+1. Also only noticeable in the left eye.
-
I am also still seeing the ground clutter flickering. I am also seeing a return of the shadow/reflection glitches that were present in the release version previously. Reflections and shadows of hills and trees on the water can appear way out of place and are very distracting. I am also seeing the disappearing of blocks of scenery in my peripheral view when I look around, mostly noticeable on the left side for some reason. So if I turn left, the imagery on the far left of the landscape will be missing blocks of terrain, and when I turn my head back to forward view the imagery will again be missing in the peripheral view while my head is turning. I didn't notice this until two updates of the beta ago, when the new VR features were implemented.

In my experience I need to use numpad 5 to re-centre the view each time I start DCS World. The game picks up the position of the headset in relation to the sensor on startup, so each time you start DCS World you will need to get in your comfortable forward looking position and press numpad 5 to re-centre the view. With some aircraft I find you may need to sit a little bit forward or lower or higher to get you comfortable seated position in the right position to see the HUD and target reticule etc. Cheers,

I meant how would your senses be affected the next time you flew an aircraft IRL after using the Rift, or especially after using the Rift on and off over a long period. Cheers,
-
Yeah my advice would be playing in short bursts until your eyes and inner ear are in sync. I have suffered from motion sickness in real aircraft before so I was nervous after reading all the reports of motion sickness. The first few times using the Rift I did feel a little dizzy but I have luckily not really suffered from any sickness. I still get a little dizzy at times now, although I've only had the Rift for around a month. I think if you start to feel at all uncomfortable or dizzy it is time to take a break. Just use it over short periods. I even felt a little strange the first time using the Rift during the Dreamscape experiences. First few times in the aircraft in DCS and P3D was also a little strange, especially diving and rolling. However one of the first missions I used in DCS world was the F-86 "Flight Suit Attitude" mission and after a few goes at this I was soon over any motion sickness. I think you really need to keep telling yourself (or thinking to yourself) that you are not really rolling or diving etc as it is just your eyes playing tricks on your body. I did have a thought though; I wonder how using the Rift would affect your senses in real world flying. Cheers,

Profiles between DCS World versions
scotth6 replied to scotth6's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That worked really well Lobinjaevel, thanks. Originally I tried to just load the saved lua profile from the controls section in the game menu, and that's what did not work. Using your method of copying and pasting the actual input folder in to the different DCS World version solved the issue. BTW, I found my Input folder in "User/Saved Games/DCSxxx/Config/Input". Thanks again for the help. Cheers, -
Profiles between DCS World versions
scotth6 replied to scotth6's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks a lot, I will give it a try. Cheers, -
Hi, I was just wondering if it possible to use lua profiles between versions of DCS World. The reason I ask is because I just tried to load a profile I saved yesterday in DCS World 2 for the F-15C in to DCS World 1.5 Open Beta. It didn't seem to work. For some reason whenever I load a new aircraft I haven't flown before, or for a while in the newer versions of DCS World, my controls are all over the place. I just loaded up an instant start flight in DCS World Beta and my thrust moves my rudder etc etc. I had the same thing in DCS World 2 yesterday and spent an hour or two setting up my various controls. It's really annoying to not even have basic controls without going through the whole process every time I want to fly a different aircraft. Shouldn't the lua profile I saved work in another version? Cheers,

Every time I have been hit by a missile in the M2000C it has ended up being a very bad day. I have only encountered A2A missiles so far. The Russian missiles seem to air burst quite a bit (not sure if that's their design or if I just have more luck avoiding a direct hit) but I will usually end up with nose cone missing (this happens a lot) and holes throughout the wings and fuselage, usually resulting in a total loss of control. I can sometimes just keep it airborne. Against Aim-120B A2A missiles I will usually just die an instant fiery death. It doesn't seem so survivable in my experience. Cheers,
-
Thanks bro. Good to know. I was having a good time watching the other aircraft anyway. Cheers,
-
OK I seem to have found the trick now. I don't know if you have to, but when I flicked through the airport views watching the other flights taking off, I ended up at Sochi, and after the F-16s took off the view then switched to me sitting in my cockpit. I watched the aircraft for ages previously and it didn't switch to my cockpit view, so it seems you do need to be looking at Sochi for it to work. Either way this was another mission that is CTD half way through, and I will assume it has to do with the radar and/or jamming issue. Cheers,

Hi, I did a search but couldn't find any other threads or reports on this. When using the Escort the Vipers mission in DCS World V1.5 my aircraft does not appear at all. For that matter there are no Mirage 2000Cs to be seen anywhere. When the mission starts it is on the Mission planner screen and I can see all the aircraft on the map, but no Mirage 2000Cs, so no me either. I can cycle through the views to see every other aircraft that is supposed to be there, but no Mirage 2000Cs to be seen. Obviously as a result pressing F1 does nothing. Cheers,

