The next comment will probably be the patch. Chances are they are working on things found with the P-51 beta and patch to incorporate into the other 2 products.

Amazing how the topic keeps flip flopping between the real world and the Sim. I'm sure in the real world the A-10 is more survivable however the original quiestion was about the SIM. The way games are set up gives the sim pilot the ability to clear the path as you go. There's no urgency to get to the target area in a timely mannor to prevent friendly casualties. That being the case the platform that can act as a lawn mower has the advantage.

How many installations can I have with a only serial number?
Hamblue replied to 6S.Duke's topic in Payment and Activation
Does this have to be done for each installation or is the activation kept in the registry and survive uninstall/re-install? I've never had to do an activation that I actually saw something going on. -
You might want to check the key bindings. Maybe something is mapped by default.

Hamblue replied to 6S.Duke's topic in Payment and Activation
Were do you de-activate the software? And where does it say what constitutes an installation? With all of the uninstall and re-installs I've done due to variouse program errors are those counted towards the install count? -
DCS A10C in nvidia 3Dvision
Hamblue replied to blackbelter's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Do you need 3d glasses for it to work? Also maybe games have to be made 3d to see the full effect. -
Thanks for the links. I'll check them out.

Hi When playing on-line I often get missions sent which include the target coordinates. Is there an efficient way to enter these as a waypoint or markpoint? or do I have to locate it on the F10 map? Thanks.

My experiences with TracIr so far
Hamblue replied to Nereid's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
What you are experiencing is normal for trackir beginners. Learning to use the new tool is like learning anything else that is new to your body. You aren't used to having a small head movement equate to the visual of multiple times that. 3 hours is nothing but an introductory. Stick with it, before you know it you'll be looking around literally like you were actually in the cockpit. Some people take weeks if not over a month to fully acclimate but it will happen. As far as the activation key, you can set that up in the software. In the software under the hotkey section there are 2 main items that you can set-up. The first is the most used and a necessity. It's called center. Over time while looking around and shifting etc the calibration can get a little out of whack. Hitting the center key (that you map) gets it back in line. Just look straight forward and hit the key. The second is pause. This key is what I assume you are looking for with the activation key. It simply stops the software when hit and starts it when hit again. After re-activating, simply hit the center key and you're back in business. Once again stick with it. You've been looking at computer screens and televisons for a long time. It will take time for your brain to learn the new method but it will happen. Good Luck  -
Be careful with that X52. It might only be the throttle. The owner may not know he doesn't have the whole thing.

Thats a good card. If you're running fine then stick with it unless you want to jump to the 680 or 690.

Looks like a good set-up. I agree with boosting the power supply. That motherboard will support up to 32 gig of ram. I would start-off with 16 gig. 8 will do fine for now but if you go to 16 gig you can turn off the swap drive and get some more speed out of it. For Video I'd get the GTX 670. It's a better card and uses less power. Whatever you get for a case make sure it has at least a 120mm fan on the side to help with GPU cooling. Also consider going with self contained water cooling for the CPU since you will probably do a moderate overclock to at least 4 ghz. I use the corsair H80 and am happy with it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181016

Ram will definitley help. The less time the machine has to access the hard drive the better.

I thought I saw the same. The 7970 has more ram to give it a boost with 3 monitors. They now also have a 4 gig 680 which grabs that title. The 690 though is a beast.
-
I picked up the 680 last month. Making sure I have something to keep up with the future F-18 hornet. :)

The ram you found should be ok. Just make sure the voltage range matches what's available on your motherboard. Overclocking the i3 will definitely give you more performance but it's like putting a turbo on a Yugo. Just make sure it gets plenty of cooling as the overclock will heat it up a bit. Also make sure any background programs that don't have to be running are shut down before starting the game.
-
Also make sure the APU is running when starting the engines.
-
What motherboard is in your machine. I doubt that it can utilize the full potential of DDR1600 so I wouldn't worry. You can just get 8 gig of ram in 2 sticks to replace what you have. It's cheap these days and for about 60 bucks US you can get decent quality. I would also recommend a step up to the i5 or better series of chip. The i3 is on the low side when it comes to gaming.

Thanks For the input. I have a Razer Nostromo N52. I guess I could do the same and program the buttons for some of the functions.

Or simulated Flight Sim. :music_whistling:

The 460 is a decent video card. If you up the ram double it to 8gb. Ram is cheap these days. You could also possibly replace that i3 chip with an i5 which should offer a decent performance boost. I believe they fit the same socket.

Why are all the mp server password protected?
Hamblue replied to leafer's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Running the servman mod should help with those killing friendlies. It will do an auto kick. I set it to kick after 2 friendly kills to account for accidents. I also set the time to allow back on to 10 minutes instead of the usual 15. -
I have the same issue sometimes. Try re-centering with your head closer to the screen then move back to normal position. Also if you have issues sometimes looking down at the controls try re-centering with your head looking up some. It makes looking down easier.
-
Also try lowering the resolutoion to 1600x1024. Shadows are another thing you can turn off to speed things up.

I guess it would have just as much to do with experience as anything else. Most of the KA50 drivers I see in the servers seem to do pretty well.
