  1. Yes I've seen those videos as well and they steer around like a boss. In this sim once that rear wheel is unlocked you have to be going straight for a couple of yards to be able to lock it again. Without toe brakes on my system I need to grow another arm to control brakes stick and throttle so you probably have a better feel for it than I do.
  2. It's tough without pedals and toe brakes. Just out of curiosity are you aware you can apply Left and Right Wheel brakes independently ? Left Ctrl W is left wheel brake and Left Alt Key + W is right wheel brake. Otherwise it sounds like you have the basics down. I often end up doing donuts on the runway. I often just leave the rear wheel locked to 6 degrees and apply left and right wheel brakes under speed to turn more sharply. I don't have rudder pedals in my system. :(
  3. Yes I've also had the engine seize in the air. Pretty much every time was during an aborted landing where throttle was applied quickly and in all probability the prop pitch was low trying to slow down coming in. Soooo I guess i'd be interested in what the authors of the sim expect the actual conditions to be that will cause the engine to seize sans overheating. And yes I love this sim as well.. :)
  4. If you look at the Original track I posted the engine seized after two take off and landings and while taxing in parking area. It was suggested that the cause was Over revving the engine with prop pitch low. This is an extreme duplication of those conditions. Over revving with Low Prop pitch. The engine does not seize and conditions are much more severe than the original engine seize in the (Engine Seizes while taxing) track. That's what I'm trying to show.
  5. Thanks for the Reply Rotareneg. You gave me an idea for a test. I have attached the track . Have a look let me know what you think. (PS: I know how to operate the radio its included in the track) ThrottleTest To Seize Engine.trk
  6. The attached track shows 2 take offs and landings during Practice The sequence of events is as follows P51 take Off and Landing. Then taxi to parking. Shutdown. Startup. Taxi to Runway Take off and Landing. Taxi to Parking Area. Engine Rev and Seize while attempting to park. You can fast forward to the last landing to see this. I think the track length is about 1360 seconds (Random failures definitely off in options.) Engine Seize On Taxi.trk
  7. Well I think what you are seeing here is a result of trying Multithreading to attempt to use multicores. This is the holy grail everyone keeps asking for. Use of multicores for DCS World. This brings its own set of problems with synchronization and waiting on threads to complete before calling them again. Gets tricky. I know because I have written such applications and when timing was off apps would crash. Regardless of how many threads or cores you use you still have to deal with synchronization. Of course this is just a guess on my part but it would make sense that ED would like to try these things in the field now that updates can easily be applied and reversed. Here is some links describing these things in more detail. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11235279/debugging-rtluserthreadstart-in-process-explorer http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1103938/multithreaded-application-in-a-multicore-processor
  8. So I saw this video and see it seems much easier to hover a real helicopter near the ground than in TOH . (Have a look) Read the comments in the following video. The author claims he has to make many adjustments to master this bird and another complains his stick isn't adequate. So now we have real life helicopter pilots on this thread would maybe be interested in spending a little time to tweak the flight model variables in the game to give us non pilots a more realistic experience ? Just curious. It seems everything required is there but the experience isn't correct. Of course don't waste too much time on this.
  9. You Need to get out and Kick it.....
  10. What He said ^^^^^
  11. Was the opposite for me Gunner. Have ya rebooted yet ? That worked for me one day when I thought the FPS went down after a patch. Also what vid card ya got brother ? If you got ATI card try turning off TSSAA and MSAA. Also Gunner what version does your World say ? (Bottom Right Corner Main Screen)
  12. Speck are you running the Update DCS World Option from the Windows Start Menu\ All Programs \ Eagle Dynamics \ DCS World \ ???
  13. This 6192 update Kicks A$$. FPS Rocks. Have a great weekend Devs.
  14. Can't really argue with you. That would be pretty awsome indeed. Although in IRL by the time smoke comes out not much chance the engine survived unscathed. (Or as we used to say If you can get the smoke back in she'll probably be OK again ) It did take me by surprise the 1st time the engine seized after the new patch haha. I did have to look at the Summary after the mission to see what happened.
  15. It's working great for me cOff. Have not had any problems with it at all. Not one. Well done. It certainly opens up so many more possibilities for the developers and users and takes off that huge pressure of certifying a 5GB updates to bring fixes to us. I think it's fantastic and will only make this product greater than it already is.
