Your mission briefing outlines the number and location of most targets, so it is helpful to remember their position in relation to waypoints. Have the waypoint closest to the targets set as your steerpoint and then work from there at standoff range using your TGP. Use the brightness and contrast controls on your TGP to improve the visibility of targets. Use RWR triangulation for other threats such as SAMs and aircraft. In my opinion, there is no way it would be easier to spot targets IRL. Remember the enemy also uses defensive tactics and camouflage. Good videos to watch (and there are heaps more): DCS A-10C Ground Attack With The Targeting Pod DCS A-10C Target Acquisition tutorial Ralfi's Idiot Guide to DCS-A10C Warthog Locating Targets with RWR + TGP All on Youtube. It gave me a bit of a shock too. I should have realised it had more to do with DCS than Razbam as all the comms for aircraft are generally the same. Cheers,

I hope this hasn't been posted already so I'm not annoying anyone, but I was doing the Mirage 2000C mission "Get the mainstay" and found this pretty funny sound effect when checking on my flight towards the end of the mission. Is this someone at Razbam with a sense of humour? It seems a tiger is flying one of my flight's jets  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bxev_0S9k7HPWUYyVGxOdzc4dzQ/view?usp=sharing and for comparison: [ame] [/ame] Pretty cool I think. Thanks. I did see the HOTAS diagrams not long after I posted this. RTFM I guess :). Cheers,

I'm currently trying to map controls for the M2000C to my HOTAS warthog, and learn the functions again. It has been a little while since I flew the M2000. Does anyone know of any real world info on the HOTAS controls on the real jet? Cheers,

I found the problem, but I'm not sure how the problem occurred in the first place. It seems a few of my joystick controls were duplicated in my rudder pedal controls, and it was the rudder pedal column I was trying to edit. I assumed I was editing the joystick controls because all of the other joystick commands were in that column. I am also not sure why only the 37mm cannon fire button was affected as there were a lot of other controls replicated in the rudder pedal column. Strange, but I think it is now solved. I just deleted all of the duplicate entries in the rudder pedal column. I also noticed when searching for the version number of the update that the DCS World entry in control panel still shows 1.2.16. Cheers,

Hi, Today I started DCS World and had the new update automatically applied. I tried flying the Mig-15 base defence mission this afternoon and found that my 37mm cannon was no longer firing. I checked the controls and it was mapped as it was before, but I tried resetting to make sure it was mapped to the correct button on my stick. I was not able to re-apply any setting. No button I pushed was even registering on the edit control dialogue. The drop down list was also blank. I use a HOTAS Warthog, and I have had no trouble whatsoever with it, and all other controls seemed to function as normal. For some reason the button mapping is not working since the recent update(s). Cheers,

+1 I was going to start a thread to say great job, but I will chime in on this one. I really love the Mig-15. I have had it for around a year now, but only really started flyingin the new DCS World late last year. I have quite a few modules, but in general if I'm not flying the A-10C, then I am in the Mig-15. Even with just the three missions, I have not become sick of any of them, In fact I've only flown the escort mission once so far. I just keep replaying the Base defence and intercept missions, and it's a great experience every time. I just love the flight dynamics (it's not so easy to maneuver), the systems and damage modelling, and I think most of all the sound. I need to turn my speakers way up to feel that cannon thumping! It is also a beautiful model to look at. I haven't spent half as much time in the F-86 Sabre, but I do love that too. Great job and keep up the good work. Cheers,

I would prefer a historical campaign. Probably Korea vs Sabres and US bombers. Cheers,

DCS: F-86F Official Interactive Training Missions
scotth6 replied to derelor's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
I just found these. Thanks. I have figured out most of it from tutorials on the net, forums, and just flying missions, but I haven't tried any ground attack yet. Love the F-86. A fantastic module. Cheers, -
Sudden blackouts, blurred vision and ear ringing
scotth6 replied to xaoslaad's topic in DCS: MiG-15bis
I always get this. Not usually a blackout as such, but flying relatively straight the sound will be drowned out and a ringing will start. I have noticed a couple of times that I have been hit by enemy fire around the same time, but I'm not sure if that is the cause. I've also noticed that quite often my speed indication will stop working around the same time, which makes me think I have been hit. I would love to know what causes this. Cheers, -
As above, if it's after you landed then the damage would be modelled correctly - ie hard landing. Cheers,
-
I have noticed this when flying the Sabre against the Mig-15 for a while. It is definitely harder to down a Mig with a Sabre than vice versa. I figured it was just the .50 cal (like mosquito bites compared to the Mig's arsenal) and also the impact point of the rounds. It is a totally different story when flying the Mig against the Sabre (as is to be expected with 20mm and 37mm cannons). I couldn't say if it's realistic or not the way it is, but the impact points of the rounds will make a difference if the damage model is correct. I've been hit many times by AI Sabres and kept flying, usually with a few holes in the wings and cockpit, and often losing fuel or hydraulic fluid. I have had to land a few times wheels up due to damage. If you concentrate fire around one critical point when flying the Sabre against the Mig, you will down it quicker than if you are less accurate. Cheers,

I definitely would not want any dumbed down models, as the in depth modelling, systems and flight dynamics simulation is the reason I use and enjoy DCS so much. IMHO there is no point releasing a "half baked" aircraft in to DCS World as this would just be going backwards and against the trend of DCS' evolution.

