  1. Hi guys I don't know anything about russian helicopters but I just saw this ad in the netherlands. first one says "crashed in Libya" http://verzamelen.marktplaats.nl/luchtvaart-en-vliegtuigspotten/575150142-cockpit-onderdelen-uit-ussr-helicopter.html?return=eJw1jF0KgzAQBu9SsG9Vo7RoRIreJMRUg%2FlZko0tLb17V6hvM3yzKzjjH83LLvKquvFTVCLIpVsQgRfF6kG53IqwIhghMObOFJsKb2GVUa4wSS64CRHwotxlM1rNmPQcwSPSLFvW5Atac3%2BZnp2n2KPP6oFl9QiJoCQwZEPTXnesCOmEcNKEewZHhgRvTTrGxxSPL%2Fif7d65ZFXQknR9kkovV9BUjD7u76ozQOrLU%2Ff9AcRYTU0%3D&df=1&fta=eNot0VuSgjAQBdC95MPvvMijU25htmA1JHEoUVIG1BrLvU8a%2FDt106ThgmDhXcEBW%2B%2FT6YFTZaGCV8Be01EcYj0uM4hQVuBhEuB8FyYJXrgQRwilULzA31hCzbHS5NKia4Hbek33cQiXJwzzcCnjEuY6gjyUsh45LdHACp4TC2N7rEJbOcZtuzQemJQ%2BKq3cq2EYHOcE4xFxh%2BGJ0GkZbYPLvTP9DuUosTkbSYm1TvYbOtSya%2Bh6L5UgKIWejrSzntORNlqquCU6GdzR4Q6BVuxwKm3DKme%2FI%2BntHiNUtw1LxQ3NiGh5RxeKvreqvZhIziuhGiR3KpoG0WdOu3gSg8T2yXxAq%2FMXPGZqRbSClrlgrKcp3c7LLxXH6WcBu%2BLrRF22%2BiJIqhAYPln4%2BfLBAgKH9%2BfzD2Nijrw%3D&fta_ind=18&fs=1 this one the guy also said it is an instrument from a helo that crashed in Libya http://verzamelen.marktplaats.nl/luchtvaart-en-vliegtuigspotten/575150705-cockpit-paneel-uit-ussr-helicopter.html?return=eJw1jF0KgzAQBu9SsG9Vo7RoRIreJMRUg%2FlZko0tLb17V6hvM3yzKzjjH83LLvKquvFTVCLIpVsQgRfF6kG53IqwIhghMObOFJsKb2GVUa4wSS64CRHwotxlM1rNmPQcwSPSLFvW5Atac3%2BZnp2n2KPP6oFl9QiJoCQwZEPTXnesCOmEcNKEewZHhgRvTTrGxxSPL%2Fif7d65ZFXQknR9kkovV9BUjD7u76ozQOrLU%2Ff9AcRYTU0%3D&df=1&fta=eNot0VuSgjAQBdC95MPvvMijU25htmA1JHEoUVIG1BrLvU8a%2FDt106ThgmDhXcEBW%2B%2FT6YFTZaGCV8Be01EcYj0uM4hQVuBhEuB8FyYJXrgQRwilULzA31hCzbHS5NKia4Hbek33cQiXJwzzcCnjEuY6gjyUsh45LdHACp4TC2N7rEJbOcZtuzQemJQ%2BKq3cq2EYHOcE4xFxh%2BGJ0GkZbYPLvTP9DuUosTkbSYm1TvYbOtSya%2Bh6L5UgKIWejrSzntORNlqquCU6GdzR4Q6BVuxwKm3DKme%2FI%2BntHiNUtw1LxQ3NiGh5RxeKvreqvZhIziuhGiR3KpoG0WdOu3gSg8T2yXxAq%2FMXPGZqRbSClrlgrKcp3c7LLxXH6WcBu%2BLrRF22%2BiJIqhAYPln4%2BfLBAgKH9%2BfzD2Nijrw%3D&fta_ind=17&fs=1 might be usefull for you russian helo guys
  2. I'm placing them gradually and they look cool so thanks. Does anyone know what the data box (black box?) looks like on the A-10 style seat? I was wondering because some of the F16 seats I saw on the internet had a box with a yellow caution decal.
  3. nice cockpit guys! good luck with the seat. The work is easily underestimated, but it's a great hobby. :joystick: btw: Haha I just recognized an item I also considered for my pit. I will go to the 'Action' shop to buy an "aircraft aluminum calender" there for some seat parts :)
  4. thanks man! good luck on the russian seat, looks pretty complicated! yesterday I made the left seat side rail. and the harness locking handle is made out of 1 piece aluminum. the black knob is from a "garden fence lock" I found at the hardware store. Put some polymer filler in it to attach it to the aluminum.
  5. Some small progress. I made the cushion out of 1 square cushion I got for 5 euro's at the hardware store. I cut it and folded the edges around the new shapes and put some Bison fabric glue on it. It will be painted in a while. Here is how I made 1 piece of aluminum for the sides for all the handles. It is one piece of aluminum folded and hammered into shape. Some small screws and bison multifunctional glue did the rest. I used a polymer filler for the edges, they will be customized and painted tomorrow.
  6. I don't have a CNC machine, but ordered it at a very capable dutch company. http://www.wecommunicate.nl/nl_cases/index.php I will be looking at panel building after this summer. I'm making some small progress on the seat. Tonight I'll be working on the aluminum seat sides for all the handles.
  7. JCamel: for the beta I just installed DCS World and the A-10C module and I was good to go, no actions required.
  8. Eagle Dynamics, GREAT JOB! that's quite a load of updates for all sims. did anyone notice increased fps/stability? first thing i'll do when I'm home from work is get the updates :pilotfly:
  9. Today I finished the backrest. 0.5mm aluminum. First sheet didn't make it :megalol:. Then I found out (on the internets) that leaving the sheet uncut until the end is better. First I shaped the round curve for the lower back, then I attached it. I made some horizontal sticks inside the seat to support the aluminum. It's not the best backrest there is but I am very happy. There will be some isolation PU material on it so you won't see the small differences anyway.
  10. wow man! that's awesome. Is the pc still performing well with the three projectors?
  11. just finished the seatpan. inspired by Red Dog (F16) I used 0.5mm aluminum and cut it with a simple sharp tool, as you bend it a couple of times you have a nice straight cut. Then I punched some holes in it with a big nail and put the screws in.
  12. I'm also curious what an ideal transition would be from terrainmasking (low&slow) to a popup attack. like how many miles before you reach the target do you put the flaps up,disable the speedbrake (if applicable) and with what speed do you initiate the popup?

