In my case and I'm sure I've seen that elsewhere, USA mlrs never fire. Only arty shoot. Russia grad works, but not the other rockets launchers systems. This is valid for bs2 and dcsw editor only. A10 works well

As naval ops is quite buggy since a long time I just want to remind (if it's not known yet) that - when you assign a 4 squadron to land on a carrier, wingmen 2 & 3 will try to land a the same time. Nice firework on the track . - only one chopper will land. The wingman will try to reach the land. - still those huge invisibles holes (not walls!!!) in the place of nimitz's elevators. It's a trap for us, sharky pilots

Yep, affirmative! You can create a .wav file and assign it on a unit, or trigger zone. With loop option, desired power (White noise on mountains) ans frequency. Now open finalcutpro and make good chat between awacs and BLUFOR! Enjoy -
I have a 3dFX voodoo if interested... A-10 cuba works like a charm, so F/A-18 Korea. seriously, no one will say the truth when comparing ATI to Nvidia. somme will say Ati drivers sucks, Nvidia overheat, etc.. I don’t care, i burned my Ati X1900XT, my Nvidia 8800GT, and now i’m still with this good old 4890. i’m maxing out almost everything in HD, but DCS. :D

Despite all the «*bugs*» i’ve seen on this forum since BS2 realease which made me fleeing for an internet spaceships game for some time (Trimmer, Shkval, X52Pro...) i never experienced any of those since i got back playing 2 weeks ago. For what i remember of BS1 was : BS1 Engines/rotor sound were some kind of better (and less true maybe) than BS2 BS1 powerlines are wires. in BS2, powerlines are so big that even you NVG car spot them miles away. BS1 textures are poorer (Mi-8 is a bunch of flying pixels), but your CPU will love it (so your FPS rate) BS1 left me a feeling of having never flown a Ka50 when i first took command in BS2. (insta crash OMG) BS2 has carrier operation (at a limited rate though) but you can make mission with take-off & land from ships. BS2 Mission editor has a «*OR*», «*AGL above ground level*» arguments and so more, which make our life easier when designing. BS2 Night Vision Goggles can make you blind if you don’t know how to use it properly (like IRL) BS2 is compatible with DCSWorld, which will be compatible with combined arms. and now not sure for BS2 only, maybe it was implemented in DCSWorld : Radiooooo ! in mission editor, throw a comm tower anywhere, find a looong playlist, assign your playlist to this tower with 1Watt power, check the loop option and there you go ! Fusion 127.3FM All night long ! You have so much options in BS2/DCSWorld that no one has yet made something other than : Take Off, shoot, land, you won. -

