  1. Ah, so the way I do it I do not need aft short; needless extra step. Thanks! Edit: and come to think of it, the video I learned how to use FC from the guy was slewing the maverick around so makes sense that he would do that. I just adapted it to my preference of using the TGP to set a SPI
  2. I do boat forward , boar center, tms aft, tms forward. Maybe I am doing it wrong or adding a step I dont need, but that is my procedure...
  3. This book is 40 years old and hasn't been updated in 20. It has a lot of critics today for being no longer relevant, especially on large projects.
  4. I think I realize how important revenue is for them, regardless of whether it is from this, modules, edge or anything else. They obviously think this will make money and edge (by way of additional maps) will make money. Edge will take longer than this obviously did. But like I said, I won't buy campaigns and to me the morbid curiosity question was, is there really a market for it? It wasn't a criticism of the idea; just from my POV surprising that there is a market for it. Anyway, if all I'm going to do is get badgered for asking and suggesting that there could possibly be even one person working on one that could be working on the other I'll drop it. It really wasn't _that_ important to me. (Edit: and for the record I am fine with the fact that money pays the bills and the people that work; EDGE gets ED and it's employees nothing if it doesn't bring in money; most companies and people can't and won't work for nothing; simple economics and reality of life)
  5. I buy that line in some cases. I do not believe a guy that does art work programs and vice versa. But when it comes to developing a new system to implement pay campaigns or debugging problems in EDGE I tend to believe there may be some overlap. Maybe I'm all wrong, but I am not always convinced.
  6. I wish hands and time putting in pay-ware campaign support were dedicated to getting EDGE functional instead. I don't know about others, but I don't even play the campaigns we get now and you'll almost certainly never get me to drop money on one I have to pay for... I'll collect planes and even maps like a kid with a pokemon addiction, but not campaigns... But realizing I am not the center of the universe to anyone but me maybe others feel differently? Just seems like an odd tactic to me. I never underestimate my capacity to be the weird one though.
  7. Also, is there a way to set sane altitudes for flight? It seems choppers are OK, never straying ridiculously high, but huge bombers and cargo planes are practically scraping the ground. It looks odd...
  8. Can additional client slots be opened up like this? I have written up a mission or two for small groups of people (3-4), where their is an A-A component, SEAD, and then finally ground attack. It's more enjoyable if people fly a part of the mission together, so if I could adapt this to where say, we go up in F-15C's to start, once the mission objective for them is complete Su-25T's spawn for SEAD, once their objective is complete, A-10C's, Ka-50's, whatever spawn kind of thing.
  9. TeamSpeak running? If so try closing it. There is a press to talk setting that can mess with Saitek software. It's on the press to talk page; you want Keyboard & Mouse only from bottom drop down if it turns out to be the issue; anyway it results in all manner of flaky hotas problems, so wouldn't be surprised.
  10. http:// http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/12/mach-2-hair-on-fire-ars-flies-the-navys-fa-18-sim-into-the-danger-zone/ From a tech site I follow.
  11. I cant see well, but i wonder if one is actually a suu-25 pod for flares or something.
  12. Ya, at worst. Its a pretty boring strategy but it will kill things for sure.
  13. A game based on realistic operation to the extent that is possible and reasonable. I dont want some fake ghost recon hud that never could or will exist on my sim, thanks.
  14. Drop 9 or so in ripple singles at 1500 HOF with a 300 meter spread over a large group of targets and BOOM!!!!!!!
  15. Normal behavior. I think the setting you might like to change is HOF. By default it's 1500 feet. You can reduce it so they separate lower and take less time to get down, but the area with which they can deatroy targets will be smaller. To me: what's the rush?
  16. Woohoo! The DCS community needs more Hawks!!! Good luck guys!
  17. The dirogatory term has two g's (and can also mean a bundle of sticks). The planes NATO designation has one g. At least that's my take on it. I guess it's pretty much interchangeable and maybe my distinction is my own.
  18. Which one was a general? I though they were governors. The USS Ponce is named after the city of Ponce named after http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juan_Ponce_de_Le%C3%B3n_y_Loayza Also, Ponce doesn't have the same connotation in the US, no matter how unfortunately it does elsewhere.
  19. Yes. One site claims 27 resignations. Really? 1/10th of the ship resigned? And that would have to be officers mind you; enlisted don't get to resign. That just sounds utterly and completely absurd. The compliment according to Wikipedia is 33 Officers. I guess a few hardened souls stuck around. As many have pointed out why would the Russians reveal such a piece of tech to screw with a single American ship as a test. And foreign planes screwing around near American ships is nothing new. When my ex-wife was deployed on Bataan she told me one particular story (I don't remember the details well, sorry) that made me wonder how the hell they could allow it. But then shooting them down could start a war, so blowing warplanes out of the sky probably isn't the thing to do, despite everyone's first instinct to be that they should. Another points out this may be propaganda to try and cast doubt on purchase of American systems by.... Poland: http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/03/21/us-poland-defence-idUSBREA2K1A320140321
  20. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bis Seems latin; similar meaning in music. Interesting; learn something new. edit: and used by French and Italian audiences to request an encore apparently: http://www.yourdictionary.com/bis crazy what you learn waiting for a MiG
  21. true case of selective reading. I stopped at December 12th. :music_whistling:
  22. Why not in the store?!!? Also, is MiG-21Bis and MiG-15Bis a coincidence, or is there something about Bis lines that's particularly interesting? I don't know much about MiG's or even what 'Bis' means, so I guess if I knew that it might explain.
  23. If you want it easily accessible to others, once its working set up ddns on your router or pc with one of the free services. You can get a name like ts.blabla.net or whatever. If you own a domain, set up a cname and your server is super easily accessible. I dont know if a 'so you want to set up a squadron' thread would be helpful, but I could go through the process of setting up a php board, ts, etc. all for 'free' to cheap (less than $20 a year) if you have an always on home computer/server. Ive been half heartedly setting up such a thing (78th-dcs.com) and it's pretty easy and has thus far cost me $12 for the domain for a year. I have not set up a dedicated server, but that's on the horizon. I've just been mulling over whether to wait for awhile after DCSW 2.0 in hopes of actually seeing an actual real dedicated server...
  24. I wouldnt have shot my buddy down with an aim 120 last night if i had a sparrow handy....
  25. I am glad we could fix that for at least a few people
