+1. This has really turned me off the module because I'm more of a ground pounder.

Just like how they used to kill Me-262s. :)

Can you explain this a bit more when you have a chance? I don't really understand why the all-aspect functionality of the Aim-9M is reliant on the aircraft's systems. I thought it would be totally independent but of course I have no real idea. Thanks much.

Which 3 reds do you have? The heading flag should disappear after the 3 minute compass alignment. The nav flag should disappear once you've tuned into either a VOR or a TACAN.

ok. Gotta counter that with the C-101. :D

I think people mean to say "Thanks for the wake turbulence! A great step forward!"

Is Ripple bombing possible at this state ?
kontiuka replied to fjacobsen's topic in DCS: C-101 AvioJet
Yup, seems to be some difference. Depends totally on speed, dive angle, release altitude. The screen below was done at an IAS of 250 kts, level flight, 3,000 ft. The craters on the far right were done with 70 ms spacing. The ones on the far left with 200 ms spacing. -

I'm going to try it out this weekend and see what the smoke dispersion is like on the ground at different settings. -

Select your BDU-33 stations. Select "RIP" mode instead of "BOMB" mode. Select ripple time. -
Exactly. It's all about the type of experience you want to have. Some people are rotor heads. Some people like the war birds. Some people like the high tech stuff. And weird people like me like being the underdog in a casually-powered (to quote a Mudspike review) trainer jet like the C-101. Sure, you can do pretty much everything in an F-18 that you can in a trainer, but practicing flight fundamentals just seems more "genuine" in a trainer. Something very satisfying to me about properly setting up your NAV radios, setting up your course lines, making sure your HSI is properly aligned and your gyro erected, struggling to keep a set altitude, making sure you don't exceed engine temp. Then there's the combat part. I get a lot more of a thrill when I get a bomb delivery just right through proper speed, dive angle, and sight depression.

It was only meant to work with the BDU-33 Practice Bombs. -

Admittedly, I did not test it very thoroughly. I'll give it another try this weekend. -
The only one I really fly right now is the C-101. But if I was forced, I'd probably have to go with the F-18.

Ripple bombing is only meant for the practice bombs. I'm not sure if that is fully working though. When I last tried it, changing the ripple setting didn't seem to have on impact on how the practice bombs dropped. -
DCS C-101 by AvioDev - Damage model affects now to Flight Model (WIP). For now, you can see: Balance and yaw moments and lift and drag forces, due to the loss of parts of the wings. Engine fire (only EB). - Fix in damage model: Parts that are detached do not appear now duplicated, that is, connected to the airplane body at the same time. - Added pylons damage model. - Fixed N1, N2 and ITT indication with MPR in C-101CC. - Added patch to left arm of pilots (it was missing). - Fixed AGA patches. - Fixed patches of internal model. Thanks for the update, guys! Some good stuff there. MPR now works at the higher altitudes! And I had a lot of fun ripping pieces off my Aviojet yesterday to test the damage model. My tests included putting tanks and B-17s on the runway and trying to clip pieces off my wings and tail at 60 kts and then trying to take off with the damage. Love how the C-101 reacts when it hits something. Very convincing. As for the post-damage flight model, there was a very obvious roll tendency with a clipped wing that worsened the more damaged the wing was which I was happy to see. I noticed however that the ailerons still worked even when they were ripped off. I guess that hasn't been worked on yet. Also, when I ripped half the vertical tail off, I didn't really notice any instability in the yaw axis. But anyways, nice work on the D.M. Really looking forward to seeing it progress!

Yup, everything works perfectly in the latest open beta branch.
-
It was on the latest release version. I'll try downloading the latest patch for Open Beta and see if it makes a difference.
-
I believe you have to purchase it as it has a lot of new content.
-
Looks like a WIP damage model for the C-101 has been released in today's open beta patch.

ok. fyi, I found a couple of work arounds. If you place a C-101CC and then change it to a C-101EB, then the special options tab is available. Also, if you can't select a player controlled C-101EB, place any other aircraft on the map and make it player controlled. Then you can select the C-101EB again and change its properties. Make sure to make the C-101EB player controlled again once it has focus.
-
great news! On a separate note, I found a few mission editor bugs with the C-101EB. First, once you place a player controlled C-101EB on the map and deselect it, you can't select it again. Same thing if you open a mission with a player controlled C-101EB. C-101CC works fine funny enough. Second, the C-101EB doesn't seem to have the special options available, for example, solo flight or IFR hood. Again, it works fine for C-101CC. Third, the default smoke system payload in the weapons selection screen seems messed up. It has a red colourant where white smoke should be. I had to create a custom payload for the smoke to work properly. Thanks for all the hard work! :)

I wonder if you have the 'hear like in helmet' option checked. That makes things quieter.
