  1. Strange, that shouldn't happen. As long as you are within a certain distance (50 m or is it feet maybe) from the downed pilot, and your collective is all the way down, you should get a message that your helo has landed, and then 10s later the pilot will board the helo (i.e. disappear into thin air). Depending on your settings for the collective, maybe the trigger checking that is too tight (try to simply remove that trigger, and see if that helps)
  2. Mission: CSAR Name: CSAR Author: wolle Mission type: SP / CSAR Controllable: UH-1H Quick summary: -Your Huey is tasked with CSAR operations. Take off when you receive instructions to rescue a downed pilot. -Expect AAA sites scattered around the theatre of operation. You are armed with miniguns to defend yourself. -Use ADF 315 kHz to find your way back home after you picked up the downed pilot. NOTE: When (and if) there is a downed pilot for you to rescue is determined dynamically as the result of A2A combat, and therefore occurs at an unpredictable time and location. It is recommended that you use accelerated time (5-10 fold) while you wait for instructions. Link/Download: attached Discussion thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=107187 CSARMay26.miz
  3. In the attachment you can find a CSAR mission for the UH-1H. In this mission, you will be on standby until a downed jet pilot needs to be rescued. When and where that happens is determined dynamically in the mission as a result of air to air combat operations in the region of western Georgia. Enjoy. After possible initial feedback I will post the mission in the appropriate section of the forum and DCS webpage. EDIT May 26: I made a couple of changes and posted an updated version at http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=105999&page=2, and on the DCS "User Files" webpage. Changes: made downed pilot invisible to enemy AI, fixed a bug (I had mistakenly set the home base ADF to 210 MHz instead of 210 kHz, now I use 315 kHz because the mission editor doesn't allow entering frequencies below 300 kHz for some reason), and added more enemy AAA sites. 4. Hi Grimes, Unfortunately this does not work (for me at least). In the attached test mission I create a group at mission start, and then destroy it at 10 seconds. You will see an error message pop up at 10 seconds. If you have time, please check it out. test.miz
  5. So I figured out how to use coalition.addGroup to dynamically add groups, but how do you remove/deactivate such a group? In other words, what's the inverse of the addGroup command, is there a coalition.removeGroup? The regular triggered action "Group deactivate" doesn't work, since a dynamically added group won't appear in the mission editor's drop down menu.
  6. I got it to work with numbers 0 and 1 for AM and FM, respectively.
  7. How did you extend your stick? What kind of stick, a Warthog?
  8. time trial Huey, test of your flying skills Name: Time Trial Skill Author: wolle Mission type: SP Controllable:UH-1H Quick Summary : Race against the clock as you complete a series of challenges including carrier/ship/roof top landings, sideways and formation flying, and target practice. Link/Download: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=106642
  9. I put together a simple time trial mission. Complete a series of challenges in as little time as possible. Feel free to change/expand/edit mission. Hope you guys like it, comments welcome. EDIT: Improved and extended version (May 19). Will also post this in the missions and campaigns thread, and on "user files" on the DCS homepage. TimeTrialSkill.zip TimeTrialSkillMay19.miz
  10. I recently noticed that the artificial horizon can get out-of-whack after long periods of flying, i.e. the ground on the artificial horizon is at an angle with the real ground. Is this due to precession errors (e.g. during sustained turns the g-vector does not point down any more, and after a while the artificial horizon adapts to this new "down" direction)? Does anyone know: is the artificial horizon in the Huey susceptible to such precession errors, and is it modeled in DCS:UH-1?
  11. Thanks Wess, your help is much appreciated.
  12. Even more worrying, because I have to press left pedal! (not right pedal) What am I doing wrong? Just to make sure that I don't have things set up completely wrong: the more I pull on the collective, the more left pedal I have to give it, right? At what torque do you guys usually fly your cruise? I have my torque needle typically in its 9 o'clock position. Somebody please clarify! Help is much appreciated.
  13. No, I don't use rudder trim. I attached a track to illustrate what I am talking about (the need for left rudder to keep the ball centered). Or am I doing something wrong? LeftRudder.trk
  14. left rudder during cruise Seems to me that with the new FM you need significant left rudder at cruise conditions (before the rudder position was more or less in neutral). Anybody else notice that?
  15. Will you (and others) be posting their missions also on the DCS home webpage under "User files"? Would be easier to keep track of the various missions posted that way. However, I noticed their is no way to select the UH-1 as the main aircraft of the mission (other aircraft can be selected as filters when searching through the various posts...)
  16. Great! This will be a super-hi-fidelity sim, them having a Mi-8 pilot amongst their ranks!
  17. Doing a ramp start on the CVN-70 deck (version 1.2.4.11855) . Huey (completely powered down) moves around the deck, wait a minute or two, and it'll fall off. (see track) HueyBlownOffCarrierDeck.trk
  18. Sorry for being really thick here, but there is no "radio transmission from unit" as far as I know (see attached screenshot)
  19. How do you add a radio transmission to a unit. I know how to add a radio transmission from a stationary zone, but how can I add it to a moving unit (specifically a ship like CVN-70)? Thanks for your help
  20. I am starting to do ship based take-offs and landings. I have a question: do ships (like the CVN-70) have ADF or ILS beacons? If so, what are their frequencies?
  21. Where is the function of "AI task set" and "AI task push" described? How do they differ from each other, and from the old "AI task"? Thanks for anyone's help.
  22. Have the cockpit arguments for the Huey been published yet? I mean those parameters that can be used together with the "X: cockpit argument in range" and similar conditions in the mission editor. If so, where can I find them?
  23. Hi Wess, In the briefing message at the beginning of the mission you state that the "ass" group broadcasts its position at 1750 ADF (I should be able to receive that signal just like a NDB signal, right, and the correct heading will be displayed on the ADF compass, right?). I can't receive their signal though, and I also don't see where in the mission file you set this up (probably just overlooking something).
  24. Hi Bushmanni, The autopilot need not be the co-pilot. If you use the autopilot when you perform door gunner functions, the pilot will still fly the helo. When the co-pilot dies, the autopilot feature should still be available, for the above reason.
