That pretty much sums it up. Another thing to add is Ram. If you hit the max on ram your machine has to access the hard drive more. This will make you stutter big time.

You could also use trig to figure it out. Put the target on the tick mark on one side so you are at 90 degrees and fly at a steady speed. (say 200 mph) When the target moves back 10 more degrees mark the time and note the distance traveled. If it took 2 minutes you moved 6.7 miles. (200 mph / 60 mins =3.333 miles per minute) Your target will be just under the 6.7 miles at the current bearing. Explained Since you started on your 90 you have the first leg of the triangle. Your traveled leg is the adjacent leg. (6.7 miles) The 10 degrees traveled is your angle. The formula for the cosine of the angle is Adjacent over Hypotenuse We know 2 parts. (Angle 10 degrees and adjacent distance 6.7) Using your calculator enter 10 and hit cos. You will find it to be .984 This means that the adjacent distance divided by the hypotenuse is .984. You can do the algebra and find that the answer is 6.7/.984 or 6.8 miles. It's so close the marging of error isn't worth it. Just use the 6.7 miles. By the way this only works because the target is stationary.

New Date for FC3? Is there a new date for FC3 or is it still to be determined? Sucks that we are told almost last minute after anticipating for 4 weeks but I guess that's how companys operate these days.:dunno:

Do you have to fly straight and level during inflight align?

Looks like the F-15 streak eagle was capable of more than 100k. It did 98,425 feet in 3 minutes and "coasted" to 103k before descending. Wonder what it could have done if kept under power. http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/factsheets/factsheet.asp?id=2283

It's been posted several places. Trying to go back and find it is often hard. If you do a search for the user 159th_viper over at Simhq you'll find he mentions it now and then. He seems to be someone in the know. Here's 2 of his posts: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3648943/Re_Master_Server_Falls_over_mo.html#Post3648943 http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3648996/DCS_stopped_working.html#Post3648996

Hopefully they get it right this time. I think there are many people not playing on-line and are waiting for things to get fixed up. Fingers crossed.

We'll probably see an update to World the day before FC3. If memory serves me well that's how it happened last couple of times.
-
I doubt it. The SSD is just a different type of storage. The computer doesn't know the difference. I've been running an M4 for about a year. The program also crashes random times when on-line. It tends to hate everyone equally. The crash issue is a known one and recent posts indicate that they may have found the issue(fingers crossed).

optimised settings for high end gpu's TESTED ON 680

The key is to turn OFF the HPET. It's well known to cause stuttering when on during gaming. -

Adding memory depends on your OS. It will only help if you have 64 bit. -

Also turn off the High Performance Event Tmer in the Bios (HPET) Some manufacturers call it something different. There are plenty of articles out there on the subject. The HPET is responsible for stuttering in many games. -
On short runways I like to land with the air brakes extended and use throttle to adjust speed. It gives me better speed control and when I cut throttle the air brakes are already out which cuts stopping time.

Overly confusing patch and update process, need help please
Hamblue replied to William516's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Just do a download of world and the module you purchased (A-10, Ka-50 etc) Then do an install as usual. Don't try to do an install from disk and patch. -
That brings up this screen. Here you can add a curve to reduce the sensitivity of the control. You can also click on the little box called invert.. Some controls default the opposite. which is why when you push the brake it releases. By inverting you are actually making it work normally. Good Luck Oh and the brakes aren't assigned to the rudders but the pedals. The rudder is forward and backward movement. The pedals have a movement like a gas pedal.
-
Next Click on the control whos axis you want to change: I have both left and right pedals selected for wheel brake so I do joyx first then joy. Then click on axis tune on the bottom:

Jordan. Try holding both pedals down when taking and taking off. You will find that pressing the pedals down will release the brakes and letting go will put them back on. Here's where you change it. Go to controls and click on axis assign on the bottom as shown here: T

I'm hoping that AMD or someone will put something out in the future to get intel to step it up. Lately they've been slowing down with development. The last 2 genterations of chips are close in speed. Concentration has been made on shrinking die sized more which is good but innovation is nothing like when the 2 were neck and neck.

Rudder pedals make me a better pilot?
Hamblue replied to Username455's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It will take at least a few weeks to fully get used to them. Spend some time on the ground steering and you will get the feel a little faster. Also play around with the axis settings. Adding some curve helps for some people. -
In the end the ops problem is probably one of 3 things. 1. Landing too fast. 2. Touching down too far down the runway. 3. Air/Wheel brakes not applied.
-
Until you get the hang of it, hit the red button (emergency jettison)on the top left of the console. It will get rid of any ordinance you have left and make the plane lighter. As noted earlier, lower the flaps and get the airspeed down to 130 or alittle lower. Use the tire marks as a target to touch down. A couple of seconds before touching hit the air brakes. Press and hold the W key or rudder pedal wheel brakes if you have them. You should be able to taxi off half way down the runway.
-
Yes, download it from the DCS site. Takes a while but you won't have to worry about steam. Your serial number should work with it.

I'll try a couple of those ideas. I'm surprised they overlooked it. Sometimes you can accidentally click on the wrong area. Unassigning would be nice but we go to war with what we have. :joystick:

Thanks. Can they be moved? Say I use a couple for a mission, then return to re-arm/fuel. Should I reset everything to start over or can they be re-located for the next mssion?