DCS World 1.5 Release CTDs continue
scotth6 replied to scotth6's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Another test. This time I flew the Mirage 2000 - F-16 Recce mission in release version 1.5. This time I was using all ECM as normal, and there was no CTD. Mission completed and RTB with no CTD. Cheers, -
DCS World 1.5 Release CTDs continue
scotth6 replied to scotth6's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Thanks for the info Pikey. I will have to go in to combat without my shield for a while. ;) Edit: Kind of confirmed this was more of a Mirage issue, although my 1.5 release version still CTDs on exit almost every time. I just flew the Mirage 2000/F-4 mission in 1.5 open beta, and the only ECM I had turned on was my RWR. This time I managed to down two bandits before a CTD, with the faulting module again being M2KC_CPT.dll. Cheers, -
Hi, I am continuing to have problems with CTDs in DCS World 1.5 Release. As explained and logged in another thread, there continue to be CTDs on exit whenever I fly in more than one mission per session, whether it is a campaign, or training, it doesn't matter. More recently I have been getting CTDs during missions. I just had 1.5 updated tonight on startup, and I had two consecutive CTDs in the same Mirage 2000 mission (F-4s). Both occurred in roughly the same place in the scenario, at the beginning of combat with the F-4s, although the second CTD happened before I could even get a shot off or a merge. I will attach my logs and the Windows event viewer reports from tonight. The logs should be fairly comprehensive as they contain records to quite a while ago. Also just as a comparison, I have been using 1.5 Open beta the past week, flying the F-86, and I don't think I've had any CTDs, even flying almost all of the training missions in one session, several times, and with quite a bit of use overall. This is happening far too often and not just with one module. A while back I was having problems with CTDs during the A-10C campaign. The only version I have issues with is the 1.5 Release version. 1.5 beta and 2.0 alpha work fine. Cheers, DCSWorld_CTD_130416.txt Logs_SH_130416.zip

Your mission briefing outlines the number and location of most targets, so it is helpful to remember their position in relation to waypoints. Have the waypoint closest to the targets set as your steerpoint and then work from there at standoff range using your TGP. Use the brightness and contrast controls on your TGP to improve the visibility of targets. Use RWR triangulation for other threats such as SAMs and aircraft. In my opinion, there is no way it would be easier to spot targets IRL. Remember the enemy also uses defensive tactics and camouflage. Good videos to watch (and there are heaps more): DCS A-10C Ground Attack With The Targeting Pod DCS A-10C Target Acquisition tutorial Ralfi's Idiot Guide to DCS-A10C Warthog Locating Targets with RWR + TGP All on Youtube. It gave me a bit of a shock too. I should have realised it had more to do with DCS than Razbam as all the comms for aircraft are generally the same. Cheers,

I hope this hasn't been posted already so I'm not annoying anyone, but I was doing the Mirage 2000C mission "Get the mainstay" and found this pretty funny sound effect when checking on my flight towards the end of the mission. Is this someone at Razbam with a sense of humour? It seems a tiger is flying one of my flight's jets  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bxev_0S9k7HPWUYyVGxOdzc4dzQ/view?usp=sharing and for comparison: [ame] [/ame] Pretty cool I think. Thanks. I did see the HOTAS diagrams not long after I posted this. RTFM I guess :). Cheers,

I'm currently trying to map controls for the M2000C to my HOTAS warthog, and learn the functions again. It has been a little while since I flew the M2000. Does anyone know of any real world info on the HOTAS controls on the real jet? Cheers,
-
I found the problem, but I'm not sure how the problem occurred in the first place. It seems a few of my joystick controls were duplicated in my rudder pedal controls, and it was the rudder pedal column I was trying to edit. I assumed I was editing the joystick controls because all of the other joystick commands were in that column. I am also not sure why only the 37mm cannon fire button was affected as there were a lot of other controls replicated in the rudder pedal column. Strange, but I think it is now solved. I just deleted all of the duplicate entries in the rudder pedal column. I also noticed when searching for the version number of the update that the DCS World entry in control panel still shows 1.2.16. Cheers,

Hi, Today I started DCS World and had the new update automatically applied. I tried flying the Mig-15 base defence mission this afternoon and found that my 37mm cannon was no longer firing. I checked the controls and it was mapped as it was before, but I tried resetting to make sure it was mapped to the correct button on my stick. I was not able to re-apply any setting. No button I pushed was even registering on the edit control dialogue. The drop down list was also blank. I use a HOTAS Warthog, and I have had no trouble whatsoever with it, and all other controls seemed to function as normal. For some reason the button mapping is not working since the recent update(s). Cheers,

+1 I was going to start a thread to say great job, but I will chime in on this one. I really love the Mig-15. I have had it for around a year now, but only really started flyingin the new DCS World late last year. I have quite a few modules, but in general if I'm not flying the A-10C, then I am in the Mig-15. Even with just the three missions, I have not become sick of any of them, In fact I've only flown the escort mission once so far. I just keep replaying the Base defence and intercept missions, and it's a great experience every time. I just love the flight dynamics (it's not so easy to maneuver), the systems and damage modelling, and I think most of all the sound. I need to turn my speakers way up to feel that cannon thumping! It is also a beautiful model to look at. I haven't spent half as much time in the F-86 Sabre, but I do love that too. Great job and keep up the good work. Cheers,

I would prefer a historical campaign. Probably Korea vs Sabres and US bombers. Cheers,

DCS: F-86F Official Interactive Training Missions
scotth6 replied to derelor's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
I just found these. Thanks. I have figured out most of it from tutorials on the net, forums, and just flying missions, but I haven't tried any ground attack yet. Love the F-86. A fantastic module. Cheers,
