  1. How about a cold start demonstration?
  2. Well, I really like the looks of the Su-22, especially the wing design. Whether or not I want it in game will really depend on how I take to the Mig-21 in the ground attack role. If I really enjoy using the Mig-21 in the ground attack role, I will no doubt support a Su-22.
  3. I would rather a clickable cockpit Su-30SM, Su-30 MKI, or Su-30MKA. If I am paying $50 for a forth gen Su, I want to click on the most advanced equipment I can get my mouse on. :music_whistling:
  4. The Sabre may be an interesting matchup, though extremely tough, for the Sabre sim pilot. If the Mig-21 is restricted to K-13s and has no cannon, I think the matchup would be pretty interesting. I think that matchup may be similar to a Mig-17 vs F4 match up. Even then, I think that the Mig-21 has a decided advantage and the Sabre pilot will have to be a virtual master of the Sabre, not to mention an aerial Neo. I could see an elite dogfighter like Josh Echo rocking a Sabre, against a Mig-21. I would probably want to be on the Mig-21 end of such a match up, but I would take the Sabre and just rage quit, when I could not take getting shot down anymore. :megalol: On the topic of not so fair, I don't think that the F-15 is a great matchup for the Mig-21, because the F-15 can counter everything the Mig-21 can do and can dictate the terms of the fight, from start to finish. Once the F-15 has a tally on the Mig-21, the Mig is Fishbed in a barrel. I still think that persons with little or no F-15 experience will get shot down by the Mig-21. I think that the Mig-21 will be one of the most rewarding rides in DCS. It is also the case that there will be better rivalries for the Mig-21, coming down the pike. It will certainly take time to appreciate all of the systems and capabilities of the Mig-21, much less to master the Mig-21, so there is no immediate need for a highly competitive rival aircraft. The Mig-21 can be matched against the Mig-21 and this should be good practice for learning something about dealing with future transonic delta wing rivals.
  5. Ok, I have my plans all figured out. I am going to take the Pony. I am going top lonewolf it with the Mustang. I will climb out to a very high altitude, dive upon lower flying FW-190s, hit in a one pass slashing surprise attack, then dive away, using what I hope will be a relative superior top dive speed to get well clear of the FW-190, I attacked. I will climb back out and repeat this process, over and over. I don not expect that I will consistently down the FW-190s, this way, but I believe that I can cause sufficient damage to significantly diminish the combat effectiveness, endurance, and survivability, of the machines that I attack, such that my teammates will will have much easier FW-190 targets to finish off.
  6. Thank you all for your opinions and perspectives. I appreciate your contributions to this thread. I also admire the quality of the Mig-21 being delivered by Leatherneck Simulations. Their team will no doubt create many high quality products and I wish their team the best of success, always.
  7. Some type of Sabres and some type of Mig-21 did fight in the real World. Some Sabres were down by Migs and I think at least one Mig-21 was downed by a Sabre. If I get the Mig-21, I will definitely take up your recommended AI. I could see myself doing this in multiplayer. I am kind of worried about the F-15, though. Somehow, I think it will be opposition. In that case I would rather face down the Sabre. If the cards have to be extremely stacked, I would prefer it was in my favor. :megalol:
  8. Hmm, well I am thinking of getting the Dora, Sabre, Fishbed, or no DCS plane, this Summer. If I get the Dora, I will start out with the Dora. If I don't get the Dora, I already own the Mustang and I can use the Mustang.
  9. What I really want to know is which human controlled planes will the Mig-21 face in multiplayer, upon release? *I edited my question, so some of the early answers may include AI planes.
  10. For me, the best videos will be gameplay videos, supplied by customers. Watching like minded persons take personal responsiblility for endorsing a product, stating reasons why they like the product, and demonstrating, through a gameplay video, their enjoying themselves using the product, really helps me make decisions about what I might like to purchase or not.
  11. I thought that the Mig-21bis was out later on, 1978 or so. I don't have great info on the matter, though. I can't wait to read through the documents provided with the Mig-21bis. I would like to know all about this machine soon, now. The release should be not too long off.

    Release??

Switzerland? I admire their high standard of living and quality of life too much to even simulate shooting at a Swiss plane. If I see a Swiss fighter in mp, I will go up along side and try to simulate defecting to Switzerland. :megalol:

    Release??

So what would be highly competitive DCS flyable fighter matchups for the Mig-21bis? I am perfectly happy to hunt for C-130s and beat up white Toyota insurgent pickup trucks on a mp map, while the Su-27 pilots duke it out with the F-15s, still, if there are good air to air matchups, I would be game for that, too.

    Release??

This is why I will be going after C-130s and CIA Cessnas, whenever possible. :music_whistling: Let the Su-27 pilots figure out how to shoot one of the fast movers down. :joystick:

    Release??

Oh cool! :) Things are going according to plan! I am very happy about that. How many times in life does anything go according to plan? This is moving along as smoothly as one can expect, then.
  16. I really hope that the Bunny Fighter skin is made, because I really like that Mig-21. I know that we have the Mig-21bis and not the Mig-21MF, but we just need a Bunny Fighter!

    Release??

Yes! This is going to be an epic add-on. The more I learn about the Mig-21, the more I like about the Mig-21. I think I am going to really bond with the Mig-21bis, even if she is a clear underdog. I really like that she is a very challenging multiplayer ride and a decided underdog. Granted, anything vs a F-15 is automatically an underdog plane.

    Release??

Great news! Thanks for the heads up!

    Release??

Tell me I am not the only one checking ten times a day for that first sighting of the icon with the Mig-21 on it? Well, back to my paypal account login rehearsal...
  20. I imagine so. The F4 would probably take at least three years, and perhaps many more years, to develop. You would have to have deep pockets and a willingness to eat romen noodles for breakfast, lunch and diner, to make that plane happen. Still, I hope there is a third party dev team made up of trust fund babies and romen noodle lovers out there, somewhere, because I love the F4.
  21. Well, if ontrol tells you that there are high flying enemy planes, heading in your direction, you should assume that you have just been spamraamed or you are about to be spamraamed.
  22. If you keep the AIM-120 out of the picture and you require visual confirmation of targets, I think that a highly experienced Mig-21bis sim pilot can be competitive with just about any, if not any plane, in DCS. Flight sim pilots are like Cylon Raiders. They can come back from anything, even after making mistakes that would, in reality, lead to death. Coming back from one death after another, it is only a matter of time and practice before there are Mig-21bis sim pilots routinely downing DCS F-15s.

    Release??

I recommend that Mig-21 fans go through the very professional looking and informative Leatherneck Simulations website. The website provides a lot of useful information and includes a rough estimate of around when the Mig-21 may be ready, if things go according to plan. June may be a good month for Mig-21 fans. ;) The website can be found, here: http://www.leatherneck-sim.com/

    Release??

Will the Mig-21 be released in July?
  25. Well, our F-86F is going to be a post Korean War version, right? I think that a Mig-17 might be a better plane to make. I think that the Mig-17 was retired in 1990, so it fits our current jet fighter plane set, time wise, if you keep AIM-120 AMRAAMs and post 1990 IR missiles out of the mix and would make a very solid historical rival for the Sabre and future jets, such as the Phantom.