With the aim of DCS in the past up to now being in depth simulations I would think it has to be quality over quantity. Personally I don't have time to learn the systems, tactics etc of many more aircraft than I already have. Not to say that I wouldn't buy another aircraft, because if it was an aircraft that I was interested in I definitely would, but I also already have enough in my hangar to keep me busy for years. At the moment I am just concentrating on the A-10C, and have been for a month or two, and I am still in the early campaign missions and still learning the systems. To keep it interesting I will occasionally jump in the F-86, the Mig-15 or the Mirage for a quick mission, although I still have so much to learn about these aircraft also. Not to mention the Mig-21, which I was so excited about, but haven't even started yet  Cheers,

I don't mean to shoot you down (pun intended :D), but Rise of Flight already does a pretty good job simulating WW1 aerial warfare. Cheers,

Absolutely, I would love to see the TU-22M also. I saw some spectacular photos of the TU-22M3 recently. What a beast of a plane. http://www.jetphotos.net/photo/8080006 http://www.jetphotos.net/photo/8045476 http://www.jetphotos.net/photo/7975438 http://www.jetphotos.net/photo/7880326 http://www.jetphotos.net/photo/7683498 http://www.jetphotos.net/photo/7226881 Cheers,

I agree with you too ReconXPanzer. There seem to be a lot of bugs. I just had a CTD during a campaign mission last night, although that was the first one I've had in game. Usually I get CTDs when exiting DCS World, which is more an annoyance than anything else. The_Pharoah, I would really like to see an F-111. It's one of my all time favourite aircraft. I have about four different versions of it in FSX, and that's not counting all the freeware models. I suppose the reason I suggested the B1-B and not the F-111 is because I think the B1-B would really suit the Nevada terrain. I'm sure there would be B1-Bs flying around there all the time. That being said, the beauty of simulators is that you fly what you want when you want, so an F-111 would be awesome. Maybe I need to start another thread. ;) Back to the B1-B, that is an awesome weapons load. Our PCs might struggle :D Cheers,
-
I think a B-1B would be awesome for DCS World. Cheers,
-
I haven't had one for a few days, but I just had another CTD on exit. It seems to be any time I do anything more than 1 mission. Tonight I just did 2 A-10C training missions in a row and got the CTD. Just about every other time over the past week I have played just one mission and exited the program with no CTD. I will attach my updated logs zip file. After owning the boxed version of A-10C for years and only recently getting the chance to install it, I am now going through the learning process for the A-10C; and it is going to be a challenge. I just finished the Navigation training, and I am going to have to go back and redo the navigation training and start up training probably several times. I also just setup my HOTAS Warthog and rudder pedals which have been sitting in a box for six months, and I have to say it has put a whole new spin on flying in DCS World and FSX and P3D. I used to spend most of my time in FSX, even getting in to scenery design, which took up a lot of free time, but now I am making time for DCS World and really enjoying it. I bought quite a few of the modules during sales last year along with the Mirage recently, and I am enjoying every aircraft immensely. It's really great flying aircraft with such in depth systems, awesome sounds (Mig-15 cannon - whoa) and incredible flight dynamics. In regard to the OP's question, I have only tried the A-10C and not the P-51, but I am enjoying every step of the learning curve of the A-10C, so would highly recommend it. There is plenty to learn. Cheers,

Update. I just had another crash. This time I was online, and DCS World Updater updated on startup again. I played a free flight mission in the Mirage and that was ok. I was also editing controls as I just installed a HOTAS warthog and Saitek rudder pedals today, so I was making a start on configuring controls for these. Only edited a few controls for Mirage 2000 and A-10C. I was just getting towards the end of the A-10C tutorial 1, the overview, and I got the same error message as above and DCS World crashed to desktop. This time the faulting module was "FMBase.dll, version: 1.5.2.48726" I will attach the current logs folder as well as a copy of the Windows error log text. Cheers, Logs.zip DCSWorld_CTD_160116.txt

Last night I played a mission with the Mirage, but this time I made sure I was online, because the ctds seemed to be when I played offline (the last few anyway). When I ran DCS World 1.5, the updater updated itself, although I don't think any changes were made to the program itself. This time there was no ctd when I exited. Could the problem be related to playing missions when offline, or even something to do with creating or editing profiles when offline?
