  1. All elevators are "soft" in that you can't land on them.
  2. Even on Dim, they are still pretty Bright.
  3. Does anyone know of a way to put in triggers for the gunners or someone in the helo to call out enemy vehicles? I'm guessing it'd take quite a bit of work to get something like that implemented into mission... I'm just thinking about how we're basically flying alone in the Huey with 3 dummies.
  4. The multiplayer aspect of having others sit in the helo. You've already made a big step in allowing us to change seats. There are a few guys in my squadron who don't fly helos, but would have fun doing door gunner. The ai call outs would be good in the meantime. The ability to pick up downed pilots is a big request, and also the cargo loads. I know I'm mirroring the requests of others, but that's only because right now we really can't do much even though it's an awesome airframe.
  5. Actually, I meant the other way. What I can do for the A-10 is to have my toggle switch, on/off spst, where in Helios I have pressed = battery switch on, released (off), battery switch off. I'm trying to do that for the Huey so that all the switches I need for startup are actual toggle switches. I know that most commands for the Huey are a single key press for on/off (ie fuel is 'F' for both on and off) I hope this changes. My issue though is that Helios isn't sending the key presses to the Huey.
  6. Doesn't specifiy. Here's the link to the website: http://www.controller.com/listingsdetail/aircraft-for-sale/BELL-UH-1H/1966-BELL-UH-1H/1271573.htm
  7. Ok, so I know this should go into the for sale area, but seeing as how it's UH-1H related.... Here's a fully airworthy UH-1H for sale. 1966 BELL UH-1H Equipment Specifications Year 1966 Manufacturer BELL Model UH-1H Price $550,000 Location Linkoping, Sweden Condition Used Serial Number 66-01156 Registration Number SE-JJK Total Time 14233 Hours General Information Huey in good condition Detailed Description Avionics/Radios: Transponder with altitude encoder VHF Radio x 2Additional Equipment: Wire Strike Kit Heated Cargo Mirror AKV Cycle Counter system Global Helicopter Vertical Fin spar modification Aeronautical Accesssories High Skid crosstubes Kamatic Kaflex Main drive shaftExterior: White / red / blackInterior: Standard
  8. I'm trying to get something setup for toggle switches, any idea how I can get the UH-1 info to the switch? In helios I only see info for the A-10C and Blackshark. EDIT: I figured out the process, but for some reason I can only get the battery switch to work. None of the others are switching.
  9. I found this out on the reporter mission of the campaign. After getting shot at, I realigned with the railroad tracks at 5ft. There's a long straight area before Sochi, with a low bridge. Knowing the size of the helo, and that it would fit, I went to fly under it. Needless to say we all died and I had to do the mission over again.
  10. An old friend of mine (Lt. Col. TJ Palmer) started out flying the F-111, then F-16, then F-117. I met him while he was on the F-117 back in '96. His mother was my high school nurse. Anyway, he told me that between the F-111 and F-16, he was an instructor for the Aardvark, and flew an exchange program with A-6 guys due to the side by side seating, flying the A-6 onto the carriers.