No offense everyone but are any of you possessing a Xeon atm ? I mean, post Pentium 4 / itanium Era ? I have, at home, since august 2006 the E-5150 DP-DC Xeon (2.67Ghz) based on Core2 architecture. Since 2008, i can overclock it up to 3.3Ghz (bus overclocking, not multiplier) it's still a beast ! of course BS2 is not running @ 60fps when heavily crowded but it's source code threading problem heh :music_whistling: Anyway, whatever it is, i5 i7 E5 X5, you're good to go, but... ---- (Not for TL;DR fanboys :) Xeon has always a leap foward from consumer products. I will not try to sell you a Xeon, for gaming purpose it's maybe a little overpriced :D but.. oh well i always knew i would play 90% of my time @home anyway. Xeon has ECC memory, and up to insane amount. if you're interested in raping all those pesky SSD users, build up a RAM Disk and show them who's the boss ! they won't fail easily and if you're playing with no fans @ 40°C ambient air, well, they will say nicely to you : "Hey buddy, it's hot in here, i'm taking control to prevent any data loss and system damages." Xeon is the top of the line in processors streams. - Larger cache, Virtualization (it's a mac, under linux, installed on windows, who cares? Virtualize me! (no.. it's not emulating)) - Memory directly connected to processors - up to 24 cores, 48 threads (on dual cpu) - Require you to sell your mom (if you're playing DCS, you should already had sold your girlfrend) - Consume way more power, but with far more stability (my Dimms are 17W each !!!) If you're intending to buy a Xeon, avoid the3xxx family (Mono CPU), look for the 5xxx or 7xxx with preferably X5xxx (X = performance unit). the W means Dual CPU if i'm correct. but you can run with one (oh... not tried it on this unit personnally) In my case, my new GF (got it after i bought my Xeons) promised me to buy me the next Xeon in 2013, i'm happy :):):) (i'm sad since my boss bought me a 3.2 hexa cores Dual Cpu at work) To end this thing up, check Intel's roadmap, then your wallet, what you're really want to do with this (are you planning to buy 6 screens, one for HD encoding, another for watching a bluray, another with DCS manual.pdf, Eagle.ru and 3 screens of combined arms ? or just combined arms ? :cry:) So ? come on, look at there raw comparisons maybe it will help : http://ark.intel.com/compare/63696,52214,52210,64582 so ? 200$ or 2000$ ? :P ----- If it's just for DCS, just don't go for Xeon right now as you will have to change almost everything and build up a solid case. Oh, my bad... You're both right, i'm afraid :§ thanks for this flash response, you just gave me a little hope to finish an awesome KA-50 campaign, with this (OMG WTF) all new toys in mission editor ! I don't speak a word in Russian, even the threads titles makes me cry, but you right, i should have checked that before as Russians would prefer flying a Russian craft. As for the beta and general threads in A10 (until last days) you're also right, i even was wandering over there to gleam infos about the Shark. Well for the ED's sales volume (praying it's > than 2000 units), i only hope one thing : Keep your passion like it was the day this :angel: good man let you ride his beloved Ka-50. Now excuse me, my APU is overheating and L-R Engines need a little help to sing their melody to me :love: Edit : @ leafer : 245€ for 6*2GB, not really lol'ed at this time but... i do not regret. For this price it is FB-dimm by the way. @EtherealN : AirWolf... watched it (again... but season 3) this year and... oh yeah now i know why i loved Desert Strike on Amiga (and Amiga only). Oh, btw BS2 took the first place now :) -
Hi ! Really sorry if it's not the good place to ask but it's been some time i really wonder how many dcs copies were sold over time. I was interested for the KA-50 product but, seeing that this forum has less posts than A-10C which is a newer game makes me feeling weird. So i tried looking without success (i lost hours searching some stupid things in this forum, but not this time). So if anyone has any info, i would be glad to hear it. even if its a 2010 chart. All i know is i tried BS1, then bought BS2 A10, TrackIr5 and X52pro, 12g ram and a new HDD. left a hole in my pocket, but with so great enjoyments (and rage sometimes) Still never flown in A10. it's just sitting on my HDD.

W7x64, Training worked after installation if i remember (Ka-50 and SU-25 merged missions, even if there are no SU25 training available (click did nothing) then shortly after, it didn't worked anymore. no problem with mission, you just can't get into the menu. cliking on "training" go to Loading page and ... that's all. no cpu workload, have to force quit dcs every time.

My results : A: 19 B: 17 C: 15 D: 14 system : MacPro Xeon 5150 2x2@2.6Ghz /MSI 4890OC 1gb / 2x 1920x1200 (1 used) / 6GB FBdimm DDR2@667 / win7x64 The game was largely enjoyable with BS1, and very frustating since BS2 this is my first game not really playable since 2006. even with low details in some scenes. i love BS and i strongly think to upgrade my CPUs to those X5365 2x4@3Ghz as i'm quite sure it's cpu bottlenecked. but for 500$ investment, i'm not sure having a fps gap as this cpu is early 2008. read that it matches a single i7 920 but... no one really plays with a 450Wh machine only for two CPUs, plus a 300Wh GPU and a fraking limitng DDR bandwidth.(but error free :D) if someone can tell me i'm going wrong, totally...

