Yeah agreed. The training missions give you a good understanding of the aircraft. Be sure to read this thread about the brakes and braking chute: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=171946 It is a handful to land (or to stop once you've landed) but an awesome jet and great fun to fly. Cheers,

As noted, the brakes seem to be both very weak and sensitive to skidding. I need some practice. You definitely need to bind a handy switch to the chute deployment. Up until last night I was using the handle in the cockpit, and it is not very practical when trying to keep the jet straight doing 150 knots. This isn't a complaint about the flight model, as I'm sure it's modelled quite accurately. No one ever said landing an F-5 was easy. Although I did read once that the T-38 and F-5 were great for student pilots due to their tame handling. I guess it's a matter of perspective. Here are some of my most recent attempts. Don't laugh too hard :D Cheers,

Hi, I am having a bit of trouble with this mission. As noted in another thread, the AWACS does not take off, so there is no assistance in locating the target. That is my problem, I cannot for the life of me locate the Predator. I have flown the mission four times. Twice I saw nothing at all and failed the mission with the message "The target has crossed the border: Mission failed" or something similar. The two other times I have been attacked by Turkish F-5Es while searching in the search area. I managed to hit one of them once, but I have been jumped and shot down by them twice. Can someone who has completed this mission give me a tip, maybe just the Predator's altitude would help. I have not seen any sign of the Predator once; on radar, EO, or visual. Cheers,

Mission 11 - AWACS never takes off?
scotth6 replied to redterror's topic in Su-27 The Ultimate Argument Campaign
Hey. AWACS isn't taking off for me either. I just figured there was no AWACS and no wingman to make it more of a challenge. And it is. I have only flown it once, but so far it was a fail with no sight of anything anywhere. Cheers, -
A-10C Georgian hammer campaign issues
scotth6 replied to scotth6's topic in User Created Missions General
The updated mission works perfectly, so I can now get past that mission and have continued on with the campaign. Had a few mishaps with Push 6-1 also, but that was mission related as I kept getting shot out of the sky by SAMs or Mig 29s. Just as an update about what I was mentioning with the score, I do actually think the scoring system is missing in some missions, or may be a bit buggy throughout the campaign. There are two separate "scores". One is the "Result", which is usually either 0, 50 or 100 depending on the success of the mission. There is also another "score" which is based on the number of units destroyed and probably other factors too. It has been 0 all the way through the campaign every time I have gone through it again since completing it. Today I finished the mission Push 8-1 and received a score of 102, alongside a result of 100 for completing the mission. It seems to me that maybe no score is awarded for any mission you have completed in the past, as I hadn't flown the Push 8-1 mission before. Cheers, -
A-10C Georgian hammer campaign issues
scotth6 replied to scotth6's topic in User Created Missions General
Hi Ian, Thanks heaps for the reply and for the fix. Cheers, Scott -
Thanks for the replies. There must be some other problem though, apart from older version incompatibility, because I only saved the profiles the day before loading them. I also go through and clean out all the duplicates first, and then assign axis and key/button commands on my HOTAS and rudder. So I had done this and had all my commands set up and obviously working the way I wanted, and then I saved the profile. The next day I loaded the profile I had saved the day before and all the HOTAS commands I had set up were duplicated across joystick, throttle and rudder. I'm not sure if it's something I am doing wrong, but saving and loading profiles does not seem to work for me at all.

Hi, I added to another thread regarding a problem I have had since I started using DCS World, and that is saved and loaded control profiles, and also the default control settings for any new aircraft. It seems that thread may have been unrelated, so I am starting another thread with the problems I am encountering. I have an issue where whenever I start using an aircraft, the controls are duplicated across my HOTAS joystick and throttle and also my saitek rudder pedals. This means, for example, that pressing on the left rudder will also move my stick to the left, etc and many controls won't work, and are even unable to be changed in the control settings until all the duplicate entries have been removed. So every time I map keys for an aircraft I need to delete everything but the keyboard and mouse commands and start from scratch with my HOTAS and rudder inputs. Needless to say this is very time consuming., although I suppose the benefit is that you can map things as realistically as possible according to the real world aircraft layout. However, I have just now found that even loading a saved profile has the same issue. I had my inputs all worked out for the SU-27 when starting the Ultimate Argument campaign, and just because I started using VR I changed just two commands, changing the joystick hat switch from look up and look down to trim up and down commands for VR. I had these two profiles saved, yet when I just reverted using a monitor and loaded the profile for that, which I only saved yesterday, all the HOTAS and rudder commands have once again been duplicated. Here is a screenshot to show what I am talking about. It seems that in this case, after loading a saved profile, the rudder throttle inputs have been duplicated by the rudder for some reason. Usually when starting new with an aircraft, the commands are duplicated across all three devices. Actually, here are the triplicate controls after loading the profile a second time in the controls menu. I had the joystick column highlighted when I loaded the profile, so maybe this has something to do with why the joystick controls are now replicating the rudder and throttle inputs. Cheers,

