  1. I hate to admit it, but I have read many guides, seen zillion of YT videos, forum threads and whatnot, but so far, I'm still not sure how to properly switch to OpenXR. I am saturated with too many infomations, and I suppose half of them are deprecated. DCS is running on Steam, and I am running DCS through OculusVR and VRPerfkit with pretty good result. But I'm willing to take the plunge into the latest stable MT release and OpenXR. FWIW my specs are: Quest 2, 5800X-3D , 32GB, M2, 3080ti I have a few basic questions for you guys : 1- What is the bare minimum I need to download to install OpenXR ? - OpenXR toolkit ? - OpenXR dev tools ? - OpenXR Tools for Windows Mixed Reality App - OpenXR composite ? - None of the above ? - It's already there stupid ! 2 - I keep hearing about the different options you (might) need to tweak under OpenXR. - Reprojection /ASW - Turbo mode - CAS - foveated rendering - FSR Where do I find these options : - OTT/ODT ? - Oculus software ? - OpenXR toolkit ? - None of the above 3 - How do I make sure OpenXR is properly installed ? Right now I'm not even sure I have it installed or not. Oculus software is suggesting it's the active OpenXR runtime, but it's greyed out and I can't set it otherwise. 4 - Do I still need to run ODT or OTT every now and then ? Can I forget these for good ? 5 - I have upgraded to the latest stable release, but I can't see any option to launch the MT exe with the steam launcher. Why ? Do I need to manualy create a shortcut from the MT binaries folder and tweak it with --force_enable_VR --force_enable_OpenXR ? Sorry for beeing such a dumbass, and thank you for taking the time to sort the mess in my head
  2. I know the sense of speed is FOV related, as in real life, but we do have a huge scale issue with the trees. Trees are way too big, so we wrongly estimate the size of all other things. The sense of speed is really impacted at low altitude. I always turn the road traffic on. It gives a proper scale and brings back the sense of speed as soon as I fly over cars.
  3. Hi, I have a color banding issue on the night skies. As if the color depth were coded in 8 or 16bits. Is this a known bug with a solution ? FWIW I have a 3080TI , and a cable-linked Quest 2. ODT is set to force encoding at 500Mbps, so I suppose it's not a video compression issue. Any settings I could have missed ? Thx.
  4. I have a Quest 2 and use VRperfkit, with good results it's way easier to install ( only 2 files to drop in your DCS folder) and you get (supposedly) similar perf boost. https://github.com/fholger/vrperfkit
  5. This is more or less what I did on the existing Monstertech stick mount, I have used a 600mm 8040 profile for the main part, one 200mm to attach the stick plate on the lower part, and a 100mm for the upper part that is sitting on the desk. You will also need some plastic caps to clean the edges, some M5 bolts, and eight 90° connectors. Ordered every parts on Amazon. https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00SWOEQ6U/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B0B9G8YW7L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B09F9HJY1M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B08M5MMD7C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 you can also order the clamp here https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B0051YM8DC/?coliid=I1H1J57ZIKL867&colid=L9ST7S98M8L7&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
  6. I think 8040 aluminum profile is a safer bet. I have a VR setup which tends to become really heavy with warthog hotas and all the latest Winwing panels and stuff. My hotas mount is a made by Monstertech, https://www.monster.tech/en/product/joystick-hotas-table-mount/ I had to modify it in order to support Winwing stuff and I'm really glad they used 8040 in the first place. See the result here : https://imgur.com/a/7oN0Sim
  7. update : no more Tomcats, and no more crash, Liberation is now rock solid.
  8. I'm happy to report more than 2 hours straight, with my wingman, on a single local liberation MP mission. This includes two successful returns to the super carrier deck for both of us. No Tomcats=no issue. Too bad 'cos I love having those big birds around, hopefuly, Heatblur and DCS devs are working on a solution.
