Modules are addons to DCS:World that allow users to use different aircraft. PeterP is talking about the BS2 1.2.0 module that will allow you to fly the Black Shark in DCS:World. The modules are available here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=136&scr=products&lang=en

The SU-25T doesn't have a clickable cockpit like the DCS jets. Although a very high level sim, it is not as complex as the DCS aircraft and is rather a carryover from LOMAC:FC2.

AMD Catalyst 12.8 (8.982.0 July 27) AMD Official WHQL
AceKng1 replied to Mustang's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks, meant to try this the other day but have been too busy and unable to fly. Was actually going to try tonight so thank you for saving me the hassle. Guess 11.6 is going to be it for awhile. :( -
GBUs will target your current SPI. Unless you have manually set a SPI, your current SPI will be your target waypoint. To manually set a SPI, use TMS up long. For example: when your TGP is set as your sensor of interest you can use TMS up long to set your SPI as whatever your TGP is targetting. To reset your SPI to your current waypoint, use TMS down long.

I just used a Visa credit card for the purchase and everything went fine so purchases are still working. I'm in AL, USA.

One thing to consider is that the standalone versions are no longer being updated so all new content/bugfixes will only be added to World. Another advantage of World is that it takes a lot less disk space than having all separate modules installed. Finally, it is pretty nice in World having all your aircraft in the same place and not having to switch sims to switch craft.

Any news on if this fixes the flashing white boxes with a 69xx and HDR turned on? I'll test it when I get home from work if no one else has by then. -
I have not noticed this myself. One way to check for this is to look at your task manager under the Performance tab when the game starts to slow down. Check your Physical Memory Usage. Also, check this after closing the game to see if your ram is still being eaten up by something. You can look at the Resource Monitor to see what exactly is taking up that memory. You might also look at your GPU memory that is being used. I use the tool GPU-Z to monitor my GPU usage and temps. Definitely something worth looking in to.

This sounds like the alt-tab bug. First, make sure the disable aero box in options is unchecked. If it is currently checked, see if unchecking it fixes your problem. If not, try simply alt-tabbing out of the game and back in before starting the mission.

I never actually zoom out as my standard sitting position is as far back as I can go. If by increasing the HDR strength I have pushed the flickering window to an even wider FOV then I should hopefully never see it. I've flown about 5 hours since doing this (I actually changed this setting yesterday purely for the HDR effect not knowing it would help with the flickering) and have not seen any flickering since!
-
I can confirm that this solved my flickering problems. At 300 I was getting flickering around the edges of my screen even without zooming out. This may have been because of my large overall resolution (4080x1595). I set the value to 500 and the flickering completely stopped. Thanks for this great mod PeterP!

The 1.2 version is the A-10c module for DCS:World. It is only 700MBs because most of the game is installed with the DCS:World installer. To install the module you must first install DCS:World found here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?ProductId=21&end_pos=137&scr=product&lang=en This is probably the best thing to do at this point as DCS:World is the future for DCS and any updates to the game will be made to World and not the standalone versions. More info on DCS:World can be found here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=90964 Good luck! I know it can be frustrating at times getting everything setup but it is definitely worth it in the end!

In a normal airplane, the wheel brakes are controlled by the rudder pedals. Sliding the pedals forwards and backwards turns the nosewheel/moves the rudder. Pressing the pedals down (like individual pedals in a car) engages the wheel brakes. This is why the wheel brakes are assigned to rudder controls in the game. When I first got my Saitek pedals and plugged them in, the toe brake axis was inverted. This meant when my pedals were at rest the wheel brake was fully engaged. When I pressed the pedals down, the wheel brake would be released. To fix this, click axis tune and then check the invert tick box. I'm also not 100% but I think the wrong axis were mapped when I first plugged in my pedals. To assign the correct axis, first select the rudder box under axis control and slide your rudder pedals all the way until it recognizes the command. You may have to change which side you are pushing on if it doesn't recognize it on one side. Next, select the left wheel brake. Then push only the left pedal down. Repeat for the right wheel brake/toe pedal. Finally, check to see if the brakes are engaged or disengaged when the pedals are at rest. If engaged, select the left wheel brake axis, click tune axis, then check the inverted axis tick box. Repeat for the right wheel brake. You should then be all set as far as rudder pedals go!

You can leave your steam version installed. To use the A-10c in DCS World you must install the A-10 1.20 Module for DCS World found here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?scr=product&ProductId=8&end_pos=136&lang=en This will be completely separate from you steam install.

Remove the check mark. You don't want it to disable aero.
-
The Hellfire missile is actually either laser guided or radar guided. These still allow you to change the missile's target after launch. I don't think the A-10a ever carried Hellfires though. I have no idea what munition Mar004 is remembering. Could you simply be remembering a different plane such as using Vikhers on the Su-25?

