  1. I tried all this with no success. This person must be using Pro because the Hyper-V feature is available. I had tried enabling Virtual Machine Platform instead.
  2. This is what I disabled https://www.asus.com/us/support/faq/1043786/
  3. In an attempt to stop these crashes: HYPERVISOR_ERROR bug check value of 0x00020001. I’m going to try disabling Intel(VMX) Virtualization Technology in my BIOS It appears that Virtualization is not enabled by default in Windows 11 Home. Not sure about Pro https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/enable-virtualization-on-windows-c5578302-6e43-4b4b-a449-8ced115f58e1 I’m speculating that having this enabled in the BIOS but not in Windows might be the source of the problem. Having both enabled still results in the crash though. Question: Is this feature used or necessary to run DCS? Looking at a description of what it does: “Virtualization lets your Windows device emulate a different operating system, like Android or Linux. Enabling virtualization gives you access to a larger library of apps to use and install on your device” My guess is no. Especially since it’s not a default feature.
  4. Real life verification and scoring was much more complicated than a game can handle. Unconfirmed kills are certainly realistic, so…
  5. I very much doubt Linux is ever going to take any significant market share from Windows. I’ll bet most people don’t even know what it is. Heck if Linux really wanted to swing for the fences they’d have to advertise. But since it’s open-source who would have anything to gain from promoting it? So I can’t imagine any “I’m a Linux” adds with Justin Long in a penguin suit. But yep you do you
  6. This is one of those circumstance where multiple competing products do not actually benefit the consumer. Like VHS and Betamax. So your prediction in the OP that Linux will see greater and greater market share isn’t considering this reality. Imagine a world where NaturalPoint has to produce three versions of its TrackIR software for no increase in potential customers. Or where customers have to choose between competing OS products which to them are nearly identical but have differing app support. That just adds extra cost and confusion. And in the case of software, a learning curve. Everyone is aware of this which is why companies and customers will gravitate to a single format or system. Every so often this lesson gets forgotten like the HD DVD vs Blu-ray disc war etc. That’s why 95% of gamers are on Windows. And why you don’t see very many games or peripherals that support Linux. So there won’t be a “format war” between Windows and Linux, everyone knows how that would end and the loser in the contest would be the customers. Nvidia producing drivers for two OS only increases their costs, which they pass on to the customer. For graphics cards which are already very expensive.
  7. A limited number of enthusiasts no doubt. How many people would go through such hurtles for no real benefit?
  8. Sure. Like 3% of the market. “Countless” is a stretch How or why would someone do this when in all likelihood whatever software they need to use won’t be available for Linux?
  9. So there are Linux drivers for Nvidia. That doesn’t mean people will migrate en masse away from Windows, there are so many other reasons it’s 95% of the market. And in DCS or flight sims there are too many peripherals that won’t work with it. So why do drivers matter?
  10. Rather a big obstacle. Not likely to be resolved… So if everyone can easily run any Windows game on Linux, why are 95% of them still using Windows? Maybe because they don’t care about any of this.
  11. Likely not because people do other things with their PCs besides gaming. And most of whatever software they need isn’t going to be available for Linux. One of the big uses I have for my PC is doing taxes. Is that software available for Linux? Nope. So forget it. Right. I don’t. The angst over Windows is rather amusing though. 95% of people don’t care and have probably never heard of Linux
  12. So why this thread then? Go convert to Linux and stop worrying about Windows Why aren’t you playing DCS on Linux? Oh yeah cause probably none of you peripherals would work. Kind of a deal breaker…
  13. After all those repairs and tests above, more crashes, this time while just trying to open a mission. I had just run along repair topo. Events251015-2.evtx dcs.log dcs.log-20251015-180615.zip DxDiag.txt Events251015-1.evtx
  14. Because that’s how their customers want them. It’s nothing nefarious. If there was a profit in selling machines with Linux pre-installed they’d do that too. Some will. But you’re still looking at and we still have a Betamax player in the family somewhere
  15. Exactly. Just another nail in the coffin. And why Linux can’t really ever compete with a mainstream OS. Truth is most people have probably never heard of Linux unless they work in IT or something. They don’t care about any of this, they just want to own a PC and they do more with it than just run games. There’s a reason why the split is 95% to 3%
  16. Then why isn’t every game on Linux? Answer: It’s not profitable. And there are also support costs even if the port was totally free. Imagine DCS support dealing with multiple OSs
  17. So far the CPU passes its stress tests, the RAM passes MemTest86, Windows has been repaired, DDU uninstaller run, GPU passes stress tests. When I had that Intel degradation problem before it was very evident in benchmarks and games would crash instantly. That’s not the case here. I was able to run MSFS24 for about 90 min with no trouble. I’ve got support looking at my Blue Screen reports, let’s see what that reveals.
  18. Yes I have the Intel defaults loaded.
  19. Maybe a different problem but the game freezes trying to load a MP mission. On Visualizer Starts Simulation. I ran a DDU prior so it shouldn’t be the graphics driver. dcs.log
  20. Unless the cost of porting to Linux was zero it would never be worthwhile for any dev to spent money to get an extra 2-3% of the market. Simple math. Gamers won’t use Linux because there aren’t enough games and devs won’t use Linux because there aren’t enough customers.
  21. I would say this happens to me perhaps 1 out of 5 times. Not very often.
  22. I’m asking my PC support what that hypervisor crash was Never had any performance trouble from this. I ran a stress test on the GPU which passed. Rolling back the driver earlier didn’t help.
  23. I ran these and they did indeed find some corrupted file and repaired successfully. Was about to consider this solved after running it for almost 2 hours. But then got this quit. dcs.log DxDiag.txt Events251013-1.evtx
  24. Oh yeah that’s all understood. Again I think those instant action missions all start with the bandits head-on.
  25. quit to desktop again DxDiag.txt Events251012-2.evtx dcs.log
