Oh, you can launch the (MP) missions of the trainings pack as SP missions (i.e. through the single player startup screen, just as any other mission) as well. You'll end up in the first flight in this case, but the difference is rather minor. Alternatively, you could start a LAN server and pick a mission so you can join any of the (usually four) groups that are set up in the missions. DRAGONs Training Pack is available for BS1, BS2, WH and BS2&WH iirc. Just check his signature (=STP= DRAGON) for links ;) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=46354 (Trainings Pack BS1 & BS2)

DRAGONs Training Pack is way more comprehensive -- sort of "must have" since 1897 ;)

That's weird. I did a brief testrun with BS1 today to check the file locations. Ah, I see BS1 offers the "Tracks" folder of the BS1 installatioin path as a default file path. May be you don't have the permission (by Windows) to write into that folder? That would explain the missing track file... My installation is on a different drive (E:\) than Windows so it doesn't conflict with the default Windows file and folder permissions.

Sorry, I assumed BS2. In BS your last flown missioin track is located in the "Temp" folder of your BS1 installation path, e.g. "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Temp"

OK, just used your mission and crashed successfully, following your procedure. EDIT: Err, wait - why does Windows report "DCS:A-10C Warthog" to fail? EDIT 2: Just created an "empty" (just one Ka-50) mission, starting at the Krymsk runway. Same symptom, easily reproducible.

Haven't used your mission, used the "Cold Start at Mozdok" instant actioin instead. There, everything works fine, no crash.

If these features are not available for all choppers, I'd assume they're not implemented in the sim.

Gorgeous stuff! Especially the soundtrack makes flying appear soooo easy ... ;) :D -
Not at client side. At least, all my tracks in "Saved Games\DCS BlackShark 2\Tracks\Multiplayer" originate from sessions that I hosted.
-
For what purpose? What do you expect to control/alter with said lua file?
-
There is no "temp" (nor "tmp", "Temp" or similar) in the installation folder... No, you still have to save the track by clicking on the "Save Track" button in the debriefing screen. I'm not aware of a different method, that is ... ;)
-
You have to save a track intentionally from the debriefing screen, there is no automatic track saving. If you don't change the default destination folder, you should find them in your "Saved Games\BlackShark 2\Tracks" folder (Win7).

Best way to start is to get DRAGONs Training Pack (either one, standalone or combined) and use these. With these you can train most if not all aspects of BS (1 or 2), they're great. You can start the missions either "Offline" (just open from the "Missions" menu in BS) or as a Server/Client (BS Multiplayer -> New Server -> LAN type -> pick Mission -> Fly).

Pretty long read, needs some time to understand and follow. Thanks for that AlphaOneSix!

GPS is also relatively easy to poison. In such a case, which system would take precedence?

Indeed, all it takes is a traditional portable transistor receiver and some wire. Technology of teh sixties? ;)

fixed that for you...

Air France jet vanishes from radar

Routine? Impression of safety? Trust in his colleagues (they weren't bloody n00bs at all)? Guess, you' dhave to ask him to get the answer... EDIT: I think the conclusion of Jeff Wise's article points out the real risk we're in by cautiouslessly allowing technology to merge into our daily life: Most would claim that the technology in question would not fail and in the (predictably) very rare cases of failure it would be designed in a way so the failing components would be covered/replaced/substituted by backup components. Inevitably, this leads to diminishing attention on emergency procedures to deal with "failing" technology (even though techology worked perfectly fine in the case of this AF flight). I guess we either have to accept the very rare cases of failing or misleading technology which lead to the loss of lifes or we'd have to focus on extended training to deal with situationis like these. As extended training (etc.) would lead to higher expenses, I assume we'll see similar tragedies more often in the future. :( -
Out of Curiousity -- Chaffs Anyone?

That's a point, I see. -
Out of Curiousity -- Chaffs Anyone?

Why should I listen ;) Why is everyone so focussed on bugs/nobugs? Anyway, my original question has been answered. That sounds fair enough to me. :) -

Sorry, again: BS2 FM still quotes the UV-26 deploying chaffs. Bug.