He was not saying it is a "First Person Shooter". Rather you will get better "Frames Per Second" in BS1 because the graphics are much less intensive than BS2/World.

[INVESTIGATING] Bino View with multi-screen Setup
AceKng1 replied to Nirvi's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hi PhoenixBvo, I don't know if your problem with SoftTH is the same as couple of us were having in this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=91240 We were also not able to click on parts of the screen, namely the left and top. If it is we were able to find a solution in this post: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=91240&page=3 Hope this works for you too! -
I have fixed the error! I did several things so not sure which particular step or combo of steps fixed it but this is what I did: 1. First, I unchecked the "Use Windows XP style DPI scaling" in the custom DPI settings and rebooted. I tried a mission after doing this and the problem was still there. However, I did not change it back and so don't know if this plays a part. I also made sure the scale was on 100%. 2. In my config.SoftTHconfig I added the line "enableVBQuirk=1" under the debug section. 3. I set keepComposition to 1 in the main section of the config.SoftTHconfig. I feel like this may be the root of the problem as it was still disabling aero even though the setting was unchecked in DCS:World. Steps 2 and 3 I found by following PeterP's SoftTH news thread here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=71710 Thank you so much PeterP! You are a huge help to many people on this forum, especially everyone working with multiple monitors/SoftTH.
-
You are correct, I am using SoftTH. Thanks PeterP, I'll try this when I get home from work. I have not touched DPI since installing Windows 7 but maybe it is enabled by default. If so I'll disable it and see if it works.

Has anyone found a fix for this? I have tried alt tabbing before doing anything else at mission start but this problem is still here. I have noticed that the window appears to be shifted. I have a monitor to the right of my main that the game is not using but when I mouse over the lower left side of this monitor the cursor changes to the yellow crosshairs from in game. The area that this occurs matches perfectly with the clickable rectangle within the game. So it appears that the rectangle window has just been shifted to the right and down.

To only have your cockpit view on the top monitor you need to set the height of your Center viewport to 1080. PeterP has written a great article on setting up multiple monitors. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1469638#post1469638 To run multiple monitors in fullscreen you will have to use SoftTH. Eyefinity or NVIDIA Surround also allow spanning fullscreen across multiple monitors but as your side monitors are different resolutions SoftTH is your best bet. SoftTH is easy to setup and run; my first attempt with SoftTH, a simple 2 monitor setup, I put the dll in my bin folder and launched the game and it created the config file for me and everything worked. This thread has more information on setting up SoftTH: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=90300

Coming back to the game, download confusion
AceKng1 replied to rudel.dietrich's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Welcome back! A lot has happened in the last 3 years. Yes, that link is what you should download to use your Black Shark key and play. I'm not sure if that is the latest version, you may need to apply the 1.01c and 1.02 patches found here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/patches/?PAGEN_1=2 BS1 is not compatible with World so if you want to use the Black Shark in DCS:World you will want to buy the upgrade version of BS2 and then install the BS2 module for DCS:World. I highly recommend this as BS2 introduced a lot of really good improvements. A full list can be found here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=81117 If you want to buy A-10, buy it now on Steam. It is on sale for cheap. However, do not install the steam version. Download and install DCS:World then download and install the A-10 module for World. When you start a mission in the A-10 for the first time you will be prompted for your key, enter the key that is found in your Steam library. This will be version 1.2. The Steam version is the standalone A-10c 1.1.1.1 and this version is no longer being upgraded as everything is now part of World. DCS:World is not EDs version of Steam. DCS:World is the backbone game from here on out. It contains the graphics, mission editor, missions, vehicles, and all other parts of the game. It even includes a Su-25T that is free to fly in single player. When you buy and install the separate modules, it simply opens up that playable part of the game. For example: if you buy A-10c and install the module, you will then be able to fly the A-10c inside of DCS:World. The advantages of this is that now all modules are under the same system. You can play multiplayer with anyone else playing World, no matter if they are flying a Shark, an A-10, or driving a tank or acting as JTAC with Combined Arms. If you want to try DCS:World to see if it will work on your system it is free to download and install. You can then fly the Toad in singleplayer missions without having to buy any of the new modules. Once you install a module you will then be able to fly the Toad in multiplayer as well. As for your last question, DCS:A-10c does not have an autopilot like that per se. What you can do is watch tracks. You can make a track yourself or download other users tracks from online. When you launch a track you will be in the cockpit viewing exactly what the person did who recorded the track. You can speed up or slow down time, pause the game, or even take control of the aircraft and fly it yourself. While this isn't a dynamic autopilot like what you described, it does allow you to view how others fly, use systems, and engage in combat. There are also interactive training missions in A-10c and others that users have made for Black Shark 2 that really help you get in and learn how to fly. I hope all this helps! If you have any more questions feel free to ask!- 1 reply