  9. Hi, I think you should read this thread :
  10. oh well... I think the answer might be here : https://forum.dcs.world/topic/299954-game-freezingnot-responding/page/1/ next step : restart the campaign and get rid of the AI F14, too bad
  11. I'm glad I've found this topic. Like almost everyone else here, I've got the usual freeze when flying back in the bubble of the supercarrier at the end of the mission. I'm running Liberation MP with a dedicated server on a separate PC. I also fly Liberation with a virtual squadron and this crash has never happened once. I could not figure out why until today... we simply don't have F14 around. The next step is pretty obvious, restart the campaign without the fourteens
  12. Another VR freeze after 45mn into the mission . I'm affraid the shiny new pagefile didn't help long. Nothing fancy in the log, some audio error, but I don't think it's related. I'm running short on ideas dcs.log
  13. You might also try Through the Inferno, which s a cool PVE sandbox with real time automated missions spawn. There is one for every theater. There is an online MP server, but the SP sandbox is available and it can be easily modified for private MP hosting. https://throughtheinferno.com/
  14. Don't you ever sleep Flappie ? I've just had my first flight without freezing since a long time. It might a bit soon for a victory claim but this is a real progress. I believe I'm not the first one to solve an issue by setting a fixed size page file. Not so sure why I would need it with 32gb, but DCS & Windows do have a lot of mysteries. I will let you know if this crash is back or gone for good but I need some further testing. Again Flappie, thank you for your help, insight and availability, you really are a (strong and helpful) pillar of this community.
  15. Thank you for your help Flappie The last zip file is from june 2021, I believe it won't help you much since there was many hardware changes in between. FWIW, here is my last log, again, there was the expected crash (DCS is not responding) tonight after playing almost 1 hour on liberation. Since the crash always happens at some point or another, It could be memory related (or lack thereof). Since I have 32GB, the next usual suspect would be the pagefile. It's managed by windows, but I will be trying for a while a fixed 32go size on my DCS drive which is an NVME. I will let you know if it helps. Do you have some more ideas ? Could this issue somehow be induced by Liberation ? Vrperfkit ? dcs.log
  16. Hi, It seems I 'm always crashing DCS (freeze) toward the end of my MP mission, it happens after 30 - 40mn or so. I haven't noticed any unusual temperature raise, or memory clogging. The only mod I have is VRperfkit 3.0. I'm running my own MP liberation missions on a separate dedicated PC on my local network. Specs are : ryzen7 5800x3D, 32GB, 3080ti, Quest2, no overclocking, and SSD drive. I'm playing VR on stable release, using Steam launcher with OculusVR api. So far, I have : updated to the latest nvidia drivers, rebuilt fxo& metashaders, checked files integrity, run out of ideas ! Could someone make sense of my log and give me some advice ? dcs.log
  17. How comes , when cycling tracks, friendly aircrafts are designated in the first place ?
  18. bump ! Still wondering if ED has figured out what's wrong with this map.
  19. Ah yes I haven't tried to kill the TACVIEW recording. This might help. Thank you for this piece of advice. FWIW, once out of the hangar, and rolling things are improving. Not very smooth but far from the hangar performance which apparently is a FPS pit. There is something wrong in the Syrian Hangar. Not your fault obviously. I can still auto start my plane, take off the VR goggles, go back a few minutes later and get the f#### out of this hangar. I can live with it, but I suggest you consider modifying your mission start. in VR it's definitely a mood killer.
  20. hi Chiling, thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question. I have spent quite some time tweaking my settings in order to achieve a decent and stable framerate for my VR in most case. There is nothing fancy on this side, textures are set to low , pixel density @1.0, VRperfkit and so on. I'm always trading eye candy for faster performance. And I believe my settings are quite modest so I always have some headroom for frame rate whatever scenario I'm throwing at it. I think I will try an auto start sequence so I won't puke before my plane is able to exit the hangar. I will let you know how it's going while taxiing, and flying. Looking forward to playing your campaign. Cheers
  21. Hi Chiling ! I have recently bought your campaign, but the very start of the mission is unplayable under VR. The frame rate is around 10 FPS under the hangar, and I can't start my plane without being really nauseous. A cold start at 10 FPS is beyond my strenght. So I'm stuck at the beginning of mission one and a bit disapointed to be honest. This mission start makes a really poor first impression. Which I believe is largely undeserved, since the attention to details of all the included reading materials is stunning ! FWIW I have a Ryzen 3600, RTX3060TI, 32GB and Quest 2, M2/SSD. It's a decent system in my view. Not terrific but that should handle a campaign. If the hangar is notoriously bugged, could you modify the mission start so we can quickly get the hell out of this FPS trap ?
  22. Any news or educated guess on an hyptothetical 5600X3D ? I believe this is the CPU we are all expecting.
  23. I used to play VR with a Quest 2 and a 1070. There was a lots of tradoffs to be made, but it was playable IMO.
  24. Thank you for the tip, I'm trying your settings right now (my specs : 3060TI, Ryzen5 3600, 32GB) It really seems to smooth things out, Mariana is still stuttering at low altitudes. Now I have yet to see if the unexpectied stuttering on carrier is still here,
  25. Thank you so much for your work ! Your kneeboard suite is my travel companion while commuting in the real world. I'm not wasting my time anymore in the parisian subway.
