I'll say it again. There is a Flak script available. It's not too shabby and a lot more scalable, from easy to insanely difficult, than the existing AI settings permit. Place a Zu-23, set ROE to don't engage and set up the script. Instant 88. Set up as many or as few as you want. Individual or batteries, etc. You know maps are coming, right? You know there are workarounds available until then, right? You build a map and there are no plains no point. You build planes and no map no point. You build a plane without a rival and there is no point. You realize something has to come first, right?

Tacview 2.0, a glimpse into the future of flight analysis

How does the online debriefing work? Does this work only for the person that purchased it? Or, say if I install it on my server can players involved in a server mission look at a mission debriefing? Regardless, it looks and sounds pretty cool and I will probably purchase it down the road a couple months when finances lighten up - I'm just trying to understand in the meantime. -
It's possible to do WWII missions. It's not 100%, but for instance I set up a depot with a couple truck convoys unloading supplies and placing them on a train, put down a station, crossing, couple guard towers... Put down a few ZU-23 set their ROE to not engage and use the Flak script for defense. When attack radio in FW's to fight. It's a little out of the way from the cities so they're not too immersion breaking.... it works and is easy to translate when we get a proper map... ideal? no. But hardly bad enough to have to not use the aircraft.

I don't think having an A6M would be a bad thing. It was an iconic aircraft and some people always excel with an underdog aircraft by making use of it's strength (getting people to engage in turning fights in the case of the zero probably). It's just guesses anyway. We could get a Ki or something too. Or maybe none of the above.

Thanks for the hint! Every new module is an education.

Reading, yes it seems the A and B both had bombing capability added. I see the bomb in the plane in the pic obviously, but I have no idea how to tell an A from a B visually. Well, ya so I don't care about the letter. It would just be nice to do those fly in, strategic strike missions and either have to fight your way in or out, all in one A-A and A-G for a couple or few people type missions. Same reason I want the F/A-18C. I dont fly with big groups, so having to have enough people to have both F-15's and A-10C's is a bit much of a requirement most of the time, so missions end up A-A or A-G.

Bombcat is F-14B, no? I think part of the confusion is the F-14B was originally designated F-14A+, and renamed F-14B later. So my take is F-14A < F-14A+ and F-14A+ == F-14B. Or maybe I'm confused. I've just been reading up on the variants recently since everyone is guessing at which we might get so I could easily be confused. It also sounds like many units never saw the F-14D because of politics. And differences in F-14B and D do not seem as extreme as A to B (and particulalry bombcat which sounds like it may have been an upgrade to the B even after the B designation..., but maybe not, not finding very clear info...)

I have a simple mission where a flight of P-51's as a fighter sweep are in orbit. You can hit \ F10 F1 to set em on their way, and it works about half the time. Even have a message sent to say they're on their way, and remove the radio message. Pretty simple, yet sometimes it doesn't work and telling them proceed doesn''t teip the flag, release their orbit, or send the message. I guess I could have an error even in this simple getup, but reload the mission, try again, and it works, reload, try again, nothing.... it was literally like every other time I reloaded the mission when testing. Very weird and suspicious to me. Perfectly willing to share the silly mission if someone aants to pole at it for errors in logic...

Here we go. Patently _not_ generalizing, I asked what is so special about any of the systems in an F-14D that's out of service compared to say an A-10C that is in service. If you don't know just say, "I don't know". If it's the radar say, "radar". Otherwise YOU are the one generalizing by saying it uses some systems in service and can't be reasonably simulated.
-
Right, but that alone is flawed reasoning. The A-10C has a lot in common with itself and it's still in service. I also thought a lot was known about certain blocks of F-16's as well. If the Navy is more protective than the airforce or fighter tech is more protected than ground smashing tech it'd be rational. It seems like something else is relevant besides just systems being still in use. But I was in the miltary and I know rational thinking is a rare breed, so maybe it's just what it is.

Morbid curiosity - I am not challenging, because I have no indepth knowledge to even pretend to challenge with... How did this happen with the A-10C and the Ka-50.. both are still operating; F-14D is done and gone yet still classified? How can that be? Are ground pounding aircraft less classified than fighters or something?

