  1. Adding this model into FC2 will be at the top of the list in things to do once FC2 has been installed. What a gorgeous model and I'm not talking about page 3. :D
  2. Hi guys, As per subject is there any point or gain to be had in increasing my system memory from 2GB up to 4GB in terms of performance of Lockon FC 1.12 and soon to be released FC 2.0 or DCS Blackshark? I currently run Windows 7 64 bit OS along with an Nvidia EVGA GTX260 card with 896MB of video memory. I have my Intel Core 2 Due E6600 overclocked from 2.4Ghz stock up to 3.195Ghz with a FSB of 355Mhz. Current memory configuration is 2 x 1GB sticks with the other two banks empty. Built this system originally back in December 2007 with Win XP and am trying to squeeze what I can out of it before my next build. I could purchase another 2 x 1GB sticks of the same spec memory (although different brand) for around £50 but I have heard that filling up all 4 memory banks can limit or reduce your overclocking headroom of the CPU. If that is the case it would cost me £90 to go for 2 x 2GB matched pair sticks. So what do you think? Is it worth doubling the system memory from 2 to 4GB RAM or am I better of saving for a new build based around the i5-750 or i7-930? I'm really stuck on this one and it has been on my mind the last couple of weeks.
  3. Website looks great and FC2 looks very very promising. This may give me a kick up the pants to update my system before DCS A10 comes along.
  4. This just keeps getting better. We are a darn lucky bunch. Who ever would have thought that Lockon was being brought into the 21st century with the soon to be released FC2. Awesome work.
  5. i5-750, i7-860 or i7-930 would be my three choices depending on budget and overclock the buggery out of them to +4 Ghz.
  6. That is not true. They do accept Paypal.
  7. I plan on ordering my copy from here. Pretty sure this is where I got my manuals from (FC and BS). They are based up at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford Airfield, Cambes, UK. Which reminds me I must pay another visit to Duxford soon. It's been a good 4 years since was last there.
  8. Change the CPU Dave, If you are convinced of going down the socket 1366/X58 platform route then I would recommend that you change your CPU from the i7 920 up to the new i7 930 which effectively will replace the 920 in the future. Has the same D0 stepping which means it should overclock to plus 4Ghz with ease. Novatech has it in stock also: http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/Components/Processors/IntelCorei7/Intel/BX80601930.html In fact check out this review at UK site Bit-Tech (Custom PC magazine people): http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2010/03/01/intel-core-i7-930-cpu-review/1 Otherwise if you want to save a whole lot more then a socket 1156 platform with an i5 750 overclocked to 4Ghz isn't too shabby either.
  9. This model looks absolutely gorgeous. Is this going to be flyable or an eye candy AI aircraft only? Either way it is great work. :)
  10. Wow. Hope to check this out once I sort out my HOTAS setup ad learn the ropes in the A-10a.
  11. As someone who only now is getting into Lockon Flamming Cliffs despite owning the sim for years I think it is great news that ED haven't given up on it or the community. :cheer3nc: I do not expect new flyables or for that matter advanced flight models of other aircraft. I will be happy if they use a little spit and polish to enhance what already is a good sim. :)
  12. Thanks for that great advise. :) I now have Lockon Flamming Cliffs running on my system and have installed latest versions of Modman and have just a few mods installed. I recieved my new Saitek X52 Pro HOTAS and the Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals. Initially when I went into the game having installed all the new Saitek software I wasn't too sure what to do and noticed immediately some conflict in that if I despressed either of the toe brakes on the rudder pedals it would roll me left and so on. Obviously there was a conflict. Then I looked back at what you said regarding deleting the default commands. So I went into the options menu and from the drop down menu selected firstly the Saitek X52 Pro. In there I deleted all of the settings for pitch, roll, rudder, and thrust. Everything else was empty. Then I set pitch to Axis 1, Roll to Axis 0, and thrust to Axis 2. Then from the drop down menu I selected the Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals. Again I deleted any options shown. Then I clicked on rudder cnad changed this to rotator 2. After all these changes above I then clicked ok to save them before then going into quick fly option and noted that all the flight control inputs worked without any apparent conflict. Pitch, roll, thrust, and rudder all worked fine and when I accidentally depressed the toe brakes during rudder changes nothing happened in that the aircraft didn't roll left or anything untoward. I do now have a couple of questions. :helpsmilie: First how should I program the rest of the buttons and controls such as the weapons, rader, and so forth? Should I use the Saitek SSD software or do I program all the functions in the same way as above in game? It would seem like a nightmare task to program all the function buttons and dials via the in game menu. Secondly in the Config folder located within the main lockon directory I noticed a CFG file (config file) named joyrange. Opening this CFG file is has only the following: JoyRange = 400; Should I leave this as is for my Saitek X52 Pro and Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals or should I change this value to something else? Hopefully I can get all these Flight controller stuff sorted out before then moving onto the more important tasks of learning to fly and use effectively the weapons platforms to move some serious mud.
