I'm with you on wanting the jammer aircraft, but I doubt people will settle for a 'less than realistic' implementation and that stuff from what I understand is about as secret as secret gets so we're probably not likely to see them. I don't know if it could be done the way are jammers work now where you have to be closer to the SAM for it to be able to 'burn through' like I guess our ECM pods work now, and if that effect could be amplified and made to benefit other aircraft in the range of the jammer aircraft, and if that's even remotely how it works or would be an acceptable implementation. Right now on the A-10C, etc. we flick a switch and magic happens in the background. I don't know if the interface for these systems is so simple on those specialized aircraft and if they could even get enough info to model the interface remotely accurately. Anyway, food for thought on why not to hold your breath. But I'll pray with you. :smilewink: This makes me love this stuff and the idea of flying something like this to aid a flight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPzFXW2KT2I

How can I make the cannons UNLIMITED ?
xaoslaad replied to Newbie Simmer's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Gun pods? I think at least the Su-25(T)'s have those? -
Sure, you say ego, but I go to the post that I created to report the bug to see status and now I have to go to another to see the update, when clearly mine was the original report. So your time is worth more than mine now. I deal with bug triaging, and I consider it a courtesy to the reporters to do an accurate job...
-
neither does your opinion matter to me, frankly.
-
If I report something on 4/4 and someone else reports it on 4/6, why is my bug marked duplicate? :music_whistling: I realize it's not _that_ big a deal, but still.
-
Looking at the tire it did not appear damaged. That is what I initially expected to see... unsure. Maybe I can try to recreate it and upload a track, otherwise at this point it's just annecdotal.
-
I landed hot, and just mashed the wheel break... something seemed to happen/break. Things got wobbly, but it didn't stop me stopping, turning around, and taking off again. Not sure if I 'just' broke the breaks, or what happened.
-
Thanks Sobek. I can see the huge difference in the distance the front tire turns when holding down the S key. Definitely makes a difference on turn radius.
-
dont know if it's a bug Not sure if it's a bug, or by design. I have no idea what the true ground turning radius of a F-15C is :-P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2R3FvS4xr4&t=0m10s
-
Is the F-15C ground turning radius supposed to be the earth? I am finding it very difficult to taxi in confined areas where it was previously no problem. If this is accurate so be it, but is definitely a marked change.

Hey, he was able to walk away. You know what they say!

1.2.8 Open Beta Preliminary Change Log
xaoslaad replied to upupandaway's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
It wouldn't be a bad aicraft for them to start working on multi-seat on. Just getting it to where two people can sit in the pit with one controlling it and one along for the ride is a start.... whether that's their intention, and even if it is, whether that's ready for 1.2.8 only ED knows. I'm happy to have another aircraft in either case... -
Virtual Aerobatics Server Had a good time flying with everyone on the Virtual Aerobatics server last night. We landed 4 A-10's (think we had an A or two in the mix) on the runway in one go without so much as a bent rivet, which I would consider pretty good considering some of us were complete strangers to the group and unfamiliar with each others flying skills and styles. We also had an F-15C, F/A-18C, and a 5th A-10 join us on the ground a bit later. Anyway, thanks for the flight everyone, fun times.

ED support is doing great with the new kickstarter site issues. I know it's probably a huge pain fixing the issues, and though I have access now to the backer site I'm still down and out when it comes to the forums. That said I have gotten an email ever day in response to mine, which I find refreshing and completely atypical of support for most things today. So thanks again for the effort, and quick responses. It is appreciated!

Automatic Turn to Target button won't light up
xaoslaad replied to Felonious_Monk's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Make sure your weapon systems are on as well. And as others said the sckval sight is what you turn toward. When lazy I will slew the schval to the helmut mounted sight and just use that to turn the chopper by looking where I want to go. -
I still think this whole fiasco about module versus separate install was not very clear in the kickstarter. Regardless, module activation is just a registry key from what I can tell, especially with the advent of the open beta and not having to reactivate stuff, so their promise to let you fly any aircraft in either seems reasonable... so then why not just make wwii a module to install, or let wwii install without the 'world' stuff if they want to have a separate installer. It makes no sense that _anything_ would not be a module. Essentially, pick your base, Modern or WWII, and install. If you want the other grab the module for it, so I'm just being patient and hoping they do something intelligent.

Eyes. Always wanted to fly choppers in the military, but wasn't going to happen. Went ground instead, loved it anyway. Still want to get a civ license, but that will be down the road a ways, if at all, due to the expense.
-
P*Funk, I'm sure that is the case. In a real chopper center would probably be no more mushy than any other position and so just as accurate. Even if it were, trimming holds it out of center so it would be a moot point most of the time anyway.
-
I realize a lot of people spout 'trim constantly' but I don't use the trimmer much at all. Maybe if I need to steady the thing when I'm preparing to fire on targets, but honestly with most stuff required to engage targets mapped to the hotas even then it's not a huge priority for me. TIR and head tracking are a great aid to this as well. My point is that I don't think it is automatically required and an automatic fail if you don't. I personally like the stick pushing back a little rather than dead center. Even with the warthog I find having it out of center allows for a bit more precise manipulation. To each their own though. I haven't even clicked Submit Reply and can already here people shouting this at me: :megalol:

That might make sense. :) I was guessing, "we know a bunch of characteristics about the pod, so the game will make the aircraft behave properly when it is attached", based on the comment about the ones already existing in DCS World only needing a little touch up. But maybe it is more the case that the devs need to know the affects on the specific aircraft. Again, not really important/soul crushing to me if it is/isn't there. Just morbid curiosity.
-
I don't think anyone insinuated they don't. People saw a picture with a lot of weapons in it and a smaller list of weapons available/to be available and were curious. Not that they have to explain themselves to us if they don't want, but people are anxious for the module and are probably on some level curious of why and why not those things will/won't be included.
-
Just because morbid curiosity rules my life: Is the GUV-8700 not the same pod as is available on the Mi-8? If so can that implementation not be reused? I know it's another third party, but I guess I don't follow if they implemented the weapon in DCS and you can make use of it or if it is their implementation and theirs alone to use. Or maybe I'm crazy and they're not the same at all. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/products/magnificent_eight/?PAGEN_2=5 ГУВ-8700 (GUV-8700) universal gun pod equipped in the following configurations: 9-A-800: single AP-30 30 mm automatic grenade launcher 9-A-624/622: single YakB-12,7 12.7 mm four barrel machine gun and two GShG-7,62 7.62 mm four-barrel machine guns

Ya, I saw you mention that. Did you hit the grass at any point? Taxiing excessively fast? Seems odd, but then I had to listen to the AOA indicator the entire time I was rearming between flights last night, which..., so I don't necessarily blame everything on pilot error.
-
Yep. I tend to come in a lot hotter than the tutorials suggest, full flaps, air brake, and gear extended, riding the throttle pretty high, just to make sure I have enough power to flare the aircraft sufficiently to reduce the decent rate to no more than -2 m/s as indicated by the vertical velocity indicator on the right of the HUD when you press the 1 key. It's not how they teach you to land it in the tutorials, but when you pull back the throttle with full flaps and air brakes extended you bleed speed fast and can get down to where you can release the chutes quickly at which point you stop in no time. Plainly, I would rather glide down a third of the runway than hit too hard. With the chutes it's not hard to stop even with half a runway behind you. But my bad landing technique is sort of OT. Just explaining how I avoid damaging the gear.
-
I believe that sounds occurs when something to do with the landing gear is damaged. I heard it many times before I learned how to put the 25 down gently enough for its balsa wood landing gear to survive.
