  1. Lines Filled. My German Grandmother could never see the obvious either. :megalol: Actually it was the monday after releasing the patch notes. People were probably checking for the patch. :music_whistling:
  2. I see lots of people hanging around in the A-10 forums. Waiting for something? :music_whistling: :D
  3. I think that post belongs in the bugs and problems forum. :smilewink:
  4. What are your system specs? CPU, Motherboard, Ram, Video Card, monitor setup, resolution, frame rate, etc?
  5. I wouldn't expect it. They'll probably do the release by joining the 3 titles that basically run smoothly. Kind of walk before run, or Taxi before Fly. :pilotfly:
  6. Thanks I totally understand that. But say they decide to add a plane that is not part of the core or either existing plane set, Say the F-22 raptor. Wouldn't DCS world or even the individual modules have to be updated to include the new plane skins, new weapons, and effects brought on by the F-22? The answer is yes, which means new plane add-ons will also require either DCS world or all other aircraft modules to be updated to interface and display the new addition. Yes in the end there is only one world which is a good thing but ANY significant add to the game would probably need an update to everybody as a patch. IF this is the case (and in some form probably is) my original question stands. Why update the world with the plane in P51 right before updating A-10C right before doing the same with the A-10? Unless of course the patch adds the A-10 info that will also be updated on it's next beta.
  7. just talking about the concept. It could be a game that uses trash trucks from around teh world to pick up trash in one neighborhood in London. Doesn't matter. What DCS is doing is simply putting out a game and selling rights to use certain aircraft. That's fine with me. I was just pointing out that the P-51 game has an update and it's requiring a full re-load of the whole game including DCS World and the A-10 people will probably be doing the same. People get real sensitive when their Sim gets compared to a "game". Surprise, it's just a game. A nice one but still a game that functionally is not much different than others.
  8. Learning energy management is the biggest step. Also try taking off with 25% fuel. and no drop tanks That will lighten the plane up significantly.
  9. If you try playing it you'll find it's the same concept that is being copied. Multiple drivable vehicles running on the same map. The difference is the complexity of the vehicles and the fact that you have to pay for each one instead of them all being included. Actually the concept being copied is Aces High, which is almost identical except for WWII aircraft and the fact you get all aircraft and maps for the same price. I totally understand the concept. You get a single map, and buy the individual planes you want to fly on it. The maps will have to be updated regularly to incorporate the effects of the added planes. Which is the point. Because you have to updae the DCS World with the P51 means you will also have to do the same with the DCS A-10C. So every time they update one they will have to update the other until in the end, DCS world will be on it's own and updated individually. That separation hasn't happened yet.
  10. I understand how the concept will work (basically smaller Battlefield 3 using bigger maps and sim planes instead of game planes), but if they are the same program with this patch then wouldn't the new P51 patch include the A-10? or will it show the future A-10 and KA50 icon as it does now? The reason for the question is that the new P-51 patch requires a full install including DCS world. I'm only talking about the Beta, not the final product.
  11. So does this mean that the P-51 and A-10 patches will not put them both in DCS World yet? and that they will be 2 different programs that happen to be incorporated into DCS at the moment?
  12. What makes no sense to me is why did they just release a patch to the P-51 if they are about to do a A-10c patch? If they will both be on DCS world then wouldn't the P-51 crowd have to do another full install when the A-10 patch released? Or is the A-10c patch hidden in the P-51? If you have the P-51 you might want to wait until the A-10 is released to possibly avoid having to do another lengthly download in a few days.
  13. Looks like they are introducing DCS world the correct way. Adding one piece at a time as beta, fix major problems at each step, then release the final. Who knows maybe with a new fast fighter added? :music_whistling: 1. P51/DCS beta 2. A-10C patch/DCS add. 3. Probably the KA-50 add. 4. Maybe other new plane? (Just wishful thinking) 5. Final DCS release with some bugs fixed. I would think they'd do a package release of the A-10, KA-50 and P51 at a reduced price.
  14. Great News!! So are all of the multiplayer crash issues fixed? Another one I didn't see is sometimes servers disappear from the list after a period of time.
  15. For those who didn't check Who-is here's the info: I'm surprised they only reserved it until this time next year. I wonder if we'd get a response if we emailed the address in the info and asked for the release date. 16. I would think that in real life the couple times it would be feasible are against ground targets when in cold climate andnaval targets. In both cases the area around the targets would be different enough to track. Against naval targets the damage would be minor though due to the type and size of warhead. Maybe just take out personnel.
  17. Another thing you should do is always run down your aux tank at least half way first. The tanks location changes the center of gravity and makes the plane feel unstable. The sooner you burn some of the aux fuel the better. This is even if you have drop tanks. Get the aux down asap. If you're only sticking around the airfield, avoid full fuel. I don't know about this sim but others do not fill the Aux tank when running below 100% fuel.
  18. Thanks I just found the answer in post 183 of this thread. slmod_daemon.vbs was associated with notepad. When I followed the post 183 instructions it started working.
  19. Rebound the Open Chat to the Tab key and still not working. :(
  20. Thanks I'll ave it a try with both commands and it just posted as a regular message. I tried both with quotes and without. To get to chat I'm hitting esc then clicking on chat.

  22. Tonight I hosted a mission called On Station which advertises use of SL Mod. The start screen noted 2 commands /spawntask, and /getupdate. When in game I tried both and got invalid command for them. I have SLMod installed. Is there something I have to do to activate it or just follow the install instructions? Thanks
  23. Best thing to do is follow the patch installation instructions exactly. You can find them in the link on the first page of this thread.
  24. Pretty much sums it up. Adding any other WWII aircraft would be a waste of time and money unless the european or pacific theatre was added. Then what you would wind up with is Aces High which has dozens of aircraft and the 2 theatres. In order to compete with them you would also have to produce a full time on-line server that allowed for hundreds of planes in the same battle. The theatres would also have to have period buildings, trains vehicles etc. Not the modern one's in the current set-up. I think DCS should stick with the modern theme. They also need to spend a lot of time getting the multiplayer bugs out and add to the engine to make it more dedicated server friendly. They also could pump out a few non sim accurate planes to provide competition. Just make the aerodynamics etc similar and put it in the shell of other planes. That would get them off the ground while they took time releasing more accurate models.
  25. P51 Mustang Manual Maybe this means there is a new patch coming as well. Over in the P51 forums there is a link to the manual for the upcoming DCS P51D. Guess this means it's coming soon. I would assume they would also be releasing the next patch around the same time.