  13. Have you installed the original Lockon v1 first before then trying to install the Flamming Cliffs disc? You cannot just install the Flamming Cliffs disc alone. I also have the disc version of Flamming Cliffs addon and have only just recently re-installed and am in the process of getting serious with Lockon. What I did was install the original Lockon disc I had (version 1). Then I installed Flamming Cliffs via the disc and then finally patched to version 1.12. Hopefully I have given you the right advice as I am a bit of a noob here. More experienced members will either confirm or correct me here. :)
  14. Ok I purchased this sim years ago but never really got into it for reasons not related to Lockon. I had invested much of my time in Silent Hunter III with the Grey Wolves modification and experienced years of WW2 U-boat goodness. But now with the release of DCS Black Shark I am getting itchy feet for some ground pounding and mud moving. In short I want to learn how to fly the Su-25 and Su-25T over the next 3-6 months before seriously commiting to DCS Blackshark. Currently I have a decent system setup as is shown in my signiture. I do not currently have a working joystock or throttle. Hence I have ordered the Saitek X52 Pro HOTAS system along with the Saitek Rudder Pedals. I have also purchased in the last couple of months the Track Ir4 Pro. I have installed Lockon vanilla V.1 disc followed by the Flamming Cliffs addon disc. I then have patched this to versions 1.12. I assume that this is where I need to be in terms of having the simulation up to date? Are there any mods I should install upfront or utilities? What about this Loman/Modman program? Should that be my first starting point? Also are there any good profiles for the Saitek X52Pro and rudder combination aimed at the Su-25/Su-25T?
  15. I strongly doubt very much that they would be free. It would be nice but commercial suicide for the developers. IMO if any additional module is up to the same kind of standards as BS then I would have no problem paying near the same sort of price.
  16. Why not consider the Intel Core 2 Duo line?
  17. I finally joined the Dueal Core club over Christmas. My move was from an old (5 years) AMD Athlon XP1900+ based system to a Intel Cored 2 Duo E6600 based one. The difference in speed, heat, and sound is huge. I'm happy as are games that I simply couldn't play in much detail. No more slide shows.
  18. Exactly. Couldn't have said it better myself. Sure, I'd love to have it released when it is all sorted but that just never happens.
  19. From what I have read here you have to micro-manage the AI wingman to avoid them getting killed. I voted yes but not in the sense that the wingman should be better at dodging inbound missiles but rather in their overall AI behaviour and not getting themselves into crazy suicide situations.
  20. Totally agree. No more eye candy is really needed. When people have a system capable of running Lomac in all it's glory they will realise the riches of eye candy they have been spoilt with. As Thomas said there are other priorities. :)
  21. Yes, yes, yes. Is that clear? :D
  22. Yeah, saw this on Lockonfiles last night and was very impressed. :icon_supe But what's the bottom line regarding a much improved 3d model of the Su27 being in-game for flyable and AI alike? Have ED confirmed that this is definate for either the next patch or Black Shark?
  23. Thanks for the clarification on that Britgliderpilot. :) Heading over to Checksix now.
  24. I have seen on various sites in the download section LOMAN is a utility used to install various mods in a hassle free way with the ability to easily remove the mod if need be also. I have seen there is a 2.1 final version of LOMAN. But I am sure I have also seen mentioned a LOMAN version 5 or something? I would like to start installing some mods onto my currently vanilla LOMAC. I'm currently running LOMAC with Flamming Cliffs installed and patched to version 1.11. What version of LOMAN should I install?
  25. Thanks for that clarification. Doh on my part.