  16. Rebooted the Computer. Frames rates back to normal. I do get a small slide show for a couple of secs at the mission start then it's all good. Certainly good enough for me at this stage. I'm Using P-51 Instant Action Flight over Poti for benchmark. I did have TSSAA off but thanks for the suggestion. I do drop 15 FPS anytime I fire the 50 cals. That's been since 1.2.1 all versions. This is the crap that makes programmers go insane. Anyway thanks ED for your efforts here. I realize you're not making a dime off of these patches. Also thanks to all you fellas trying to help each other here and Mods. On a positive note the P-51 is just a joy to fly now. Take offs and landings so much fun. The engine management stuff is just awsome. I've already seized my engine from running it too hard and burned out the starter once already LOL. Great job guys. With this new patch system things will only get better
  17. Bloody Strange.
  18. I don't even want to say this........ This patch cut my FPS in half from 35 FPS in cockpit to 16 FPS from V 6099 - V6120 I have updated with both today and flown with each Version today. Same settings on both . Deleted User\Saved Games\DCS folder after each patch (Had my input files saved) Seems to be Machine specific. Is increasing some peoples FPS and at the same decreasing others. Are people who are experiencing gains with this patch NVidia Owners and peoples losing FPS ATI owners ? i5 750 @ 3.33GHZ / ATI 5770 / 4GB RAM / Win7 64 Bit.
  19. Ya Eagle it's definitely different from Ka-50 but again the 50 is twinaxial rotor with no torque. I guess it also depends what model you like to fly in TOH. I like the light chopper because it's quick and I can look at the ground. I do fly in expert mode all the time just because it's challenging. Love flying down the highways etc. Of course no sim is going to match the real thing. I find the ground effect in TOH very strange how the heli just takes off when you are close to landing riding around like a hovercraft. Other than that if you read the BiStudio Forums there are quite a few comments from real life heli pilots which vary in pros and cons but generally the sim gets support from these people. I don't care for the larger heli's in TOH it's just not as enjoyable for me. Like I said in previous posts I wanted to play with the single rotor heli and for this price it gives me a rough idea about them. Not perfect but good. Maybe I just got lucky with my stick. A very basic one. I saw one reviewer on youtube who said he changed from his warthog to a simpler stick to play TOH because it was easier for him so idk. But yes Eagle. I understand what you say. I do fight controls but I can master it by flying alot. I hope real helicopter is easier than all sims otherwise I would never land. Haha Thanks for your intelligent comment Eagle.
  20. There is a silver lining though. With the auto updater, tweaks and changes shouldn't be so traumatic for the users and developers. I think it may take some time for the developers to change their own attitude towards updates since in the past every little change had to be packaged into a huge update and made small change implementation non feasible. Now they have that option so let's hope.
  21. DCS world is a Free Program that includes the Su-25 . So it is never activated with a serial number and never has to be Deactivated. Only the Add on planes do. I wish I'd of known about the protect.exe program in the module directories heh. No biggy tho one activation gone. (We are brave and couragous sim pilots) ish
  22. Sad to say FPS drop with 1.2.1 . I actually had better frame rate with 1.2.0 than with 1.1.1.1 so I'm somewhat surprised. Still some tweaks to do yet. But yes less FPS 50's to 30's
  23. Well............ When you hit SHIFT and Start DCS World Multiplayer it will bring up the activation screen for the 1st module you installed. I believe in my case it was A10 C (I Have A10 BS2 and P51). It let me deactivate the A10 module and that was it. (You can see what module you're working with up on the top left of the activation window) So I tried this twice but it only seemed to show the A10 module to deactivate. So I uninstalled 1.2.0 and went ahead and installed 1.2.1 and then the 3 new modules. (A10 BS2 and P51.) It then asked to activate each module after I tried to run a mission in one of them and it left me with 9 activations in the A10 module (which I had deactivated before uninstalling ) but only 8 activations for BS2 and P51. So it looks like I lost 1 activation in the two modules I couldn't deactivate. Did I do something wrong. I don't know but the process isn't so straight forward with modules being inside World as opposed to being separate as they were before DCS world. If you get my drift.
  24. To force activation dialogue to appear hold down Shift button on keyboard and then launch multiplayer game shortcut. There are three choices in the initial dialogue:There are three choices in the initial dialogue: Automatic activation. Manual activation. If there is no Internet Deactivation
