Since the release of the dedicated server, I have been changing missions to be multiplayer missions by changing the player flight to 2 and making the second plane a client too. Is that the correct way of doing it?

It is not random, you still use the comms switches on the throttle, so not random. I have been adding words as I started flying in VR. I also turned off the player's voice and that really adds to realism

There is a difference between when they develop it in R&D and when marketing releases it to the market. They first want people to buy this generation. A good example of this was recent statements about 5G, Trump says he wants 6G. I thought 6G??? I looked it up and it is already being developed but they want us to first buy 5G phones and devices.

I was trying to add some words this afternoon bit when I clicked the microphone the windows speech engiywould not appear. I even tried to open ito open it directly but it will not show up. Any ideas?

I have a question, I am trying to add a Hornet checklist, I made a Word document, saved it as a PDF, imported it and found the .png file. When opened it all the text was garbage. What did I do wrong? Secondly when I goto preferences and tell it where my DCS folder is it will revert back the C drive.. meaning that after I browse to F:\program files\eagle dynamics etc etc and click save it will revert back to C:\ Program files\eagle dynamics \etc etc. so the files end up in the wrong directory. A problem is that when I place the file in the right place they don’t show up on the kneeboard during flight. Thank for your help 8n advance

So you are able to run in a windows virtual machine? I saw the message regarding DX11 and how that would be a problem on servers. My son has several servers that he runs VM's on for other games.

Regarding the use of power that you reference is how it works in real life. And regarding the FCS page that is good advise and and explanation

This thread has been very useful, also Les's videos. Being an RL pilot I understand the power and AOA. What I notice the pitch up when adding flaps which normal so my response is to trim down. I think it was set in a post a few back, the rim switch sets the AOA not pitch angle. But I see something I don't understand, I set the trim value to something on the FCS page lets say 8 and then I see the FCS change it again. So should I just wait and let it settle? The problem is that the nose pitches up so much that the loss of airspeed makes me lose a lot of altitude. I picked up a lots of good tips here that I will start practicing shortly

I am not sure why you are telling me about the hardware you are using. I replied to someone who had a problem finding the server on his local network. So do you connect it by finding your server in the public server list and not by connecting to it by direct IP? Thanks

I might have an idea, as you are running the server and client on the same network there might be an IP address problem. When I start the server it shows me my external IP address and when I tried to connect to it I got an error message. I looked at the log on the server. Click on the 3 short lines in the upper left corner, a menu opens, underneath you see this symbol </> that is the log look for a line that says ====== end of init. Look below I saw a line that said external ip xxx.xxx.xx.xx is redirected to internal IP xxx.xxx.xx.xxx. I then used the internal IP on the client and I could connect in MP using connect to IP. I am not certain this is the same problem you had but I wanted to share it.

I just flew the mission Worlds most expensive courier F18C R4 in VR, great FPS more than enough detail. I had my laptop be the server and my gaming PC connected it. Mission took over 1 hour no problems what so ever. It took a week o gt VR right ut it is so worth it.:pilotfly: Edit: And I used VoiceAttak o control some airplane systems. I am extending the list

Based upon another thread I see Nivida to default and turned off Steam sampling etc. application resolution to 200% Shadows and MSAA off and the quality is about the same but my FPS is higher. About 5 - 8 higher.

I was thinking about the same things but then if I would switch to VR I would not need some o these. I just tried and if I turn the controllers on I have no issue. Now during my flight, they turned off and I had to take my HMD off and the problem was back. So I think I can confirm what you are saying. Thanks so much! You always wonder if something is broken or if you do something wrong

Got it thanks, I was running it exactly like that, I have tried PD between 1.3 and 1.6. the latter looks the best although I still have the shimmering even with a plane parked right next to me. 1.3 helps with the FPS. I could not afford the 2080, part of my brain thinks I am crazy for spending $600 for the 2070. oh and $300 on the Odessey+ and 150 on an additional 16GB of ram last month. And I still want to get a few other things like desk clamps and the Pointcontrol finger units for sure. :megalol:

what do you mean? I have WMR and SteamVR and DCS on my desktop. It seems to work best if I start DCS and that startup SteamVR. The WMR app is always open as the HMD is connected to my PC

I was warned by a friend that going into VR can be frustrating (and expensive) but it is getting better. Different beat versions have an effect on VR. there was one recently that made a big positive difference. I did not see a difference after the upgrade yesterday but my friend thought it was a little bit less. We know ED is working on making it better and with more people switching to VR it will get there. We are also pushing the (affordable) technology limit. Peter

I had this issue yesterday after the update and yes I fly the F18. I thought I was touching the POV button

Regarding the shimmering, I just upgraded from GTX 1060 to a RTX2070 (not 2080 because it was jus t expensive) and I saw not difference in the shimmering. So what monster card are you referring to? I am happy to read this so that I can stop trying t find the best settings. I have probably spent 20 hours at least in the last week trying out different settings.

Well they are a business that we all want to stay in business right? So they have to charge for things. I am amazed about the details that in the F/A-18C and can only imagine the man hours that went into that.
