Thrustmaster TFRP First Impression

They should have designed a way to have the minimum separation as the 2.5", but that you can 'unlock' the bottom and separate the pedals along a rod (like the pedals ride on) to widen the separation between them to a maximum of say 10" -

In my 20 years of flying, neither did I. My point was that I saw a video showing a bunch of A-4 carrier traps where the nose gear collapsed. And you guys complaining about my post saying "I did that job for so long and never saw anything like what you say"... doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Watch this video (the one I originally commented about). At the 20min mark, there are a few A-4s that collapse the nose gear. A few other aircraft are shown, but again at the 25min mark is another one. So, for you nay-sayers, the nosegear can collapse. The Rift is amazing. I've only had it a few weeks now. I've mapped a couple other use buttons on my warthog (gear, F-keys mainly used) so I don't need the keyboard. I do have my keyboard situated so I have the keypad infront of me, and reprogrammed the keys to the UFC, which makes that easy.

I don't have the Gazelle (yet), but I have flown Helos real world. I've been trying to say this on Facebook, but "The Gazelle is not the Huey, and comparing the two is comparing how a Ferrari and my POS 1992 pickup truck run". The area of ground effect is dependent on the rotors. The Gazelle has a 3 blade mast, with narrow rotor blades. The Huey (older models) have a 2 blade mast with wide blades. The wider blades will cause a more induced ground effect than the smaller Gazelle blades. Having said that, I have never flown a Gazelle, but I have flown a small piston helo, and the ground effect wasn't as much as I'm used to from flying fixed wing.

I have one... somewhere. I think it's in 3 different boxes (actual TIR, base/wire, hat clip) since I've had to box up my flight gear for the time being. I'm not using it since I have an Oculus Rift.

Don't forget guys, that the weight and flight dynamics between the Huey and Gazelle are completely different. Make sure you have your curves set up properly too.

When it comes to landing, I know very well the physics of it... being a real world pilot for the last 20 years. The reason I mentioned the nose gear of the A-4, is due to the length and also the number of times I've seen it collapse in videos compared to other aircraft. -
Not to mention having to get the tanker airborne when the guys coming back in from a mission keep missing the wires and start getting a low state.
-
The F-14A didn't have a HUD glass, only the front windscreen was used. You can see this in quite a few actual pictures if you look closely.

After watching some videos, I wonder if the fragile nose gear will be on this A-4, where it'll collapse if the proper landing attitude isn't flown onto the deck. -
Just updated the standalone (not open beta), and the improvement with even the DK2 is amazing. It's 100 times smoother than it was before, and it was ok smooth before. Got job guys.
-
I was thinking about that, but there are areas where it doesn't fit. In a lot of the areas, it does.
-
I also have this issue. Any idea what could be causing it?

While waiting for this A-4 to come out, if anyone wants to get this, I'll be your pilot 24/7... Also, it would be great if you guys did a TA-4J version with multi-crew to train others on carrier operations. http://www.controller.com/listings/aircraft/for-sale/1419151/mcdonnell-douglas-ta4j-skyhawk -
In Helicopter training, you learn that left is positive collective, right is negative collective. What that means is, even in a full down collective, you will have to add right pedal to keep the helicopter going straight. Any pull on the collective and you will have to add right. Any loss of power where you might be centered, you'll have to add right pedal.

I can turn my head to look at my six in the DK2 also. As long as your are still within the tracking Cone, you're ok. Never have any issue looking around the cockpit in all directions. The only limitation is how far I can stretch my neck around in my seat.

I'm fine with any variant, as it will look good sitting on the carrier deck, along with the F-14, F-18, A-6, A-7... plus I could relive the old days watching A-10s and A-4s formation land at Willow Grove NAS JRB from when I was a kid back in the early 80s. -
I didn't go through all 23 pages, but one thing I would actually like to see along with the A-6E is a KA-6D tanker... especially with the multi-cockpit. I know I wouldn't have an issue flying up and holding an orbit for my squad mates to hook up to. It would add to the realism.
-
Hey all, I've done some searching, but haven't found anything. Does anyone know if we can put the UH-60 onto the UH-1H cockpit, like VFA-113 did with their F-18 over F-15, or A-7 over A-10A? Not that I don't love an old Huey, but I'd like to be able to fly the larger UH-60 around.
-
I agree. I have a DK2 that I bought a few weeks ago, and I can't fly without it now. I hope ED gets on the move to upgrade the software for the 1.3 runtime.
-
I actually find the A-10C to work really well with the Dk2. I wish it was a little smoother, but I can live with it. I only have a GTX 750ti also... if I could afford a 980ti, that would make things much better. I just hope ED updates to the 1.3 runtime real soon for those who have the CV1, and for us DK2 owners who want a little better system.
-
If it works anything like flyinside with fsx/p3d it will be great. You pick a button on your joystick, and where you look is where it goes. The only issue I see though, is reaching those out of view switches, or the ones behind the seat.
-
Any idea when that 1.3 Runtime update will apply to DCS? I'm still using the DK2, but it works really well with the other sims out there
-
Ok then... I'll wait to install 1.3 then. I don't want to lose my ability to fly with my DK2.
-
Hey all, I noticed there was mention of Runtime 1.3, but heard it isn't working with DCS... is that still true? I am still thinking of downloading it for FSX and testing it with the flyinside, but keeping .8 available for dcs, or would it not make sense to do that?