Just wondering how many cores DCS can use? maybe i'm doing something wrong, i see only 45% on monitoring, roughly 1cpu(dc) @ max and 1 idle. DCS engine is designed to take advantage of future hardware, but as far as i can see, we're not rushing the 5Ghz barrier, but the 'morecoresyoucanaddbetteris" with subroutines to best handle HD conversion... I noticed looking a sunrise is... OMG and laggy (10-20) And i didn't tested heavy engagement yet :) For GPU, i can't hear my Ati's Turbine when playing. old 4890 still do great at idle ! Ok, it's my good old 2x core2 Xeon E5150... and the HDR effect ;) -

Hi all, i'll try to make this post As Clear and Updated As Possible, i'm playing for a while with ME and now with BS2 ME (called patch 1.1.10) for a nice campaign designed to be as enjoyable as Balkan/Korea theater in another well known game. And it's very H-A-R-D. I Will (over time) post general designs meant to accomplish certains Mission Roles Task. I wish i can count on you and tells to the community how did you successfully done your own task. If it's a good method, i will add it in this list. For now i will list only Automated tasks such as Task and Enroute Tasks Triggered tasks will come later. For a starting roles guide, i will refer to F4AF p.243 DCA : Defensive Counter Air : protect friendly assets in and around the station area Task : CAP (Combat Air Patrol) // Circular waypoints around the area then in Adv Waypoints : Start Enroute Task (SETk) Search then engage with a max distance equals to the radius and range of medium AA missile (Aim120c = 50km). Any penetrating aircraft will be engaged (assumed a good plane like F15/Mig 29). Use looped waypoints (Perform Command : Switch waypoint 1) with stop conditions after triggered action or mission duration. Awacs in DCS can't relieve friendly aircrafts. BARCAP : Barrier Combat Air Patrol : Protect a lane from enemy penetration. Task : CAP // Linear waypoint following a Lane (which define a friendly zone) then setup as DCA task with a maxed distance of 10-50km. Any aircraft entering this zone will be engaged. (preventing bomber to pass through). Use looped waypoints in case of. HAVCAP : High Value Asset Protection Combat Air Patrol : A/A mission designed to protect Aircraft like Tankers or AWACS. Task : CAP // Place waypoints following the Tanker route, AdvWay : SETk Search then Engage with max zone higher than Medium AA missile. Engage Fighters only. Ensure Altitude and Speed match the Tanker (ETA) waypoints. Use looped waypoints. Set up a good time on station. You can manually perform a AA refuelling before long predicted engagements. (available for F15/F16/F117/A10/E3A crafts only) TARCAP : Target Combat Air Patrol : Protect friendly aircrafts engaged in an operation within enemy airspace. Same as DCA but into enemy Territory. RESCAP : Rescue Combat Air Patrol : Protect rescue Helos. Same as HAVCAP, match the route with rescueing helos. Ambush Cap :Prevent enemy radar detection (ex : hiding behind a mountain ) in order to engage at shortened range (generally AIM9 range) Task : CAP // Use low Orbit function behind a hill and set stop condition if enemy penetrates a small Zone/Moving zone area. Enemy should NOT be programmed to engage this specific package. He must Search it before engaging. Sweep : Aggressive counter air into enemy territory. Task : CAP or Fighter Sweep // Be aware that CAP and Fighter Sweep will allow friendly to pursue enemy far, far away, using their Full A/B to engage a distant Bomber. (100-150km) A 4-group can separate to engage differents close enemies. Engaging the deadliest first. Su33/27 then Mig29S/A... F14 with AIM54 are good for long range bomber with slow manoevers. F15 and F18 are very well performing with this task. F16 seems lazy, they're usually get shot before they can fire any aim-120. AIM 120b is easily fooled with heavy manoevering aircraft at a medium range. Intercept : A/A interception of an assigned aircraft. Task : Intercept // set AdvWay to Task : engage group... There is no Enroute task for this one need to be confirmed but they will engage any aircraft whitin missile range. Escort : Protect a strike package from enemy aircraft (assume we have packages in dcs). Task : CAP !!! // Use as Havcap. Escort task in ME seems to be broken, they won't engage any aircraft UNLESS being engaged. (usually it's too late) SEAD Strike : Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses : Engage SAM radar and launch vehicles. Task : SEAD // AdvWay : SETk search then engage according to your wishes. Max distance, AAA, Low/Med/High altitude SAMs. Excellent Task for Choppers (apache, Cobra, Kamov) and CAS aircrafts (A-10/F16/Su25...) SEAD Escort : Protect SEAD Strike Package from SAM. Ex : Engage SAM's radar vehicles preventing it from firing. Task : SEAD // same as SEAD Strike but... create a package and match waypoint with Strike Package. Don't allow aircraft to engage any ground