Anyone having issues with being able to set the options? In the options screen I set all my graphics settings but when I hit okay the button presses in but nothing happens. Only way I can get the options screen to work properly is by running dcs in windows xp compatibility mode.

Okay I just checked my windows update history and it seems that this update (KB970789) was in fact installed. So now I'm really confused... Why is everything in read only :(
-
It seems that all my drives and files and folder are set to read only. I've been reading there is a patch called CleanWin7rcroot.exe that supposed to address this? I don't see it in the windows update unforunately. Anyone have an idea of how I can get this file? I tried right clicking on the eagle dynamics folder and unchecking read only and applying. It does not allow me, telling me I need administrator permissions. How do I go about that? I only put one user name for my computer with no password. If I logout, there is no administrator button to switch to. EDIT: I just found that my username is the adminsitrator but I still cannot remove the read only attributes! Appreciate your help!

Anyone getting BS working okay in Windows 7 RC? I am having issues with changing settings. I go into the graphic settings menu and try to adjust resolution, graphics settings and switching to full screen, I then hit okay and nothing happens. I also tried going into the config folder, opening up graphics.cfg, changing the resolutions to my native resolution and setting full screen to 1, saving it off. Still no change. Please help =P

Thanks for the reply! Is that what the wingman selection actually does? It downloads the commanders PVI waypoints, targets, airfields and ABRIS waypoints?

Is there a way to simply replace your AI wingman with a client within your flight? I'd like to be able to convert the deployment campaign to coop MP missions so that I can fly them with my buddies. Also is there an easy way for the wingman that your replaced with a client to keep the same abris and ins data for the mission so that he has the same info you do and is able to share targeting information as well as radio calls?

This would be something great to fix in the upcoming patch. Would help greatly to look down at the controls and see that they are not centered to confirm that the aircraft is in some wacked trim state.

X52 Axis/Button Assignment Issues
Buznee replied to Buznee's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I did adjust the round metal knob. It adjusts the friction on the throttle slider but does not change the feel on the detents. I'll try assigning the Hat straight through DCS rather than SST. Thanks! -
Just to start, I am currently running the X52 beta drivers that resolve the right shift fix. I have trigger 1 for cannon and trigger 2 for release weapons. 1. It seems like the profiler does not seem to like alt-space for the second trigger. I've tried space-alt as well. When I run the test and I hit the second trigger, it says "menu" rather than "alt-space". For now I ended up having to change the keyboard assignment for weapon release in order for it to register properly. 2. I've been trying to get the 8 way hat to work for the skhval with no luck. I tried assigning the diagonal commands as follows ;, up left, ;/ up right ,. down left ./ down right When I try it in blackshark they do not register, but if I try pushing any of those combinations through the keyboard, it works. Not sure whats going on there.... 3. I've also tried getting the mini stick assigned to the axis controls for the skhval with no luck. 4. Can the clutch button on the throttle and the mode rotary on the stick be assigned as a standard buttons? I've tried assigning them but with no luck. When I try assigning the clutch, it goes through in the profiler but does not function in game. Instead one of the hat switch LEDs strobes in high intensity. When I tried assigning the mode switch, it does not seem like theres a feature for that on the profiler. 5. Can the detents on the throttle but adjusted/removed? I have a feeling I'll have to open up the throttle to get to that. Just find it kinda annoying that I have to push through to bottom out the collective. Thanks!

Jungle Strike was the best!

Yeah I just tried it, you hold right click on the knob next to the SAI and scroll until it locks. Then wait a little while until it centers, then scoll on it again until it uncages and then you can adjust for pitch.

How do you fast forward on a track?

It seems DCS renders the water even if you are over land, I'd like to be able to turn the water down to simple texture mode to improve fps. I did check the FAQs and there is this article describes the process. "Some graphics options can be set in the options.lua file found in the \...\BlackShark\data\scripts folder. Specifically, you can change water to either '1' (low setting) or '0' (texture only). " http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=572304&postcount=35 The English version seems to have different file structure and I cannot find that file. I did find a file called graphics.cfg in the config folder. Found a section in it stating "WaterQuality = 0;" Is this the setting for miminum texture? With this setting, it still seems to render the water is some kind of medium setting. Thanks in Advance! :)

Anyone having issues with the Standby Attitude Indicator losing calibration? I'm not sure exactly but I think it might be linked to when the schval screen reboots randomly in flight.