Anyone see my AT-802U in there? I might cry if that thing is (still) only a joke...
-
No, i saw the one left of the sight as well. I couldnt place it in pictures i found earlier. Maybe this is not the cat im looking for and it is indeed a corsair. Theres always tomcat instead for cat. Corsair was not a great carrier plane though, right? Mostly Marines from land?
-
What makes you so certain? The instruments are very similarly laid out and that is a feint picture. Convince me :-p
-
There is a faint cockpit on the left side. Looks like F6F or F4U to me, but I side with F6F based on their 'cat' hint...

Demonstrate mig-21bis landing with keyboard only please -
I personally just put the address where the info to connect can be found in the server name, like "78th DCS Attack Squadron http://78th-dcs.com". I'm hardly the first person to do it, but it seems like a good idea to me. That way people wanting to connect they have a pretty good idea where to start. It'd be a pretty cool if the server setup could optionally take and display a squadron url and/or Comms url, that way people could fill it in and it would be more visible and easier to find. That doesn't seem that hard to me, but I'm sure it's hardly a priority to ED.

I think there are some kind of 'standard setup' for a typical military airbase, etc. So many AAA at such and such ranges, Long/Medium/Short Range SAM's at their locations and ranges as well, to create a proper umbrella. I seem to remember seeing someone posting something like that, at least for Russians at some point, though I have no idea where off hand. It would be nice to flick the airbase Redfor or Blufor (as we can now) and choose air standard air defenses for a given country. But yes, even having a patriot, hawk, sa-11 or whatever template would be good too, so everything needed and likely to be seen together would populate, and you just move it around a bit as you like.
-
Possibly. I mean you could easily copy a layout, or set it up once the way you like it and paste it. I made a wishlist/request once for templates for things like FARPS, ship convoys, airbase sam defenses, armor convoys, etc. You could just populate a miz with all your favorite templates and copy and paste them where you need them. I do wish we could flick an airbase one way or the other and check like a 'standard defenses' and get some reasonable approximation of a realistic airbase defense set up as far as armor, SAM's, AAA, etc. for each. It would ease populating a map. re: avatar, thanks. I usually use Hudson as my callsign/name in multiplayer. Love that universe.
-
I copy and paste all the time. Ctrl-c ctrl-v. You can shift click a gaggle of units and do the same. Between missions too. Shift click units, ctrl-c, open different mission, ctrl-v, life is good.

Any update to Stable or Open Beta is ALWAYS announced in the Official Updates sub-forum. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=135945 Jan 16 OB Jan 21 Stable All that was changed between Open Beta and release was a manual and logbook fix. Would ED have stopped the release if they were alerted? I can't say, but you had time to test. You as a hoster were in no way prevented or discouraged from participating. I host a dedicated server as well. I was able to test. I'd love to sign an NDA and be a super secret ED tester, but the argument that hoster = special attention is a pretty weak one to me.
-
@Op if you want to know when there are beta ipdates maybe subscribe to the news forum? Maybe even uses Tapatalk or something to get push notifications. Then you'll know when there is an update? Then you can check it out ASAP without expecting ED to notify you personally and wait for your approval?

What is your video recording setup?
xaoslaad replied to Mike Busutil's topic in Screenshots and Videos
I use Shadowplay now. I used to use Fraps, but it's mostly redundant with Shadowplay now. There are rare occasions I use it for screenshots where games don't offer it and printscreen doesn't work (the DCS Mission Editor being a relevant example here) since I have it from long before the time of Shadowplay. Shadowplay is obviously only good though if you have an NVidia card, though if you do it has that nice price point of free. I use Handbrake for transcoding to reduce video size before uploading it to Youtube so it doesn't take all bleeding year long. It's free. Youtube has a bit of an editor at https://www.youtube.com/editor that I will use to do the minimal editing I might ever want to do. Video editing is not really my thing though, so there may be better options. Also has the plus of being free. I like that price.
