That is a good mission. I altered it in the mission editor, so the Mig-15bis AI is boosted from average to excellent. The mission is a lot of fun.

I hope that the team makes the hardest difficulty level, as tough as possible. I certainly intend to get the Mig-21bis add-on. I will sim fly the Mig-21, even on servers with the dreaded F-15, but I do intend to sim-fly the Sabre against the Mig-21, too. Human Mig-21 sim pilots will show me no mercy, so I would like an AI level where the AI plays to the best attributes of the Mig-21bis. Such AI may not prepare me for the top human pilots, but it will give me something to chew on, when I am not up against humans.

With each opportunity to sim fly the Sabre, I am increasingly convinced that the, "Problem" I initially perceived with the Mig-15bis AI, that it was a, "UFO," capable of climbing in an unrealistic manner, was far more directly related to my perceived skill in using the Sabre being far greater than my actual skill level, than an actual issue with the AI. With some practice under my belt, the Mig-15bis, even on the highest difficulty setting, does not seem nearly as capable as it once did. For instance, even though the Mig-15bis can still climb like a monkey, with proper energy management, I can now temporarily match the Mig in a climb, long enough to take a lethal shot.

Next DCS (Russian) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
mjmorrow replied to Milene's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I would like the next fixed wing Russian plane to be the Mig-15bis. Someone is making the Super Sabre and there are other Vietnam era Blue rides on the way. Red will need a fighter for that era. I think that the Mig-17F or Mig-17PF would be the logical Red side workhorse, to counter the Vietnam era Blue rides. -
Mig-15: fearsome killer in gun-only dogfights!
mjmorrow replied to vegue's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
The Mig-15bis is a respectable AI opponent. The AI Mig-15bis is better than some human opponents I have faced in other flight simulations. I am glad that the Mig-15bis AI is pretty good. When I encounter human controlled Mig-15bis machines, there are going to be utterly fantastic sim pilots in control of many of those Migs. I will not have the luxury of setting the difficulty level of my human opponents. :megalol: P.S. I wish the flyable DCS Mig-15bis was already in game. I am a big fan of the DCS Sabre, I think the Sabre is utterly fantastic. I bet I will really like the Mig-15bis, too. -
The Sabre is a whole lot of fun. The start up procedure for the Sabre is easier than the start up procedure for the TF-51 Mustang. If you can start up and sim fly the Mustang, you can handle the F-86f Sabre. Here is a video of my sim flying the Sabre: https://vimeo.com/102893352 With a little practice, she is a really fun machine. :)

OMG! This is super awesome. I can't wait to add this to my kneeboard. Thank you, so very much!

Yeah, the more time I spend with the F-86F, the happier I am with the AI Mig-15bis. The Fagot can get away in a climb, the Sabre can get away in a dive. Nether approach to making a getaway is perfect, though. If an opponent has a lot of energy, making a getaway is easier said than done. A Fagot has good initial acceleration in a dive and can stay close to a Sabre, for a little while. A Sabre is not as good at climbing as the Fagot, but the Sabre can climb with a Fagot, for a little while. PvP Sabre vs Fagot multiplayer matches will be very exciting and challenging, for both sides.

The Mig-15bis is a neat opponent. l can't wait to sim fly the Mig-15bis. When that day comes, the Fagot will have stiff competition, though. I really find the Sabre to be a very likable machine. The initial acceleration of the Sabre can be an issue, an issue best avoided by keeping the Sabre moving fast. Once the Sabre is moving fast, she can point her nose down and get away from a Fagot. This is really reasuring. The gun sight on the Sabre is utterly fantastic. I like the armament of the Sabre. I like the handling characteristics of the Sabre. Now, I am sure that I will also come to enjoy sim flying the Mig-15bis. I will appreciate her unique advantages, as well, once she is released. Still, I will always be happy to sim fly the Sabre.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List

Strike that. I may be confusing the Shenyang J-2 and J-4. I have to double check, tonight. -

