  1. Can't wait! First the Huey and then this. Someone pinch me! The Mi-8/Mi-17 was, by far, my favourite vehicle of the whole OFP/ArmA series. I just love the view for the cockpit... Having a version with DCS standards is going to be simply fantastic. Recommended read, by the way:
  2. The flight model is simply excellent, and as good as the DCS series. Remember that the Su-25T and Su-25 from Flaming Cliffs were the first ones to get the advanced flight model. The HUD is also pretty accurate. That video is from an SM, a much more recent upgrade. Keep in mind the T is pretty much 1980's tech. The main differences from the T and the rest of the DCS series are the lack of clickable cockpit and the missing systems (power, radio, etc), which means you don't get to start-up your bird properly, but once you are up and running, the experience is pretty much the same. And if you've flown the Shark you'll also notice that the weapons systems are almost as accurate, but with a lot more choice this time.
  3. Just discovered this old thread. Amazing stuff! I've come back to FC2 after a long break learning the Shark. DCS World reminded me how much fun the Su-25T was, and I realised I never got properly into the basic Su-25 as I should. Time to finally try these skins! :) Thanks for the awesome work!
  4. It's old, slow, and challenging... I love it! Would buy any version, from the most basic K to the latest SM.
  5. That is a fantastic article! I just wanted to say thanks. Really enjoyed reading it.
  6. Tried this and it works a treat! Many thanks!
  7. Excellent! Will try these target points when I get a chance. And of course, the targets on the PVI! I remember reading about it on the maual (and the INU fix) but I've never tried them (only briefly tried to correct a route point once with the shkval...) Plenty of stuff to play with. Thanks so much!
  8. That would be awesome, if it's not too much trouble! Thanks! :) One quick question. Can you add datalink targets on the mission editor? It would be quite useful having some targets pre-loaded on the Abris, even if the enemy would be expected to move about after the mission starts.
  9. Awesome video! I was actually learning about the mysteries of the Datalink last week, but it always good to see someone else's routine in action. Thanks a lot!
  10. You need to install first DCS World 1.2.0, and then KA-50 1.2.0 It will detect you BS2 install and activate the Ka-50 icon on DCS World
  11. Awesome!
  12. I was so sure you had found the answer, Viper! but unfortunately I'm getting the same results as Nate: Missiles go dead even with the sigh centred throughout. I'll try doing some tests in FC2 again this week if I find some time. It's been a while, but I just don't remember losing so many Vikhrs... Thanks anyway for looking at the problem! Vikhr test 02.trk
  13. Here you go. Track attached. First Vikhr hits the water. Second hits the target. Both aiming on the lower part of the reticle. Thanks for looking at this! Vikhr test 01.trk
  14. I tried keeping the target on the lower half of the aiming circle, and still no luck. I guess I'll have to go Back to BS2 and FC2 until it gets fixed... Thanks anyway for the suggestions!
  15. Will try. Thank you!
  16. Aha! So I'm not the only one. This has been bugging me since the DCS World release. At least 50% of my Vikhrs drop to the ground. I had no problems in FC2. Fingers crossed it gets fixed!
  17. New gameplay video! The app has been submitted. Should be out any day now! More info on the blog: http://www.astronautgame.blogspot.co.uk/
  18. Cool! Thanks for the tip. I'll try searching more out of the window before turning on the Shkval. It makes perfect sense if you think about how narrow the camera FOV is. And about turning around. I've noticed that if I let the battle unfold a little bit before I get there it's a lot easier to get my bearings. Nothing like a smoking tank to mark a position! Not the most heroic approach, but hey! If it helps... :) I remember, thought, reading many years ago Yeager's autobiography how easy it was for him to pick up small targets on the ground when he flew his P-51 over Europe. He said he could easily spot men running away from vehicles trying to hide from him. He wasn't proud of it (he was following orders after all), but he does hint that those me had nowhere to hide... The Su-25 is a faster plane than the P-51, but still... I feel spotting things should be a little bit easier. Will try harder. Thanks again!
  19. I'm finding the R-60 quite effective, actually. Just make sure you are in air mode (6), point the crosshairs towards the target and shoot when you get a loud tone lock. The valid lock cone is quite narrow, I'll give you that, but if you see the target it's easy to lock. I have a question myself: About Spotting ground targets. I'm finding it a lot harder than in FC2. Has anything changed? Or am I getting older? (I suspect it's the later). I used to always carry a Mercury pod, even in daylight missions, but now I just can't see anything out there. Not with the eyeballs, nor with the Shkval or the Mercury. Any tips you guys would like to share?
  20. Nothing major here. It works surprisingly well. The only thing I can see is the polygons of the grey dashboard on the left of the HUD, just above the AoA indicator, stopping and not curving completely around the left dash, but only when I move my body all the way to the left, and it's hardly noticeable. No holes at all. Even if I use the widest FOV.
  21. Simply wow. I still have to pinch myself with all this stuff coming up almost daily. DCS is going to be huge.
  22. Teaser video New teaser! Coming soon to an iPhone near you :)
  23. A friend of mine has been working of this: A Manned Manouvering Unit sim, coming soon to iOS (iPhone and iPod) Flying this thing around is surprisingly rewarding. The best bit is the attention to detail on those models. He is not cutting any corners! More stuff on his blog, if you are interested in his day-to-day coding and modelling adventures... :) http://www.astronautgame.blogspot.co.uk/
  24. If you exit the Autoplitot on a highly banked turn, the plane will be trimmed for that turn. If I rememer well from my Su-25 days... you have to options: 1- Reset trim as soon as you exit AP 2- Before turning off AP, turn on Level AP, and once in level flight, turn off AP (this was my preferred system).
  25. Nobody said it was :) In 15 minutes I doubt very much you've tried all the loadouts this bird can carry. A lot more than the Shark. You'll be surprised. Give it a chance. It's still good fun :)