Hi, I really love the A-10C and the Georgian Hammer campaign, and in fact it is what I spend most of my time on in DCS World. It is what I have used, along with the training missions, to pretty much learn how to fly and fight in the Warthog I have successfully completed the campaign once before, and before this everything seemed to work OK. Since completing it a few issues are consistent each time I use the campaign. 1/ No score is recorded. AA and AA kills are recorded, but the actual score is always 0. Not a big deal for me as I never really paid attention to what they were, but it seems odd for it to suddenly not work anymore. 2/ Mission that has the two armour platoons (Razor and Blade) advance to Iowa, and then just Blade advance to Arizona - Blade always starts advancing and then gets stuck at the same location. This has happened three times on the same mission and they always get stuck at the same location. Obviously the mission is incomplete, so the mission only gets a completion rate of 50. There are no enemy units left anywhere near them or their target location, yet they just stop and refuse to move any further. I have left the mission running for about half an hour or more after landing to see if they would eventually move, but they don't. I have taken some screen shots of where they stop. Cheers,

Input Devices Re-Initialisation
scotth6 replied to Dutch Baron's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
OK, Thanks. I might start a new thread regarding my issue. There seems to be no point in being able to save profiles if when you load a profile it is all messed up again. Cheers, -

Input Devices Re-Initialisation
scotth6 replied to Dutch Baron's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
I was about to post a new topic, or at least search for one relating to HOTAS Warthog controllers, specifically in game profiles. I have an issue where whenever I start using an aircraft, the controls are duplicated across my HOTAS joystick and throttle and also my saitek rudder pedals. This means, for example, that pressing on the left rudder will also move my stick to the left, etc and many controls won't work, and are even unable to be changed in the control settings until allthe duplicate entries have been removed. I had these two profiles saved, yet when I just reverted using a monitor and loaded the profile for that, which I only saved yesterday, all the HOTAS and rudder commands have once again been duplicated. This is so annoying. Is there a fix for this I don't know about, or is to do with this bug? If people are reporting strange behaviours it could be that there ore conflicts and duplications in their controller profiles also, so moving the stick might open the canopy, or pressing on the rudder might switch something off. Now to go and map my SU-27 controls.....again! Cheers, -
I'll say yes. I really want to give it a go, so I might take Dino Might's advice and download Teamspeak. Now just to decide if I'm going to get up early Sunday morning or stay up late Saturday night :D. If I'm working it out correctly the time allocated is 6am Sunday for me in Melbourne, Australia. So I will do my best to be there. Cheers,

M2000C Kollsman window adjust knob affects Atitude Indicator
scotth6 posted a topic in Resolved Bugs
Hi, Using the M2000C in the Intercept Phantoms mission tonight in DCS 1.5 release version after being updated today (20/08/16). I just discovered tonight that using the rotational adjustment knob for the Kollsman Window on the altimeter affects the standby attitude indicator beside it. I was using the mouse wheel to rotate the Kollsman Window adjust knob, and each time it moved one digit, the standby attitude indicator knob would move up or down, caging and uncaging it, and moving the red flag in and out of the window. Cheers, -
For the sake of statistical information, I also noticed the TDC cursor moves much too fast and there is no adjustment that improves it in the axis tuning. I am also using the mouse on the HOTAS Warthog throttle. Cheers,

Looks awesome. I was up for it but I'm not on Teamspeak yet and don't have head phones with mic. Good luck with it and hopefully the multiplayer missions keep coming. Only multiplayer flying I have ever done is with Eve Valkyrie on the Rift, and that's cool so looking to get in to it more with sims I fly, being DCS and Rise of Flight. Cheers,

Well I have Saitek combat rudder pedals with toe brakes and I am still skidding all over the place. Not saying there's anything wrong here, I obviously just need some more practice ;).

+1 I am loving this sports car of the sky.

Hi, First off thanks for the F-5, it is an awesome rendition of an awesome aircraft. I have just noticed something while flying the F-5 around Vegas for the first time. I actually haven't flown in V2 alpha for a while, and haven't noticed this before. When getting takeoff clearance or inbound info from ATC they give me a QFE setting for the altimeter. I often get the info from ATC in DCS 1.5 also, but I can't recall if they give QFE or QNH (I have just done some reading so I don't mix the two up - QFE to set an airport elevation as zero and QNH for altitude above sea level). As far as I've read previously the UK uses QFE but the US does not. I'm not sure if it is a DCS World issue or an F-5 issue. Actually I suppose there are two issues. First one I assume would be a DCS World issue; which is ATC giving QFE settings instead of QNH. The second issue is that regardless of the setting I receive from ATC, the minimum setting in the Kollsman window in the F-5E is 28.10. In two missions in Vegas I was given QFE settings of 27.87 and 27.70. Not a big deal of course, just thought I would report what I found. I am loving flying the F-5E! Cheers,

Thanks Socket7, I'm glad someones on the ball ;). I'm certainly not. I forgot I had used DSR the last time I used 1.5 beta, and I only used it for a short time, and then I must have been using the release version only since changing the resolution. Thanks heaps for the quick reply. Cheers, Scott