Deployment: Dusk (CAUTION!! SPOILERS!)
Buznee replied to Buznee's topic in User Created Missions General
the problem is i don't have enough vihkrs to take out everything that shoots back  Maybe i have to change my weapon loadout to all vihkrs.... EDIT: actually nevermind I can't carry vihkrs on my inboard pylons.... arggggg.. seems my only hope is to have my wingman successfully destroy a good bit of targets that fire back... -
Has anyone been able to successfully complete Dusk from the deployment campaign? I have been attempting this mission over and over and over again. I go in, wait for the SAMS to be taken out, then I get in and take out the 2 shilkas and use my vikrs to take out all the bmps. I then have maybe 3-4 more vikhrs to shoot at the tanks. I try to have my wingman take out as much ground targets as possible until both of us are completely out of ammo. Still no mission complete. Are you supposed to take out every single unit? How about the ammo tents along the side? I think thats a bit unreasonable for a 2 ka-50 team. I think its also a bit unrealistic that these tanks parked in this tank depot all have gunners in them. Wouldn't they just be parked there and not manned? Very frustrating... :music_whistling: Especially since I have to spend quite a bit of time flying back into the danger area from the base and can't save. I do have a track if you need to see what I tried. Also question... can you fast forward, or rewind in the track replay? That would definately be a nice feature to have....

Just thought you guys might want to take a look at this :) Eagle Dynamics should hire these guys to build the F-14 for DCS =) http://irissimulations.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=114&osCsid=3ca6c2a6b723b9b2f5cf5832bc734dc6 Check out the videos showing the amount of details in the systems!

The mouse look coupled to the mouse pointer is a great idea I wish it could be more formally implemented as an option. The only issue I have with it is I wish the view would have a smoothing characteristic so that you can move the pointer, wait for the view to move with a slight delay. So lets say your starting the engines, you go on the right side panel to open the shutoff valves for the engines, then move the mouse towards the left side and the view follows smoothly and when you stop the mouse the view settles. Sorta like your head moving with your hands. Maybe you can have a slider in the options to adjust the view smoothing and delay with the mouse pointer movement. Having the view move simultaneously with the pointer seems like a robot soldier. Does not feel natural and actually bothers my eyes after a while.

Problems with the Turn Coordinator bubble?
Buznee replied to Frederf's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I also had a bit of an issue understanding this but under closer inspection and analysis I think it makes sense. First of all the jitteriness I think is actually indicating the vibration the helicopter is going through. There should be more vibration in forward flight due to the lead lag motion / force caused by flapping and inputted from the rotor into the fuselage increases as you go faster and as you increase load factor. As for the issue with the turn coordinator causing the aircraft to be in a funky sideslip or condition when trimming to center it I think is mostly due to winds. The winds tend to naturally weathervane the aircraft nose-in, tail-out. Therefore naturally with wind the aircraft wants to point into the wind. This is similar to a fixed wing. Therefore when flying with cross wind the turn coordinator will show that the aircraft is slipping with respect to its flight track. If you correct using trimmer you will input a diff. collective (yaw) trim. If you have all the autopilot dampers on, the aircraft is going to try to keep the ball in the center all while keeping the same heading and constrained to a certain bank and pitch. This is while it is fighting the wind. Try flying with and without crosswind to see if there are changes in the way the aircraft looks when flying with the ball centered. I'm thinking more and more that with cross wind its okay to have the ball not centered because your purposely slipping the aircraft to minimize side fuselage drag. If you have the heading autopilot damper off, it should weathervane into the crosswind and the ball should not be centered... i think. I believe in route mode its difficult to get the funky uncoordinated look because the aircraft is trying to follow a ground course using mostly bank. If there so happens to be some cross wind and you trim the aircraft to keep the ball in the center the autopilot is going to try to keep the aircraft flying along the course by keeping the aircraft banked. In a fixed wing its like slipping the aircraft in using aileron and opposite rudder to keep the nose pointed towards the course, which requires the aircraft to be banked to keep it from slipping. Some-one chime and clean this mess up :megalol: -
since you lost both your hydraulics were the flight controls very sluggish? I would think that would be the case since they drive the actuators the tilt the swashplate.

how do you adjust the brightness of the NVG?
-
Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you have noticed any type of graphical glitches with the shadows. For example while on the ground I can see a discontinuity in the helicopter shadow (blades) from cockpit view. Also while flying the shadows sometimes show up in an unrealistically oversized fashion when flying over buildings. I can provide some screenshots soon if nobody else seems to have this issue.

I was able to blow up the house but I could not find the car, spent 10 minutes looking for it along all the roads through the town and turned to hover and did not catch the decent on time and fell into vortex ring and died.

Auto Turn to Target not working (solved!)
Buznee replied to RichardG's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
the trim reset button seems just as important as the trim button itself. Sometimes I also have issues where I'm hovering and can't get the aircraft to stay on one heading even after trimming again and again. Hit the trim reset, then hit trim again, problem solved  -
I wonder why these items were never made clickable. Doesn't seem like it would be a big deal, Just right click to go in one direction and left click to go the other. Or drag until they drop into the next detent. Would be neat if you could also click the door handle to open and close the door rather than having to remember r-ctrl + c.