  11. Question, what about hardware, like toggle switches? Can Helios already control those for the Huey (on/off spst)?
  12. I voted eastern US. First, I'm from NJ, but the main reasons is due to the number of bases on the east coast. Norfolk/Oceana for Navy, Andrews/Langley/Seymour Johnson... for USAF, Ft. Rucker/Aberdeen Proving Grounds for US Army, and Cherry Point/New River for Marines. Not to mention all the other places. (ie: Patuxent River for flight testing)
  13. Here's a few notes I can give from my helo flying days (mind you, I don't have a ton of hours... 200 or so to be exact, but I can fly them). When you start to add collective, due to torque and weight, you will need back and left cyclic, along with left pedal. The opposite for lowering the collective. If your speed is nil - in a hover - you will only need to relax the controls towards center a little. Keep your pedal turns slow. Use the gun site (M key) as a reference point. When transitioning to forward flight, you will need to add collective, more left pedal, nose down, and watch the roll. Once above 20kts or so, reduce the pedals to center as they become less effective. Two last tips. Don't over compensate, and practice! Some training tips. If you are having trouble with lifting and settling, once you get airborne but are still in ground effect (2-8 feet is best), move your helo out towards the runway or wide open ramp (ie: Kobuletti). Practice first stabilizing your hover. Then move forward a little ways similar to a hover taxi, and stop. Push the collective until you touch down. Lift back up slowly, adjusting controls as needed until back in a hover. Move forward again and repeat. Once you can manage that with a degree of smoothness, try doing it faster, in terms of forward speed. If you can get good at that, the next part will be easy. Find a point (tower or vehicle at the base) and try to rotate around it keeping the nose pointed at it. You won't need to touch the collective at all, as the Huey is very forgiving in this area. Here's a 26 point list from my original training syllabus: A. Preflight (get that Huey running properly first, this includes trim) B. Straight and level flight, climbs, turns C. Airport Operations (plan what and where on the base you plan to practice) D. Configuration/Power Changes E. Normal Takeoff & Approaches F. Hover turns / Patterns (good to practice when flying MP) G. Lift Off / Set Downs H. Max Performance T/O I. Steep approaches (getting into the LZ fast) J. Quick stops (ever see an Apache do these?) K. Straight in autorotations L. Hovering autorotations (keep right pedal/ right cyclic!) M. Settling with power N. system malfunctions (RTFM!) O. Slopes (up or down hill, and landing on them) P. running T/O Q. Running landings R. Confined areas (try landing in an area with little space) S. pinnacle approaches T. 180* Autorotations U. Enhanced Autorotations V. Full Down Autorotations W. T/R Failure X. T/R Loss of control Y. Low RPM recovery Z. Cross Country operations (Navigation) One thing to note, not every flight had all areas. First flight was A-G, second A-H + K, third A-L + Q.... Hope this helps!
  14. IRIS already has testers in place. We're working hard now to get things in order. I'm not at liberty yet to discuss any information, but the projects are not dead.
  15. I haven't seen it yet, but since we're on the subject of the rotors, is there a rotor brake? I haven't found it in the cockpit, so I've been using the collective to slow the rotors down. If there is a brake for the rotors, it would be good so I could stop them inline with the fuselage.
  16. I guess that would be fine for when/if they get the shared cockpit stuff working, but for now it's kind of sad, flying 45 minutes to get to the area, not getting shot down, finally killing something while trying to maintain a hover, only to not get the kill.
  17. You have to make them client
  18. I'm not sure if its just me, but after killing vehicles and troops with the mini guns, I'm not getting any score for the kills. My squadmate was in the A-10, getting kills on the same column of vehicles, but when I killed some (I know I did and not him as he was attacking the front of a long column), my kills weren't being recorded. Anyone else notice this?
  19. The ability to change the guns mounted. The door guns are so weak, it'd be great to add some mini guns like on this Huey!
  20. I hope this is the correct place... I noticed an issue today while flying. I got sideswiped by a couple BMPs on the way back to base, killing my co-pilot and door gunner. The issue here though, is that the fuselage on the port side is damaged behind the door glass, without the glass being damaged. My starboard door glass is damaged due to an earlier attack, so I know the windows can "break". Here's a picture to show what I mean...
  21. I remember (haven't been around for a while) that with TARS, when you ejected you could only contact someone on 121.5 or so, and that had a limited range due to it being a hand held radio.
  22. If there's no takers on the last two by end I day, I'll be posting on eBay. I want you all to have the first chance though.
  23. Actually, he posted to me first, I responded with prices, then incase he changed his mind I had added to the post.
  24. I did get a lot of PMs, mostly about the UFC, but I had to accept the first one to send the message. Sorry I can't make these things or I'd sell you each one. Hehe. The Altimeter and Oxygen Regulator are still available, so let me know!
  25. There's actually one 1 UFC. This picture was taken before I had the box on it. See first post for prices.
