I have never suceeded using LST with F18's ATFLIR too. I'm flying mainly Through the Inferno, where all the JTAC 9 lines stuff are automated. Laser code is defaulted to 1688 both LST and LTDR. I can't get my ATLIR locking the target using LST, even when flying straight at it. Maybe I'm doing something wrong though. Can anyone report some success buddy lasing and locking ATFLIR using LST ?

Pilot body in VR - most underestimated feature in VR or useless?
pixie replied to Rosebud47's topic in Virtual Reality
The VR pilot body, or lack thereof, is a very subjective issue and an interesting one. It all depends on how your particular brain work and how VR tricks your brain to make you actually feel in the pit. I belong to the group which definitely needs a VR body to project oneself into. But I perfectly understand someone who couldn't care less. There is no need to argue with the "other group". That's how your brain is rigged. End of story. Somehow, there is one useful aspect I have discovered using F18 virtual body under VR : It helps you immensely to set the correct IPD, and therefore the sense of scale in the cockpit. I simply tweak the IPD setting and look down at my legs. If I feel childish or like a giant, the IPD value is obviously wrong. I change the IPD value until I sense my body has the "right" proportions and feeling. Once IPD is set, you can hide the pilot body for good if you're not confortable with it. BTW, the IPD setting is not really an Inter Pupillary Distance, but rather a scale slider for close proximity objects. It really defines how you feel in your VR pit. -
I have switched terrain texture to low, and so far so good, no more stuttering with the Quest 2 VR. It really seems to ease up on the GPU memory. Thx for the tip. And btw, if I don't compare side by side high and low terrain texture, I very much doubt i can tell the difference

I have difficulties convincing myself to switch to low terrain texture. I guess I should try.

February bump ! ED could at least give us a straight answer on this subject, a simple yes-no would be a start.

Pilot body in VR - most underestimated feature in VR or useless?
pixie replied to Rosebud47's topic in Virtual Reality
Bump !!! This is Feb 2022, and still no pilots for the Mighty Tomcat, the Viper and the Hog... I'm not even close to leave the Hornet pit !!! -
Despite the cloud issue, and the VR memory leaks that plagues my Quest 2 sessions, DCS is still a dream come true for me. I know dev are working on this new engine, and VR is not an option in the foreseeable future. This is all I need to know.

Thank you for your input, I believe all we can do ATM is waiting for a new graphic engine. It seems unlikely at this point ED is working on improving things for their old engine. Hope I'm wrong though.

Reshade 6.0 gets native support for OpenXr
pixie replied to speed-of-heat's topic in Virtual Reality
Does anyone knows if Reshade 5.0 is functionning with a Quest 2 and Oculus VR ? I prefer launching DCS under oculus VR rather than steam VR. I find the VR settings more straighrforward. But I could be convinced otherwise. -

Launch Bar functon Extend<>Retract should be reversed?
pixie replied to Razor18's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I have exactly the same question. and was searching the forum a few days ago. Did not find any answer I also have a TM warthog hotas, and when binding the launch bar to a switch the up and down is somehow reversed which is annoying I have a similar bind for the arresting hook and this one is fine. The latest Open Beta changelog mentions a new keybind for the launch bar, I hope this will help, but since I'm running stable I can't tell yet. -
Totally agree, I'm not sure it has any added value if you're not an F18 jockey. Maybe if you're under VR, the writings on the case make less sense and you can program it the way you need to.

I've been looking for a box full of switches with a few encoders as a generic panel for flying VR. I haven't found such a product yet. If, like me, you're into the F/A-18c, winwing has some nice dedicated control panels https://wwsimstore.com/

This DeltaSim mod is a fantastic addition to the Warthog. You won't regret it

From my experience, if your server hosting the game and your gamins PC are on the same LAN, they share the same public IP, and for some reason the Gaming PC cannot see the server in the MP interface. It's not a big problem since you can always connect to the server using its local IP address. If you really want to see (or check) the server in the MP list, you can always use a VPN on the gaming PC to use a fake public IP. This should work but at the price of performance because tunneling means encrypted traffic. And honestly there is no point going out of your LAN through a VPN in order to get back to your LAN and finally to your server.

IIRC Massoud and the afghan resistance were backed by CIA who shipped them weapons. So definitely not an open conflict between US and Soviet Union, but a conflict nonetheless

At this moment, which one gives the best FPS between low and flat shadows on terrain ? I think there was an issue recently with flat rendering. Was it resolved with the latest patch ?

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
pixie replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
thank you very much for your help Taz, I can assure you the terrain is overblown while the cockpit is fine, I have no idea why, but I have had this issue for a while. This setting should be perfect -
VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
pixie replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Sorry to jump on this thread and ask some obvious questions for many of you. I exclusively play VR on a Quest 2, with the latest stable version. 2.7.9 if I recall correctly. I would of course benefit from a few more FPS, but my main issue is the terrain, which is way too bright while my cockpit is too dark. Changing the gamma slider doesn't resolve the issue since I must choose between terrain and cockpit readability. Could a shader mod prove beneficial for my issue ? Can you pinpoint me to the correct package to DL ? Thank you all for your help -
Sorry to resurrect this old issue, but I was wondering if any progress or improvements have been made on the clouds front ? The subject has not been raised for a while, and it seems a bit strange to me. Maybe I'm missing something At the moment the clouds rendering in VR is still messy for me, there is absolutely no contrast, and it's overall painful to look at. FWIW I have a Quest 2 and an RTX 3060TI. Can someone with a similar equipment achieve better results ?

The default ingame profile is not bad for the warthog. it's defintely a good start to fine tune your own profile I would recommend to stick as close as possible to the real F18 hotas as described in Chuck's F18 guide (which is soon to be your bible) Got get it here, this guide is a fantastic tool, way better than the original user guide.. https://www.mudspike.com/chucks-guides-dcs-f-a-18c-hornet/ BTW I have a warthog too, and found no need to install the Target software , I might be wrong on this, but keep in mind it's not mandatory

Aaaaaah ! No more Ford, Chevy, etc... A small one, but truly a game changer

fixed Performance (FPS) loss from 2.7.6 to 2.7.7
pixie replied to Limaro's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Was it the "water surface rendering fix" mentionned in the last changelog ? Something else related to shadows drawing ?
