  1. Were you using a DK1 or DK2? I have heard the DK2 is much better about sickness for a number of reasons. I tried both and I didn't notice very much difference as it was just a few minutes with each. I wasn't using either long enough to decide if it would make me sick, but the short time didn't get to me.
  2. I got to try OR with a couple games today (not DCS unfortunately) and it's absolutely amazing. I can't wait to get one and run DCS with it. It will be amazing!
  3. Feels very appropriate: http://southpark.cc.com/clips/eg6qhs/butters-freezes-cartman
  4. Bought as soon as I saw the forum this morning. Hope there are many many more sales to follow for you guys this morning! Spammed my friends and let them know it's purchasable to try and help the cause :D
  5. If I lose the HUD I can usually get ballpark with the HMS, and then it's not so hard to get on target. You are right that otherwise, without the HUD, to figure out where it's pointing is tough.
  6. No pre-purchase? I want to give you money and memorize my license number for release day :D
  7. No, he literally just flies straight into a mountain as soon as you unpause. It's not several seconds later, not 3 seconds later. Unpause looking towards him and watch him hit a mountain immediately. You have no hope of accessing the radio menu to save him. He's just starting too low. Seriously. It's a quick mission, fly it, try it. See for yourself.
  8. I know how to tell AI to engage targets of opportunity. They just don't. And this mission doesn't leave ample time to sit and coddle each wingman and help him find his targets. The 2 with Phantasmagorias are capable of taking out the hawks and others on their own. What I am seeing is the AI refusing to engage when ordered to take out targets of orpportunity. Wingman 4, with the LLTV, negative, negative, negative, blah blah. I see the CAS flights and any wingmen still alive at the end flying around with racks of weapons. If you _really_ need a track to see it I can produce, but given that it's a quick mission it can't be that hard to reproduce it...
  9. I should add that just rolling back the time a few hours gives a massive change in experience. AI aircraft become useful. The tanks also start firing their missiles as well though, and I don't know that that is desired or possible at night, so it may be off balancing taking that approach.
  10. Are AI wingmen able to use the LLTV pod? I have been trying to play the Difficult CAS quick mission, which seems to have other issues (one wingman is set up to fly straight into a mountain on start, for example) and what I typically see is the aircraft with Phantasmagoria's attacking radar targets while the ones with LLTV's just orbit with a full compliment of weapons and no place to go. I literally have more targets to destroy than weapons on that one and there is just about no help coming from the AI units.
  11. Thanks Cobra. Sound advise, I'm sure. Any attempt from a new group is likely to involve a learning period and a reset or two as they learn their way around. Thank you as well Buzzles. I'm sure the demo will be helpful too.
  12. Cool. Well, as I said, I am game. I don't know what the first steps would be, but I'd be happy to start helping sort that out and getting it off the ground.
  13. I'd be interested in collaborating with a small group on a module. I'm fairly technical and scripting is no problem, programming I can pick up easily enough. Not artistic at all so unless you want a jet flown by a stick figure I'm not game for any of the modeling. I can manage math. Linear algebra was a much stronger point than Calculus, but I still mustered two semesters with decent grades. Rusty, but I can relearn and comprehend. I can put in several hours in the evenings multiple days a week (3-4 days, 5 plus hours a day) during the week. Often probably more.
  14. Worth it.
  15. Great information! Thank you for the response. More excited and hopeful for a W than ever!
  16. It does sound sweet. It's probably not something you ever see in real life. Who knows maybe it is.. I was under the impression the Z could carry 16 hellfires, whereas the W can only carry 8? Is that true or false? Also, whether 8 or 16 can the W carry TOWS and Hellfires at the same time? Like 4 ea. on opposite wings? Even if possible would it ever be done, or would the weight difference be too much, or some other reason?
  17. Btw, I believe I've heard of even 'legitimate' flights have been met by military police on the taxiway because of botched paperwork. Taxiing an aircraft without permission... forget it. Even if you know how to prep (something not covered in the game) an A-10C for flight, somehow manage to get to one, start it up, and start taxiing.... good luck with your court appearance is all I'm going to say.
  18. They didn't change any procedures to my knowledge. Some stuff is classified and not modeled (IFF is one example I think) but otherwise it's modeled to the extent they could.
  19. Being ADD at lunch and skipped through. I don't think I made it to 5 ;) But thanks for confirming :)
  20. At about 3:22 is that grass blowing in the wind? Holy cow if so!
  21. What did this model spitfire have for armament? 2 20mm and 2 or 4 MG?
  22. First thing is the flight starts too low over some mountains. Wingman 3 starts just smashing into a mountain. Always. Starting the flight a thousand feet higher saves the day. The CAS flights also seem a little loony. Doing nothing or engaging the hawks rather than doing CAS.
  23. Everyone always just passes off Wikipedia as unreliable. Usually statement of facts like service ceiling is followed by a reference. Consider the reference not Wikipedia. In this case they state up front data was taken from a snapshot from the USAF website/factsheet, Jane's, and another. I consider the USAF a pretty good source for information about the F-15... This is a skill you should have practiced in high school.
  24. Try turning off labels if you have them on. I notice a huge performance hit with them on. It's all the more incentive to learn to fly without them ;)
  25. The interface in 8.1 is less jarring to someone used to Win 7 than 8 was. It's not my favourite (I'm not even a windows user save for the flight sims) but it works well and is stable.