units by limiting their loads. (AGM88 but not any mavericks) OCA Strike : Offensive Counter Air : Engage dangerous enemy assets such like SAM launch vehicles and airbases. Task : Runway Attack, CAS or SEAD. Perform Manual task or enroute task if they have to find enemy before engaging. Task Bombing or Pinpoint Strike for statics objects. Tip for runway attack : F15E strike fighter can take a shit load of durandal (BSU49?) with 3 fuel tanks, perfect to strike all chinese runways before entering war with allied north korea :D . In DCS, it's Mk-82 AIR but havn't tested it yet) Strike : Standard Air to Ground mission against enemy war production. Task : Bombing or Pinpoint strike. No enroute task. Usual aircrafts : A-10, F16, F18. But you can try the FAB250/500 with Ka-50. it requires good training though. CCIP is your friend, not CCRP. Deep Strike : Strike deep into enemy territory Same as Strike. Not to be done in a chopper directly. FAC : Foward Air Control : Part of an On-Call CAS. Assign targets to strike packages. Task : AFAC. // Completely broken or useless in DCS BS2. You can't contact any FAC. The FAC (ground or air) will NOT help other AI units. But he WILL actually fly over the target then circle around until bingo or destruction. (uh-oh, it was a SAM) On-Call CAS : On-Call Close Air Support : Strike enemy army near friendly ground forces. Ask for targets from a FAC. Task : CAS // Can't be On-Call with KA-50. Radio remain silent. Must be completely triggered or manually tasked, which leads to a .....-> Pre-Plan CAS : Strike known enemy unitswithout FAC assistance. Task : CAS // AdvWay can be manually tasked (ai wise) or with enroute task (AI unaware. must find it first or with awacs help, even maybe with FAC package) CAS : Close Air Support : Destroy as many vehicles as possible. Task : CAS // same as pre-planned CAS. Automated or Triggered. Interdiction : Prevent enemy from ressuplying its front line. Task : CAS // AdvWay : SETk with limited search area behind enemy lines, or perform a full manual task. Recon : Reconnaissance : Gather intelligence of enemy area. Task : Reconnaissance // Seems to be broken in DCS BS2, recon aircraft will not transmit over radio what its seeing. Only AWACS report enemy air/ground contact. BDA : Battle Damage Assessment : Mission flown to verify damage done to a designated (and destroyed) target. Cool feature, but the Shkval can't take photos. and it require a Dynamic Campaign :D . Anti-Ship : Strike Naval forces. Task : Anti-Ship // AdvWay : same as CAS but with Anti-ship ammos. Really hard to script. Planes with this task will usually try to perform ship engagement then defend themselves if firing by any enemy CAP. Bugs : - You must create a new payload for AI Helos as no default payload are present. - Missiles fuel or launch calculations is wrong. if AI fire at max range (Excellent skill) the missile will not reach the ship and crash way before (ex. with russians bomber (su-33, TU)) - ROE/State of ships doesn't work yet. Ticonderoga or Normandy can easily counter-attack full package of SU 33, or long range bombers. If the real world look like this, we can start to declare war each other again because Nuclear Threat is not a problem anymore. - Do not let aircrafts land on carrier yet, they will be stuck right in the middle and start drift slowly. Training : Master your flying machine. (and the X-messages in Me triggers) Task : ??? // Check this .doc made by ED I have not yet tested full capability, and i'm limited in russian knowledge that's why i'm not talking about TU-142 and others... Make any suggestion, comments, i'm open to critiscism unless non-constructive. I'm not a soldier, i just want to make best realistic/fancy mission for a non-dynamic campaing game :) I only have DCS BS1/2. A-10 is coming along the way, but you can do so much with a tiny flying shark. Next post will be reserved for known bugs or features such as rearming, buggy carrier operations, which can be found all over the place. I'll probably need help for AI Ground Units summary as many function doesn't work. (SA-10 sam system can't move by itself (but CP, which role still unknown to me), relation to awacs, ROE not working etc...) KA50 can't do all of mission for sure, A10 can do more (or less), but a good scripted mission can be so much enjoyable. nothing keeps you from helping a ground unit to capture an airport, then deploy Fighters Packages to protect you during the rest of your mission. AI like to chat (yeah they do), if you feel alone, just set the right frequency. Bullseye comms are in NM/FEETS for BS blue-side fans, so no, there are not any space shuttle bomber. At last, this post will be heavily modified, depending on you. i'm not english so if i made too many mistakes, just PM me with the right form ;) BIG Thanks to ED, Frenchs and Englishmen for porting Naval Operations to DCSBS ! :D ...now the 6th june 1944 will be possible again !

