  1. Rusty M, I like your choice of card too. Looks like a great bang for buck value buy and I read an excellent review on it a couple of weeks ago at Hexus. Just make sure the length of the card (242mm) won't cause any problems in your case because it is a bit longer than a stock GTX460.
  2. They are bad for your health. :D Back to the thread. DCS A10 is still in beta. It's not the end product. Secondly have you checked out the detailed damage modeling offered in this survey sim? DCS explosions are fine. They are not a turn off or a game-breaker. I would suggest you wait and give it another chance. Not to mention there are some pretty great modders in this community so it is entirely possible that there will be many eye candy mods released after release.
  3. UK VAT is going up from 17.5% to 20% in January.
  4. Yep, hold off for a month. No point buying stuff that may drop in price down the track.
  5. Regarding lifespan I don't think it is a big deal with the cheaper NAND chips. If the SSD lasts a few years then that's fine by me. I don't know too much of my hardware that has a lifespan past 4 years. I really don't think you should be worried about the SLC/MLC choice. Unless you have a Swiss bank account, just get a MLC SSD such as the OCZ you mentioned.
  6. I'd have Louis Gossett Jr as my wingman any day. :pilotfly:
  7. Next generation of SSD's are due out early 2011 which should hopefully bring further improvements along with price reductions per GB. I'm just not sure if I should hold off on a purchase or pickup a current 120GB SSD drive such as the OCZ Vertex 2E priced around £170 before the VAT increase kicks in at the beginning of the year?
  8. JaBoG32_Laud, Very nice screen shots. Love the teo of the F15E. Can you confirm these are with HDR graohics setting that seems to divide the community so much?
  9. No. Thrusty Cougar didn't have it either. I would suggest that you read the two reviews on SimHQ: No.1 http://www.simhq.com/_technology3/technology_174a.html and No.2 http://www.simhq.com/_technology3/technology_200a.html
  10. Yes, you don't appear to be the first SSD user to indicate that the SSD eliminates in-game stutters. This alone is a strong selling point for me besides the other claimed benefits of SSD's. How long can I hold out before I surrender to the SSD? :music_whistling:
  11. Yeah, loved dropping troops into a hot zone. And then of course cruising around hosing down Mujahideen with the 12.7mm 4 barrel gatling gun all the while hoping that one of the little suckers doesn't pop off an SA-7. :gun_smilie:
  12. Works like a dream for me on iPhone Bucic, Finally got around this morning of installing iBooks application on my iPhone and imported the first couple of standard PDF files to test. Worked an absolute treat. It's easy and clear to read. I can jump to any section quickly without fuss. Now I don't need to worry about lugging the spiral bound manual around. That means I can't loose it and it will keep in better condition. Win win. :D This is now at the top of my app list. I will download all the remaining PDF files and move to my iPhone. My spare time productivity levels just shot up. :book: Thanks again Bucic for a simple yet brilliant tool.
  13. Indeed. Totally forgot about the X52. :)
  14. Try three times the price of the Saitek X52 Pro! In the UK the X52 Pro sells for around £100-110 while on Amazon the Thrusty Warthog sells for £330. It's all a question of usage, priorities, and commitment to the DCS series. Some just can't justify spending £300 plus on a HOTAS while others may see better value in something like the X52 Pro which leaves the other £200 that would have been spent on the TM Warthog to upgrade your graphics card to a nice new DX11 card and or an SSD drive. Both HOTAS systems offer excellent features and quality given that they are aimed at different ends of the HOTAS market.
  15. Fingers crossed their intentions will become realized some time early next year.
  16. Cheers for that. :) I was trying to download the whole folder foolishly. It was a late night, that's my excuse. I should have paid attention to your original clear instructions.
  17. Do I need to sign up to Media fire to download this? I check the normal folder box of the 4 and then click on download this folder. When I do that a pop up comes up saying upgrade to media pro or cancel. I can't seem to download any of the 4 files?
  18. Now that is a brilliant idea. Another great use for my business iPhone particulalry given I am about to dive into DCS Blackshark and won't always have that giant 500 page/almost 1 inch thick spiral bound manual on-hand. Can't wait to download this. :)
  19. Looks like Santa turned up early for you Pilotasso. :smilewink: You should be able to carry that card over to your new rig if you so choose.
  20. WOW! Totally beautiful models. :notworthy: I can only hope that we see these in FC2 and DCS series. Fantastic work Tomcatz. How many hours have you put into these 3D models? Nice hoby to have.
  21. I think that this is the best option having a toggle pilot on or off to cater for all.
  22. Fantastic video. Really top notch stuff that I could watch over and over again. Definitely one to keep for future viewing. I have also had that problem. I've managed to download the second part but no luck on the first. I have tried many times over the last couple of days without any success. :wallbash:
  23. Great shots of the Rook getting down and dirty.
  24. I think that the GTS450 was the replacement to the G92 series of cards such as yours. However there isn't much of a jump in price from these 450's up to the GTX460 so I would stick with a GTX460 in your old rig and buy a nice shiny fast new generation card when it is time for you to build a completely new machine. :)
  25. EVGA offer a good deal on warranty and also nice overclocking tools. I'm currently still with my EVGA GTX260 so I can't comment specifically on this GTX460 card. But the GTX460 offer some great value for money. Any half powerful graphics card should come with an external exhaust. I hate the idea of toasty graphics cards spewing all that hot air into the case.
