Possible dead H60 pump stos DCS play
Slap_Chop replied to Ratfink's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Rat read a lotta complaints about the H Series coolers from Corsair, Pump failures. I chose a Zalman LQ-310 for this reason. Suggest you ditch this cooler. Sorry Corsair and Rat. We all get burned like this from time to time. -
Not true . No offense intended I just replaced my ATI 5770 with an EVGA. GTX 660 OC edition and doubled my DCS frame rates and detail. 30 FPS to 60 FPS This was after OC ing my i5-750 from 2.67 to 3.7 GHZ and upgrading my RAM from 4GB to 12GB. These two things did not appreciably increase my frame rate. The thing that made the most dramatic difference was replacing the video card. I spent approx $200 US on this card and it's like a new sim to me. Also with these upgrades my 650 W power supply does just fine running Prime Stress and Video Stress tests. I suppose for people with High end Vid cards a More powerful card doesn't make much difference but in my case with a lower end vid card switching to the Higher end video card made all the difference in the world.

I think the following quote best describes the current situation.

So we now have properly different skill levels!

Genius !! +1 for Zoso -
Thank you for the Mustang, what a lovely plane :)

It's very frustrating trying to explain to people who haven't purchased the P-51 that just mastering landing and take off is worth the price of the Sim alone. I was just like you msalama, not sure I'd like this Sim. But part of my daily routine now is taking off and landing this bird. Just feels good to fly. And if you have any nostalgia about WWII birds this just brings you home. -
I have a simple joystick as well. What I did was use modifier keys with my Hat Switch. For example RIGHT CONTROL + Hat Switch UP,DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT is my Trim Up Down Left and Right. LEFT ALT + Hat Switch UP, DOWN , LEFT , RIGHT is assigned to my Slew Functions. Hope you get the idea.

Massive FPS drop when firing rounds =(

Those are very interesting points EtherealN . I would agree Thrive is a rather fluffy treatise of many subjects. If it has any purpose at all it might be to open the minds a wee bit to the great unwashed. I'd call Thrive information on training wheels if you will and I agree some of it is quite silly. I do actually find the evening news a little more entertaining personally. At least from a comedic point of view. I'm interested in your evaluation of the films coverage of our current financial system. Apparently they are claiming that a small group of private Bankers lend sovereign countries their own currency at interest (Which they create out of thin air backed by nothing) and then through taxation retire the interest on the debt never touching the principal only to go through the same process year after year. That's some crazy stuff there that couldn't possibly be true could it ? Is this what that 15 Trillion dollar debt is they keep talking about in the US all the time ? Just hilarious stuff. Also I agree what the bleep was a ridiculous film.

Interesting. I wonder who Muertos is ? Can't seem to find out anything about him on his blog. Also I wonder why I would believe anything he says ? Seems like a strange topic to devote an entire blog to.

A very good primer on the current state of affairs. I applaud you for posting this.

The future of DCS World seems obvious considering the current direction of aviation. Imagine you and your Virtual Air Squadron Controlling Real Life Pilot-less drones either supplied in kit form from ED, or the ability to take over a vast array of already existing drones simply at the click of a mouse button. For example imagine the thrills spills and fun with you and your mates guzzling pints and laughing it up over team speak while you do Drone strikes on unsuspecting non simmers all over the globe ! Why not take this bad boy up for a spin. be the first on your block to own one. (See Below) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18741156 No Need to thank me ED. Glad to share my business insights to further the cause. :)

Correct. But it's really a non issue as all modules and future patches run under DCS World anyway. If they had continued down the path where each module required a 6GB download then 3 modules would have occupied 18GB for eg. Now you download DCS World (approx 6GB) and then add aircraft @ approx 500MB per aircraft.

You MUST install DCS World to be able to Install the P-51. DCS World is FREE and downloadable from the DCS web site. DCS World is FREE and Has 1 Aircraft included. The Russian SU25. You can Install DCS World and make sure its working before you purchase the P-51 After you purchase the P-51 it then installs it into DCS World. You will add any other aircraft you buy the same way. For eg: A-10C or Black Shark Ka50 etc etc.

Honestly I wasn't going to get the P51 but a friend enjoys dogfighting. I'm really glad I purchased it. Just the pure flying aspect of this plane I really enjoy. Take offs landings etc. Engine management that kind of thing. A few of us get together for online dogfights about once a week. It's a different experience than the A10 or Shark but I do enjoy it alot more than I thought I would. There are some quick missions programmed into the game. The Dog fight is a tuff one. Also a ground target strafing mission with rockets and guns . I enjoy those. I made a mission where me and a wingman drop down on 4 AI bad guys. Reminds of me of some of the dogfight videos I've watched on UTube.

Random failure? My guns jammed my engine?
Slap_Chop replied to JozMk.II's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Taking your advice keeping RPM's in the green zone has eliminated engine seizing for me. -
You need to come in with speed and power just as stated above. Having altitude at too low speed = shudder stall and plop onto tarmac then bounce. Fly level down the runway and drop the throttle gradually to touch down. Just before touchdown flare and you're golden. Trying two wheel landings seems to end in disaster for me.

Independent Left and Right Brakes exist for one reason only. To turn the aircraft. A D9 Cat Bulldozer or tank uses the same principal for turning. Since automobiles have a steering wheel you will only find one Brake pedal in modern automobiles. The aircraft should pivot around the locked or dragging wheel and not stop quickly. That just seems like common sense to me. And for the most part in DCS P-51 it does it's job if you have some speed up. The plane pivots towards the dragging wheel.
