24. Thank you, its slowly becoming clearer. It did do an update yesterday, however, in my settings, under Beta, I only see 3 options....in your screen grab further up, you have several, I have turned on public test channel & demo mode, but dont see what you show..... Can you clarify what ODT is? OTT is obviously oculus tray tool. And to be clear, no edited shortcut is required, you simply use the MT .exe shortcut, with "Enable VR headset" checked in DCS. This will run DCS in open XR, via the oculus runtime, is that correct? Thanks again for your patient help!
