That makes sense to me because AFAIK drawing scenes is done by the CPU and in VR you need to draw two stereoscopically With the system below I’m GPU limited on a 4K monitor at 120Hz.

Actually the stronger your CPU is, the more likely it is that your GPU will be the bottleneck.

I don't think changing ports actually helps, the problem just appears and goes away seemingly at random. Don't know if more of these helps but here are some files. Lowering the polling rate to 125 isn’t a great solution as the mouse is really awkward at that setting dcs.log DxDiag.txt -

No I only have one mouse. It would be hard to test because the problem comes and goes. No other games are affected, just DCS -
Cool idea but it would need improved ATC and animated ground crews. Landing damaged aircraft is my favorite activity in flight sims I think there have been damaged A-10s brought in but in truth modern aircrews IRL would probably eject rather than attempt to land a badly damaged aircraft. Definitely a common thing in WWII though.

I use a piece of rubber shelf liner like this. It sticks them to the carpet with no trouble. Even the very light CH pedals don’t budge at all. I don’t know if this would work for the TPR as they seem rather top heavy. -

The problem is intermittent. It does seem like changing the USB port fixes it but it will eventually occur again. Replugging won’t work when the game is running, it requires a restart. -
I’m not really trying to dis the topic I just find click baity YouTube videos amusing. What the “fix” seems to be doing is just forcing it on but odds are this is probably enabled by default. Maybe as such a niche game DCS doesn’t have a profile for this? JTC is running a benchmark, not an actual game. Anyone try this for real in DCS? And does forcing this on in DCS cause any problems? This game seems fraught with stability problems so my first hunch is to leave things alone.

Just pointing out that this isn’t a “bug” unless you think Nvidia intentionally hides this feature in order to handicap their cards for no good reason. Odds are this is already enabled by default for any game that it’s worth running on. Figures… anyone else actually test this in DCS? My guess is you’d have to be in a GPU limited situation to see a benefit if there is one. And DCS might still enable this by default anyways.

That video was made three years go before DCS adopted multi-threading. So the Vulkan advantages for single CPU systems don’t seem as relevant anymore.

No doubt if you asked 100 average gamers you’d get responses like “I don’t want to read a manual” or “I don’t have a joystick”. That’s not surprising. Not much that can be done about that, DCS isn’t for everyone.

That’s a bit of a stretch. Perhaps social media is disinformation in this regard. DCS is actually not a very demanding game to run. That’s totally false. None of the maps or modules cost this much. I got into DCS for $20 on a Steam Sale. There are sales all the time Nobody needs these just to get started with the game. Any simple controller or joystick will do. Head tracking can actually be done for free. There’s not, but a 14 year-old could teach themselves this stuff. It just requires a certain degree of interest or motivation. Sorry but DCS is not for them, this just isn’t that type of game. Well now you have!

Having worthwhile pre-assigned commands would require some sort assignment Wizzard. That way the game won’t assign rudders or throttles to sticks for players with separate controls. Or assign hat switch view commands to players with head tracking or VR. Truth be told I don’t see why mapping controls is such an obstacle. It’s already quite self-explanatory. And any new system shouldn't mess up assignments for current players. You can do this already with the Save/Load Profile feature. Obviously it will only work for common commands though. Anything like basic Flight Control axes, Flaps, Brakes, Zoom View etc.

Well there must be something they can do because they fixed it previously and it hasn’t always been a problem. Dropping the polling rate to 125 is kinda noticeable so not an ideal solution. Other sims don’t exhibit any trouble with this, it’s a DCS thing.

if you’re still having that problem you might want to report it here. It appears that they believe this is solved, but it’s not.
