1. MADTank, Take a look at simmeters.com as they have some gauges for the A-10, primarily the Altimeter, G-Meter (accelerometer), Airspeed, HSI (without nav info), VVI, and AoA. Using thier software you can connect up to DCS and even FSX. They aren't cheap, but what hardware for our hobby is? I had emailed them about further products, and got the answer that they are in the process of designing an engine cluster pack (all 12 gauges) and a fuel/hyd gauge set. I haven't purchased any yet, or know anyone who has, but since I just started a new job, the wife said I can order one. I just need to decide which. I'll probably go with the altimeter as a start and get the rest later. Free shipping is a good thing too.
2. I kind of figured. I get a lot of packages from stateside since my family is there. I was only curious if in this shipment anyone else had gotten theirs yet, so I can have my wife keep a look out. Thanks for letting me know though. They should be here any day then.
3. Hey Deadman, have you heard from anyone else in Europe getting their covers yet? I still haven't gotten mine.
4. Hey Tulsa, just out of curiosity, would you sell to an overseas APO address? A friend of mine (we all deal with them) is still military but here in Germany with an APO, and he's thinking of building a pit. I thought I'd ask before showing him this.
5. Or you could just sit on the KA-50 wings. The Apaches have done it. These soldiers were going in for a rescue mission, riding on the wings of the Apache. Take a look at this image, during takeoff: http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/PictureViewers/InPicturesApacheRescue.htm
6. I didn't even look at the price. O'ahu is where I do most of my flying on FSX using the JustFlight Air Haulers addon... doing transport between the islands... and with the scenery I have it looks great. There is so much on that island compared to the large island Hawai'i, that I really don't know why they chose it. In terms of airports, Honolulu/Dillingham/John Rodgers Field, are the top 3 and all located on O'ahu... then there's Pearl Harbor and all that comes with it. I'm sure if they had started with O'ahu, people might look at it a little differently than starting with Hawai'i, which is a pretty dull island.
7. Downloaded it, and now uninstalling it. To think, they only give you 1 island and the Icon seaplane, and that's it? Couldn't they have at least picked Oahu for the island with history and Honolulu airport, plus the other airfields and amazing mountain scenery?
8. All I can say is this really is going to be an awesome change to the fast jets!
9. Thanks MTF! At least he kept it on the runway until the very end. The guys on the ground made real sure the Maj. knew that if things go wrong, he's to eject.
10. This was posted on facebook by a friend of mine that used to fly the A-10A. It is a long video, and the quality isn't the best, but definitely interesting. Can someone help me put the video on here? Here is the write up:
11. This actually fit my schedule. I got called in to work at the airport today and tomorrow. See you in March!
12. A little more than slightly, lol. I plan on taking my TACAN apart over the weekend, so if I can help with a scan I'll post it here.
13. Mangaroca, as a real world pilot, my comment about the Saitek pedals working great, means they work great. I have not tried the simpeds or vkb version, but for the price, I would say go Saitek.
14. 33 here. You should have added in an "over 60". A friend of mine flies with me daily, he's 61.
15. To be honest, I have the Saitek pedals and they work great. I don't have the combat version, although it would be cool.
16. Yep. I'm working on personal schemes for some of the others almost daily.
17. That's pretty much what I was talking about. It'd be nice if the guys at ED could make a "pitless cockpit view" or something, where everything is taken out of the cockpit except the canopy rails and front canopy supports. This would still leave all the external stuff in view so that when we turn our heads, we can still see the wings, or look at the mirrors. I look at the wings a lot when I'm flying, especially doing ground reference maneuvers (turns around a point, etc).
18. Looks like you are missing the number file in either your description.lua or the texture file in your A10.zip. Try looking in the description.lua first. The last lines are for the numbers.
19. I know this was mentioned some time ago, but I couldn't find the thread. Since there are so many of us building a pit, it would be great to have an internal view without the pit, still have the HUD, and still be able to see things like the external parts. I'm not sure exactly how to word it. In HUD only mode I feel like I'm flying a new invisible stealth attack plane, except I'm the only one that can't see it.
20. More than 2 lines, but does it matter between 16x2 or 20x2? I think the 20x2 would fit my panel better, plus allow for the spaces between the text blocks.
21. Moken, I'm planning on buying a 20x2 also. Gadroc will get back to us once he finishes his run of things. I'm sure he can help us.
22. Sold.
23. Ever since the Cougar was released, I've had mine. I'm now selling it as I have the Warthog. I've put new gimbals and pots in the stick, but otherwise it's an unmodded stick. There is some wear in the paint, but not too bad. The last time I used it, everything worked fine. I don't have the box, but I do still have the book and CDs that came with it. EU shipping only to keep costs down. If you're interested, send me a PM and we'll discuss price.
24. Not a big update, but thought I would share pictures of my UFC, courtesy of Pitbldr. It's fully working except I have yet to solder the LEDs. I'm still waiting on my Phidgets card... hence the reason I have not secured the top portion. I also left this open for now to get access to the USB port for the Leo Bodnar card (makes it easier to store on the shelf when the wife wants the desk.)
25. Hey Gadroc, Now that I have a CMSP from Pitbldr (panel only), I'm going to pick up a 20x2 green text on black LCD module. Can I order a controller board kit from you? Also, would this setup with the USB wire be plug-and-play with Helios or is there more I would need? I already have switches and the rest. Will Helios talk to the LCD in terms of displaying the information as in the sim? Here's a link to the LCD I found. http://de.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Microtips-Technology/UMSH-3267MD-2UB/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMt7dcPGmvnkBmCdhPy%252bQw6tPSvhfqhStfU%3d