One thing I did not consider, above. The Mig-15bis may be close enough to the J-4 to serve as an accurate Vietnamese era combat aircraft. I believe that some of the earliest North Vietnameese air kills were made with the J-4, so a DCS Mig-15bis would be a realistic opponent for a DCS F-105 Thud. -

Well, the F4 would sure be great. We could probably use the Mig-21bis as an escort for the Thud, if the Thud is made and there is no F4, immediately out. I would use the F-86f or Mig-15bis as a stand in for the Mig-17, until there is a Mig-17f or Mig-17PF. -

A Thud would be a lot of fun to sim fly. : would like the challenge of sneaking up on a ground target, then dropping the nose and making the jump to hyperspace...well going supersonic, anyway. I would also like the challenge of hunting the Thud, using a Mig-17, the way the North Vietnamese Air force had to do so, very often. I really like the Sabre, so I think I will also really like the Mig-17. -

I would like to thank the skin maker, going by the nick,"Mig- 21," behind creating the Bunny Fighter skin. I am very much looking forward to sim flying my Leatherneck Mig-21bis clad in the Bunny Fighter skin. I hope that you can add the drop tanks and missiles made to look like carrots! ::pilotfly:

This weekend, I can't wait to try to battle it out with the Mig-15bis, again. So long as the Sabre stays very fast, she seems pretty safe. My big problem is spotting the Mig-15, once the fight gets low. Planes are seriously hard to track in DCS World. I am used to plane spotting in ROF, BOS, IM, and CLOD. Now I have to just get used to spotting planes in DCS.

No way would they do that, Too Tall. That would be the working capital cash conversion cycle from Hell. :megalol:

Oh, I am very happy with the Sabre. She is a very capable ride and a great introductory jet, for a jet newbie, like myself. The Sabre will teach me a lot about the unique flying characteristics and behaviors of transonic swept wing jet aeroplanes. I also need to learn all manner of basic skill sets, such as ndb navigation. The Sabre is a perfectly good platform for learning such basic skills.

I really like the Sabre! She is outstanding. What a beauty, inside the cockpit and outside the cockpit. I think I like her best without any weapons cluttering her wonderfully swept wings, though she looks sharp with fuel tanks and Sidewinders, too. She doesn't need missiles, that is for sure. The K-4 and six guns make a great team. The Sabre is agile and fast. She is a real nimble and capable predator of bomber interceptor prey. The Sidewinder is pleasantly ineffective, as I imagined it would be. In six attempts at downing Mig-15bis fighters with a sidewinder, I have zero air kills. I think the Sidewinder may be a pretty good weapon to use on a transport plane, bomber, or any airplane flying in a, more or less, straight line, maneuvering Mig killer, it is not. Still, it is worth while to shoot a Sidewinder at a Mig, if only to see one of the zillion ways that missile can fail to come into contact with a Mig. All and all, I am greatly impressed with the Sabre. I have no regrets. She is definitely worth having. I will enjoy her for years to come. Thanks to the team for creating this wonderful add-on. -MJ

The Mig-21 looks great and so does Edge.

I wouldn't mind something off beat like an alien craft. Zombies didn't hurt ARMA. Thinking outside the box can be a good idea. I would also love to see the Skyly J2, from Sky Crawlers, added in DCS World.

We could be flying the F-86F by tomorrow. Do you think we will be?
mjmorrow replied to Teeter's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
If the Sabre can be released by July 25, I am sure it will be. -
You thought the cold start might be boring?! I loved it. I am buying your Mig-21 the first day it comes out. What a work of art. Thank you all for doing such a great job on the Mig-21 and for sharing a coldstart with us.

Wow! Excellent. When I get the Mig-21, I can look at this video and I will be able to commit the start up procedure to memory. I really appreciate videos, like this one, because I learn better through seeing something done, though example, than through reading a manual. The Mig-21 looks outstanding. Thank you for making this great video!
