kind of OT: watch this cool radio a/c vid
Crusty replied to hitman's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
two?...in a t33???,...do you mean a t38? My local club has a couple of jets,..personaly I prefer props and helis...damn jets, you only get a few seconds before you have to turn back to yourself..too bloody fast..them full power climbs do look good tho edit.. we have pylons running parelell to our runway about 200 metres to the side, we all fly a defined pattern and approach..most of the time, anyway..hehe -
yea it all depends on definitions, Im sure mine is different from everyone elses but for what its worth Sim..designed to teach Game....designed to be enjoyed of course its also possible to enjoy a sim and learn from a game, just as its possible for software to be a mixture of both genres so its all a bit grey really I suppose:joystick::)

Game....developers build in compromises to achieve better game-play a simulator would be built with only the accurate replication of the craft and systems in mind..the market defines it i think, nobody uses lockon to prepare for flying the real thing, tho it could inspire some to go down the pilot career line, just my thoughts

June 9th... New Black Shark Screenshots
Crusty replied to JACN's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I dont think it need be that complicated...What about just making the size of the trees damage box relate to the central third or whatever of the trees area...this would approximate to how far into the trees mass you could penetrate without major effect...with perhaps an outer layer where minimal damage would occur...simulating a tree any more involved than that..I realise could be rather out of the sims scope:) -

is the terrain and trees going to be the same as lo/fc?, I still see no change here..which I find a bit dissapointing.. .....TREES SHOULD CAUSE DAMAGE.......sorry to shout but I hope someone is listening and can perhaps clarify the tree situation...thankyou -

Im no expert, but fshost manages to act as a server for fs2004 just by parsing all the netcode..you dont need a server to run stuff like that, the clients can do all the hard work, but I guess the network functionality of lockon is not designed that way, and doubtfull I suppose that they will change it I have asked about this on ubi since I got v1 lockon...NEVER got an answer from anyone but Stormin..and he basicaly just said GRRRR RANT and called me an idiot, but thats pretty much all he ever said:joystick:

Whilst I am sure you can come up with many pictures to say otherwise....both these pics of aircraft in service in iraq shows some nice painted tanks and my experiance of day to day RAF movements generally show aircraft fitted with matching tanks...your milage may vary personely I dont give a rats armpit what the tanks look like:music_whistling: P.S. ... I m of the view that drop tanks of any kind dont generaly get dropped at all...with the air superiority enjoyed by western air forces in recent conflicts there is just no need to drop them and run...generaly speaking, ill bet 95% come back from ops with tanks still present -

Crusty replied to SuperKungFu's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I know your good bloke superkungfu, but,..........Im gonna find it hard to forgive someone misspelling "SPITFIRE" -
Hmm, I can see what your getting at, some kind of limited label could be considered a balancing factor compensating for less overall visual cues of game v RL, but somehow it would make me feel sorta....well....dirty:shifty:

Nah..you worry too much:joystick:

Carrier based aircrafts question.....
Crusty replied to NY3D's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Nice pic there, looks like it caught the wire before the wheels touched..hehe...I know it ...it was prolly a bounce after innitial touchdown, there is a good account of the carrier experiments in the book "50 years of the U2", a book I highly reccomend for anyone into the u2 or general air intelligence through the cold war to the present -

OT: Any Fighter Ops Insider here?
Crusty replied to Omega Oska's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Ok..I must be dumb or something...Can someone explain how a "company" can pay staff for four years (my wild guess at total developement time for f-ops) to produce a flight sim for a quite small market that goes out at 50-100 dollars and only sells in the thousands?...none of this adds up to me tbh lockon doesnt add up to me either -
The question suggests itself again …
Crusty replied to TucksonSonny's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Just a stab in the dark, but I would guess no I would be very happy If I'm wrong though