another eyecandy's glitches Refuelling wire is incorrectly connected (wrong position) on F117A and E3A ^^ F18A/C can't refuel (BUT because of the cable design of the tanker so it's not a bug)

Didn't succeed in asking ships to engage a firing point. Advanced option only purpose me No Task, unlike the gui manual.

Nate, please Nate, designate a Moderator to create a summary, because it's tedious to read pages of bugs/wish/comments... you will see sooner or later repeting bugs, which will inflate this thread artificially. SO [bUG] : Heavy BUGS with Carrier group (USA at least) - Hudge free-fall zones around the carrier (where the elevators are supposed). go from the tarmac to underwater in no time ! - Traffic jam and invisible ground still on carrier with heavy operation undergoing, example : Ask 4 F-14 to takeoff, then 4 F/A-18 to land with another spawn of 4 CH-47 starting up. the F-18 lands before the chopper leaves (so after F-14 departure) and will SLOWLY drift on the left side(not the tower) over the sea at the end of the runway. but they won't fall. All fighters where "parked "over the sea, with some of them damaged (too close) I know it was "almost" perfect with 1.02 and russians carriers. If you want more details, i'll try to re-edit and post the mission file tomorrow for you. PS (some previous post) : the Neutrashimy landing pad was not very well made even with 1.02, but you can land on it and set triggers properly anyway. it's just eyecandy. no damage to the BS. P.P.S. : still GUI user manual page 106 : "PINPOIONT STRIKE" come on, that is not serious ^^ P.P.P.S. : when the game crash it says : DCS A-10C crashed... hmmmm pretty sure i bought BlackShark2 :D Good luck :smartass:

Strange, because this technical detail is explicit in GUI manual ^^ page 140(142acrobat reader) "Remember, unlike Tasks, Enroute Tasks involve target groups the AI will have to independently detect prior to being able to conduct an attack. The AI's ability to detect enemy groups depends on a number of factors, including the sensors carried by the aircraft, AI skill setting, weather, etc. [...] Environmental and target factors:Background terrain (forest, field, road, open water)"

Well, i'm off to watch a movie, and went back, to see THAT ? And there are people complaining? oh ***t ! At least now i know a rough number of active player :-) 20$ is not cheap... but it's not a 5h playtime game like BF3. (ohhh MW3, what? 60€? lol) I bought all armaII expansions, and some of them was.. hard to admit... for the price. but, heh.. 20$ for a "community expandable" game? or 20$ to show how J.J. Abrams f*** you with his movies? Never forget Millions of people will PAY 40$ just to kill some Pandas ! and incidentally keep playing. Vergeev campaign costs 4$ HiTiles for F4 costs 5$ Eve Online require 2 accounts min@ 14$ each Show the world that the KA-50 can CRUSH any A-10 on the ground, that's priceless. :P Look the right side, now BS is up do date with a modern (....?) engine. Let them release Nellis, A-10 patch, and GO for the next DCS machine ! (who wanna be the running JTAC Man ? :pilotfly:) btw, whats new radio comms means? can we talk about the weather with Awacs? as i don't have A-10 ^^ ...yet. will buy it tomorrow, don't kill the servers !

patch 1.02 does not support training. if you want to practice, look for nice tutorials on the net. like this one http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2626185/ there's also 9 videos made by the producers, which helped me to master ABRIS, PVI-800 and wingmen engagements.
