  1. Seconded. I use curve 10 on pitch and roll, would advise doing the same with rudder. My simpeds have integrated exponential curve that does the job nicely so I left that alone. Difference is night and day.
  2. Seconded. I too would like more info on the subject. What exactly is now modeled in the game?
  3. My above comments are nothing else but constructive criticism. I am fully aware that this is still WIP and with that in mind I think this now we have the most chances to get the things right. "While the iron is still hot", so to speak. :) Again, being no expert on the subject - someone else will hopefully provide more compelling materials on how it should be done. I am merely a perfectionist with lots of respect for the guys behind the project.
  4. At night you most definitely see them. Night fighters had prolonged exhaust manifolds just to minimize/eliminate the effect of blue flames. You probably do see them to some extent during daylight and especially from the pit. How accurate and if the sim portrays it accurately, I can not tell. My FPS drop as soon as I fire up the engine. Before that they are in about the same range as when flying A-10C.
  5. Nicely spotted. Prop, engine intake(?) and exhaust look a bit off to me as well: Though I am no expert on the subject. :)
  6. Same here. I too am getting about 10 FPS less with the Stang in comparison with A-10C. The FPS start plummeting when I fire up the engine. Add to that the MSFFB2 FPS drop, and this is running far worse than A-10. Thus in order to run with sort of normal FPS I have to use Warthog. Normally I can use mirrors, but I had to disable them when flying P-51D.
  7. I stand corrected. :) EDIT: A2A's P-51 prop: Ferocious Frankie prop:
  8. Hind. All the way.
  9. Thanks. True, CloD doesn't feature governors since all propeller pitch settings there are manual - quite the opposite of DCSW. :) I think Team Fusion did some changes to improve the 2D disc, now props look phenomenal.
  10. Various systems complexity modeling I was more than aware of, just not the extent of their damage modeling. Comparing IL2 and DCS P-51, it is very easy to spot the higher fidelity of the DCS product - from the modeling of torque on take off to complex system modeling. Some things are most definitely exaggerated in IL2. Thanks for clearing this up. As I said, I have few few hours with the plane thus far. These are my initial impressions before I dig in deeper. Thats is exactly what I wanted to hear, thanks. :) Hmmm... I was quite positive it wasn't visible, i.e. the thickness stays the same all the time. Will check again. Non the less, the side view is superior in CloD.
  11. Patch 1.2.4 is a ton of fun, thank you ED! ORIGINAL THREAD HERE From last nights tangling with Doras, a couple of screens. First off, BB Doll: The reflections in this game are something else (screenshots really don't do justice) Few shots of the Dora The effects and DM do have some room for improvement IMO. This isn't primarily a WWII sim and it can be seen here (although there are improvements with every patch) Combat shots, downing two Doras each Stuff I'd like to see improved in the future: Propeller animations. Alright, they do not look flat when viewed from the side and are miles ahead of those in old IL2 1946, and they look amazing when viewed from cockpit - but in comparison with Cliffs of Dover propellers, where the thickness of the prop is changing depending on the pitch/angle of the blades, they do not look so great. Cliffs of Dover and even Rise of Flight props are second to none in this aspect. Visual damage model. I haven't tested this much yet, but it seems to me that small hits produce hundreds and hundreds of holes on the fuselage - which in the end looks a bit "too much", more like shrapnel damage than from impacted rounds (as seen on Dora screens above). I've yet to test the actual P-51D damage model, in IL2 when you take a hit in the wing (same goes for 190D) it is immediately noticeable on the FM. Your wing dips and looses lift. So far I've only lost wings to AI Doras so I can not yet judge how well DSC P-51 models this... :) Overall, I have a feeling that DCSW will be a serious competitor when DCSW Fw190D9 is ready. Can't wait!
  12. Seconded. One thing you could add to the video (or it is missing to put it better), are stick curve adjustments (pitch, roll and yaw). On yaw my SIMPED pedlas exponential profile does the job nicely for yaw, but on pitch and roll I did have to set 10 on "curvature" for each axis. Also helps a lot. Last but not least - 46" of manifold pressure is more than enough for take off and that is how real pilots fly them, a friend told me that IIRC.
  13. 46" on take off? Makes sense. Thanks for the video, some good tips there.
  14. Yup, noticed the same in the Stang.
  15. Exactly. More new effects towards the end of this video:
  16. Good stuff! Miles ahead of what we currently have. Lets hope we won't have to wait for 1.2.5. before we get it. :)
  17. RIP
  18. Any word on the wingtip smoke being put back in?
  19. Lets hope the just omitted it from the list. :)
  20. Win7 Professional x64.
  21. Glad this was reported and confirmed. I too am having severe FPS drops with P-51D and MSFF2. For me it mostly happens when I turn on the engine, coupled with maneuvering as mentioned by OP. Will use TH Hog until this is fixed.
  22. Just tried it with a friend on two different servers online, and no joy. Both the old method via radio and new one via LALT+' did not work for us. TBH my engines were running and canopy was closed. Last server we tried this on was 104th IIRC where you start without any ordinance on you. EDIT: Joined 104th again and tried rearming without touching anything else - works. Huh... that a new feature?
  23. Horrible news, those are the best pedals one could buy. I hope they come back in the future. Saitek Combat Pedals are however, a very good choice. In particular since you can adjust the angle of pedals for more convenient desktop use.
  24. Very nicely put together. Now we have a complete picture. Lets hope some of these effects, in particular those that are broken and cause massive FPS drops get addressed soon.
  25. Got tired of waiting so I reinstalled by first deactivating the whole thing. Seconded.
