  1. This is normal as you gain air speed.
  2. Probably known but the flap and air brake motor sounds now seem to be missing. Also, can this thread be stickied?
  3. And of course there are the VORTAC stations which are obviously combined VOR stations and TACAN stations and give both bearing / course and distance. The Nevada dog fight mission makes use of a VORTAC to help you navigate back to base.
  4. This is my understanding for the CC ... NDB: gives bearing information through ADF radio VOR: gives course / bearing information through NAV radio VORTAC: gives course / bearing / DME information through NAV radio set to DME TACAN: gives DME information through NAV radio set to DME
  5. Just a low-priority request but I was wondering if we could have consistency in the way the click-to-rotate buttons behave. In the CC, it seems the radio buttons turn counter-clockwise with a left button click and clockwise with a right button click. But on the weapons arming panel, it's the opposite. And on the EB, the radio buttons turn clockwise with a left button click and counter-clockwise with a right button click. My personal preference would be that all the dials turn counter-clockwise with a left button click and clockwise with a right button click. But I mainly just request consistency. My small brain gets confused.:D
  6. No. It was never meant for that. But really none of the trainers can "properly" land on a carrier. It's a fun bird anyways. I recommend it.
  7. From the news letter ... "We plan to release both the Christen Eagle II and the C-101 into Steam in February 2019."
  8. Great to hear! So, I assume it will be in the next released patch (not today's)?
  9. I have an old joystick so not a lot of buttons on mine. I use the hat as airbrake extend / retract. And I have assigned one of my joystick buttons as a modifier which changes the hat to act as a trim button. Or you could do the reverse. EDIT: Plus the advantage is you can control how much air brake you want. Good for formation flying where you might just want to drop a few knots.
  10. A couple of reasons: First, there is no toggle brake in the real aircraft. Second, the brake toggle causes the aircraft to trim uncontrollably because the air brake system is linked to the trim system.
  11. enjoy the vibrating rudder pedals. :)
  12. Calm down. Valentines is still a ways away.:music_whistling:
  13. There seem to be a few VOR/DME stations in the Persian Gulf map but maybe they're not implemented.
  14. So, do I have this right? In order to have range and bearing information, you have to be tuned into either a TACAN or VOR-DME for range and an NDB for bearing? So the TACAN / VOR-DME would have to be in pretty close proximity to the NDB be useful.
  15. Yup. Glad this little plane is getting the attention it deserves. The Grim Reapers just did a whole tutorial series on it. I know they're a silly bunch but it's good exposure. Hope AvioDev gets a nice bump in sales.
  16. I find it useful during hard manoeuvering when you don't have time to look down at the AoA dial.
  17. Sorry. Ottawa, Canada is the end of the world. A frozen, barren wasteland.:music_whistling:
  18. Nice read, Beach. Thanks for the article. :)
  19. Good to hear. :smilewink:
  20. Makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.
  21. Spanish C-101 to EF-18 training stream campaign would be the cat's meow. :) Thanks for the article. Gonna have a read.
  22. On a related topic, I've been trying to figure out why the air brake causes a pitch up moment. It just seems intuitive to me that a backwards facing force on the air brake would cause a pitch down moment. I must be missing something. Can you give a brief explanation of what forces are acting on the aircraft to make it pitch up? Does the brake drive the air into the bottom of the fuselage causing an upwards force?
  23. Is it possible that your HOTAS binding is also a modifier? Because that would definitely affect your ability to press different keys.
  24. Hi. I'm assuming you have rudder pedals with toe brakes? If you press too hard on the toe brakes, the plane will stop before you get much of a turn. Try just gentle pressure on the toe brakes. Also, use Ctrl-Enter to show the controls pop-up so you can verify that the brakes are actually engaging correctly. Also, you don't want to be travelling too fast while using the brakes to turn.
  25. I don't have this issue. I tried opening the brake in external view and then pressing F1 while holding the brake. It returns to cockpit view and the brake continues to close until I release it. Same with retract.
