 As the previous poster mentioned, there are several Spitfire machines in the works. VEAO is also making a De havilland Vampire Fb5, as well. I think that the Vampire will go great with the Mustang, in a korean War scenario.

The Sabre is my favorite ride, so I really appreciate any and all improvements, including the new sounds.

I will definitely get the Mig-15bis. I will use both the Sabre and the Fagot. I don't know which I will use more. I will join whichever multiplayer side needs players. Frankly, I am a big fan of both the Sabre and the Fagot. Each brings something unique to the equation. The Sabre is a great fighter, with superlative roll rate, instantaneous turn, and sustained dive speed. The Fagot is a fantastic bomber interceptor, can climb like a banshee and has three cannons to punch right through a bomber formation. Each will offer unique advantages and challenges.

Armament: F-86 vs. Mig-15, Which style do you prefer?
mjmorrow replied to Ultra's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
I like both types of armament, but for different roles. The F-86F is a fighter. The Mig-15bis is a bomber interceptor. In multiplayer, when I use the Sabre, my primary target will be the Fagot and the six guns should be well adapted for that task. In multiplayer, when I use the Fagot, my primary target will be bombers and my three cannons ought to be highly effective for that task. -
Yes! A lack of G- Suits will really add to the challenge of sim flying the Mig-15bis in DCS multiplayer. When we are going with Korean War match ups, this makes great sense. The Mig-15bis is a bomber interceptor, optimized to hunt B-29's. Without a G- Suit, to pick off a Sabre will take great care and skill, as it should. There was nothing easy about fighting against the FEAF Sabre pilots in the real World. This is a flight simulator. In multiplayer, dealing with a lack of G-suits just adds to the simulation of flying a Mig-15bis.
-
For Korean War scenarios there probably shouldn't be G-suits, but if Mig-15 pilots had the suits later on, such as during the First Taiwan Strait Crisis, then it makes sense to include the suits. Did Mig-15bis pilots ever get G-suits? I think that if they did use the suits, at some time, the suit should be available, but not for Korean War era missions.

What wonderful skins! I really appreciate all the effort. When I learn how to make skins for DCS, I will surely contribute a few skins. Right now I don't have the time or skills to produce a quality skin. I will have to look at a Youtube tutorial some weekend. Thanks again to all of the guys and gals with the skims and time, creating such wonderful works of art for the rest of us to enjoy.

Thanks for the manual. It is very helpful. It is helping me appreciate the details in the Belsimtek model of the Sabre. For instance, almost everything that is involved in the real life cold start can be done in the simulation, including performing normal systems checks, alternate system checks. (I have to see if we can perform a flight control emergency override system check) The level of system modeling is very impressive. With the manual, I can spend six months worth of weekends just learning the little details and nuances of how to understand the equipment and get the most out of my swept wing ride. Thanks again for posting the manuals!

At high speeds, when you extend your speed brakes, you ought to anticipate a + 2 g, as a result of the extended speed brakes. If you are pulling out of a dive or turning hard, remember to not exceed restrictions, because you forgot to factor in the +2 g from the speed brakes.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but is not the optimal roll rate for the Sabre achievable at or close to the best climb speed for any given altitude? So, for example, assuming a best climb speed schedule for a clean Sabre, the best roll rate will be obtained at sea level (@Mach .69), 5000 feet (@Mach .71), 10, 000 feet (@Mach .72), 15, 000 feet (@Mach .73), 20, 000 feet (@Mach .74), 25, 000 feet (@Mach .75), 30, 000 feet (@Mach .77), 35, 000 feet (@Mach .79), 40, 000 feet (@Mach .81), 45, 000 feet (@Mach .82), ceiling (@Mach .82). P.S. If my climb schedule is in error, I apologize. It is based on my memory. I don't have my copy of the F-86f flight manual on me and I only saw the schedule once. Oh, btw, the Mach numbers are true Mach numbers.

I believe that we are using a F-86F- 35 Block, that is in fact nuke capable, though I am pretty sure we do not use nukes in DCS World, at least yet. I will have to have the community verify whether I am right or wrong on these accounts, as I don't have time to double check myself, right now.

Wow! That machine is fantastic! :cheer3nc: I look forward to sim-flying the Mig-21bis, in the future. Sim flying against it with the Sabre is going to be sick, utterly fun, challenging, and rage quit worthy stuff. no doubt. I will have a lot of fun on both ends of that exchange. Thanks for the great video.

Yes! I can't wait to see her! I wonder how long she will take to make? I have to buy a new computer, so I am putting off my add-on purchases. Still, I figure that the Mig-15bis wo't come out till after the new year, so no worries. I figure that she will be a first day buy. I would eventually like to use the Mig-15bis as my main DCS multiplayer ride. I would like to be a hit and climb lone wolf ambusher. I bet the cockpit pictures are going to be great! The Belsimtek Sabre is a real work of art.

Thanks a lot, SkateZilla. I am sorry to inconvenience users of the forum. I didn' t notice that I posted the link wrong. I appreciate the back up, Skatezilla.

OMG! You are making a Israel Aircraft Industries Kfir!!! Oh, neat-o! I was going to beg for a Mirage III, but if you want to sell me a Kfir, I am not going to protest.

A Mig-15bis cold start video.

Wow! I really like your screenies! You have a good eye. BTW, John Glenn's Sabre looks sweet, too. That plane and your future screenies will look great in EDGE. Well, actually, this plane and your screenies won't look great. This plane and your screenies will look superb in EDGE.

This is a video of the F-51D vs the AI Mig-15bis. I set the AI to Excellent, but this would clearly be much more challenging against a human controlled Mig-15bis. I added music that some may like and others will hate, so if you hate the random music I added, sorry in advance. https://vimeo.com/105038031 [VV]https://vimeo.com/105038031[/VV]

The Spitfire Mark IX should be a really tough opponent for the P-51 Mustang in a 1948 Arab Israeli War scenario. Then again, the Spitfire IX will be on both sides of that war, so there in no balance worries. Getting the Spitfire IF Will cover a lot of match ups. Just in the Arab Israeli War it gives you at least one plane from both sides. It is almost like a two for one deal. :smilewink:
-
Cool. I think you will have a lot of fun. P.S. It will be really neat to have Mustang and Sabre pilots work together in multiplayer, especially when there is a human controlled Mig-15bis in game, but even against the Mig-15bis AI.

This may be obvious, but look through the DCS e-store page for the Sabre. There is a lot of interesting information. Recently, I had a problem. My little sim character passed out in flight. I had no idea why. I had the oxygen running...Then I read through the store page and found out that I need to adjust a differential pressure regulator, while I climb out, in order to maintain my sim character's normal vital functions. There is a ton of useful technical information covered in the e-store page.

I am a big fan of the Dcs P-51D and Dcs F-86F. While I never get sick of a Sabre vs Fagot matchup, I have recently started exploring the Mustang vs Fagot matchup. I highly recommend using the mission editor to create missions pitting the "F"-51D Mustang against the Mig-15bis. Such missions add a little challenge and have the added benefit of being historically plausible. Try it out. I can't play multiplayer for a few months, but I would definitely recommend putting Mustangs into multiplayer coops, that include Sabres and Fagots.

With all of the third party dev teams, I think we will get a nice selection of planes from the 1940's all the way to the 1990's. I bet that the forth generation machines will be well represented in future development.

My favorite was Bridge Commander.
