  1. Perhaps at some point DCS just goes for streaming all the content vs storing it locally.
  2. The 1:1 profile isn’t right for a game like this where you need to look at your 6:00. I doubt anyone uses that in DCS. I can’t tell what that’s about. It seems like it’s about the HMD not displaying on the side screens in triple setups. I use a single screen and don’t experience this.
  3. That’s because it’s moving with your view which is moving with your head tracking. Not sure how you think that would work differently. The whole purpose of head tracking is to move your view. By definition the HMD will always be where you’re looking.
  4. These things use low-intensity LEDs which are unlikely to cause damage. Plus you aren’t looking directly into it. TrackIR is certainly the best option. Unless you’re in a country with exorbitant prices this is the way to go. I haven’t ever used other devices but from what I read they require too much fiddling. TrackIR works right out of the box. The face or eye tracking devices like Tobii aren’t supported in DCS and need workarounds. No harm in trying these out though if there’s a return policy.
  5. I wouldn’t expect this for free in DCS as it’s a paid subscription model in those other add-ons. But it’s cool.
  6. Crashed trying to open Hornet instant action mission dcs.log-20250810-203357.zip DxDiag.txt
  7. Stuff like BeyondATC is very cool indeed. You’ll notice they are paid add-ons though or even require subscriptions. I don’t think the user base in DCS is sufficient to fund something like this. We can dream though.
  8. If AI is capable of so much why are we still waiting for content here? Hey ChatGPT make us a Dynamic Campaign.
  9. A cautionary tale to be sure. Honestly the Kickstarter video explains the history and reality of making these games today very well. More people should watch that before judging sims today as not having enough content or taking too long to finish. Comparing them to games of the past that were exponentially less expensive to create.
  10. That’s not going to work… or you’d have to keep that pedal held down halfway the whole time. Maybe if DCS had separate right and left rudder axis? It would still be odd but doable.
  11. I did say I thought it was a fine idea. Well sure, when I discovered DCS I didn’t know what it was so of course I’d have read that. That was the A-10C on Steam and I can’t recall how I knew about the manual.
  12. A manual is listed in the features of the modules. Although that seems to be missing on the Steam Store descriptions. It’s also rather obvious a game this complex would have them.
  13. How is that possible?
  14. It’s a fine idea but anyone savvy enough to digest a 600 page manual will be able to find it in the directory
  15. Looks like it’s been updated now. And again it was already possible to get. No new features needed.
  16. Yeah perhaps with a lot of modules and devices it might be worthwhile to use a script or such. But the “hard way” is still just a click cut and paste task on Explorer.
  17. Honestly that just looks way too complicated. It’s much easier to just copy and paste file names.
  18. Well that’s the trouble, not the location. You’re asking for something that already exists, just it’s not being kept current like it should be.
  19. It could hardly be easier Sure. Again really common sense stuff here. If anyone can’t figure out how to navigate a website or that they can use documents on their phone then what chance do they have of understanding the rest of the sim?
  20. Right. I don’t know why there needs to be another spot. Although sometimes I notice these aren’t kept up to date. They should be. From the forums, tap on the image or logo at the top and it will take you to the DCS website. Then pull down the Doc section for the manuals.
  21. To find the new IDs, in your new DCS install go to any aircraft and map a single button for each controller. you'll see files created like this: C:\Users\Yourname\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\Aircraft\joystick CH FIGHTERSTICK USB {2796EE60-F354-11ef-8002-444553540000}.diff Move these files somewhere else, then copy your old files to these locations. Using Explorer just copy and paste the new name onto the old files. If you're using modifiers they are located here: C:\Users\Yourname\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\Aircraft\modifiers.lua Go into the file with Notepad and replace this: local modifiers = { ["JOY_BTN16"] = { ["device"] = "CH PRO THROTTLE USB {2796EE60-F354-11ef-8001-444553540000}", ["key"] = "JOY_BTN16", ["switch"] = false,
  22. Yeah basically all you have to do is, using Explorer, paste the new file name containing the new ID onto your old controls file. Very fast and easy to do.
  23. True but that would require a very high res screen ie Apple “retina” level. Or a very small or far away display. At normal sizes and viewing distances even a 4K screen needs AA to remove jaggies. Most gamers use 1080p and 1440p. Not sure why this requires explaining as it’s all fairly obvious. Suit yourself but to me AA Off looks like hot garbage.
