This is a good point. Perhaps when DCS World is out of its beta phase the downloads could be separated to their own pages to avoid confusion?

Thank you for this! I am glad to see things moving forward even though EDGE is on the horizon. (pun intended?)

Disappointing, but I understand. An NDA is an NDA. Thanks for adding closure though!

I call it...awesome. Hahaha! Well done!

It took me a few days to properly start up the plane, take off and then circle around for a landing. As simple a procedure sounds, it was still quite fun. And when you begin to do things correctly the satisfaction only gets better. As I became braver with the controls I eventually tried combat. A few more days of play I actually survived more often than not. Even with holes in my aircraft. Everything in the game is a learning experience and gets better with practice. It may seem daunting at first but the more you do things the more it becomes habit. Falcon4 was daunting as well, but I find A-10C to be much more rewarding. (Edit: The in-game tutorials are great to get you started. When you become more advanced there are also many tutorials on Youtube.) Keep at it and don't get discouraged if things go haywire. You might want to see a man about a few dogs as you play. (How's that for a phrase form the UK?) Intoxication only adds to the immersion...even if it may not help you fly. :) My play sessions only lasted about 2 or 3 hours at night due to time constraints, so your mileage may vary of course.

Wish I could help, but I have none of the above products. Did this work before your rebuild?
-
I hope so. I would love to hear the impressions of a tester. Here's to hoping this will be allowed.

Awesome, I've been hoping for news of a new patch for a while. Was worried the P-51 stole the A-10's thunder.

I call your bluff and raise you by 250...uhh...weeks.

Indeed! Eloquently stated :)

Sobek is correct. To add to that: the speculation only mentions ATI/AMD's implementation. I'd love to see further multi-threading/multi-GPU enhancements but this forum has proven more than any other I visit, that speculation cannot be taken as fact.

I think as long as you are successful in the campaign missions, you and your allies are doing fine. I don't think your side can win or lose the fight per se, but you as a pilot are either successful or unsuccessful in your deployments, but honestly I am not 100% sure since I have a bad habit of restarting the campaign. Edit: Wags stated there is 32 missions in the campaign

Excellent quote!

Flight sims are a specialized type of game, thus limiting the types of players who enjoy them. DCS takes it a step further by being a "study sim," limiting the players down to a comparatively small community of patient but technical few. Multiplayer further limits the number of players who might play. (Some players avoid multiplay altogether for any number of reasons) That said, I really don't understand why someone or some people would take the time to find out how the client communicates and functions in order to cause the issues listed in this thread, or take the time to ruin the enjoyment of said few. As an ex network security engineer, I understand the method and purpose of the majority of hacks, viruses, malware and social engineering. Simply put: to make or steal money. That isn't happening with this type of hack, so I am dumbstruck as to why anyone wastes the time to bugger up a dedicated server that exists for enjoyment of the DCS community.

Ahh, thanks 159th_Viper. You have saved my sanity, because I began searching the PDF manual and wasn't finding anything.

Put air brakes at 40%?? Is there a means to check the percentage the brakes are open/closed? If so, I suppose I overlooked it in the cockpit/manual. I have always "felt" my way through opening/closing the air brakes, or "cheated" by using an external view to make sure they were fully open or closed. Though I don't recommend my method to anyone, I usually come in a little hot and then fully open the air brakes, sorta timing it so I will be at proper speeds when my wheels touch where you see the landing skid marks on the runway. I seem to have it worked out so that I do not damage the aircraft and make a good landing more often than not, but I would prefer turning landing into a more exact science, or at least a procedure...especially when crosswinds or missing chunks of Hawg are making things a little hairy. Edit: I guess I began doing this because the AI wingman likes to kill us both upon landing if we kept formation up to landing procedures...if I beat him to the runway and get the heck out of his way survival chances greatly increase. I could always let him land first, but where's the fun in that? :)

They have stated in the past that the Caucasus map will not be updated. (But I do hope they reconsider this after they release the Nevada map)

Came in low on fuel, throttle went nuts, up and own
zipdigital replied to Ramstein's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Perhaps there are other ways, but the only way I know to save a track is that when the mission ends there is a "save track" button. If I remember correctly it asks where to save the track. Once you save the track there is an option in the main menu, "replays" I think. This should allow you to navigate to the track and replay it. More experienced members may be able to explain this better. -

Do you have "Synchronize Throttle at mission start" enabled in the options? I use an X-45 and find this causes problems for me. Not only at mission start either, sometimes it goes haywire randomly throughout my attempts at campaign missions. I don't think it is A-10C, I assume it is just an oddity of my X-45. But to be honest, I usually get shot down well before I am low on fuel. :) -
What do you think about P-51D and Flying Legends?
zipdigital replied to csper's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
I'm all for the P-51, it is a favorite of mine. Quick and nimble. However the announcement of the next "US Fixed wing aircraft" is the main attraction. But...My 2 cents: (Based entirely on the few screen shots and info from the announcement) Without counterpart aircraft and ground vehicles or emplacements from the same era, there will be little to do but joy ride. No one is asking for a full WW2 sim, but some vehicles/aircraft/emplacements that historically belong with the P-51 so we can make our own believable missions would be nice. I am glad ED "fleshed out" a staff side project, but in my opinion it still feels a little emaciated. I'll be holding out for Nevada and the announcement of the next "US Fixed wing." My opinion aside, I am sure the aerobatic pilots in our community can't wait. :) I trust Wingtip smoke will be included since it is in A-10C? I will enjoy the youtube productions of our virtual pilots' feats of precision flying! -
Thanks for pointing out that link Agiel7. Made my day. I loved his imitation of the GAU-8/A."Bwaaaaah" That and when the plane seemingly blows up for no reason. I was wondering if they were going to get strafed again, lol.

Glad I saw this post. I was beginning to fear that no one was playing online.

What is your favorite change to 1.1.1.0?

Ahh good to know. Thanks for the info USSR_Rik Thank you too grandsurf, a picture is worth 100 polys...er, words. :) -
What is your favorite change to 1.1.1.0?
zipdigital replied to zipdigital's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Very nice, I'll have to test this too since I tend to have both active at the same time upon entry to hostile territory. -

I must have missed those in the patch notes, that will help quite well with coordination efforts. Now to go see them for myself... I have avoided multiplay because I'm a newb, but I have to mention compatibility with BS2 being high on my list as well.