    The Cube

yeah I believe 3 projectors and a new graphics card will do the trick better for me. Save some more money and taking it easy is better then jumping into something that possibly causes some troubles. and you are absolutely right (never thought about it myself) that a big static picture of course is more immersive. I wil follow this thread closely for inspiration! the cube idea is awesome.

would it be reasonable to make a single projector setup with the "same" effect with TrackIR? My idea is to make a platform with servo motors with a projector on top of it. (just like the "eye" on the TGP) The projector can only swivel to the left/right and up/down. Link it to a trackIR system. And if you move your head the projector image will move with your eyesight. The in game visuals will follow the trackIR simultanious with the projected image. The TrackIR movement ingame is limited in horizontal and vertical movement. As long as you dont turn your neck as fast as roadrunner you will have something cool. this is only a little brainstorm.
  15. decals arrived today in The Netherlands. nice and clear stuff!
  16. great stuff! I like all the lighting. These hobby projects get out of control pretty fast don't they :D can I ask you how you made the seatpan/backrest area on your old F16 seat?
  17. here are some more progress pics. I am very busy at work and so on so the evening is my building time. I put the sitting part together and glued/nailed some small stuff on the headrest/container area. edit: today I attached the 2 major parts. Now its beginning to look like a seat.
  18. I totally forgot! entschuldigung:
  19. I'm working on the magic seat now. The lst picture shows the rough setup. I want to make sure that it is comfortable and slightly realistic before I put it together definately. Thinking about making the backrest/seatpan with some thin wood or 0.5mm aluminium. After that is done I am going to sandpaper and prime it three times and throw some paint on it. When I receive the decals from DeadMan the decals will be given a nice new home.
  20. google pics will never match the quality of The high grade VINYL decals with some of them that you will never find. If you are serious enough to make a pit, then this is a must have. DM thanks for all the work and effort (and $$) you put into this project to make these available for the community.
  21. I don't know, thought it was an F16 type seat with just an alternate side panel. The .rar contains the free .dwg cad drawing. The PDF is the manual by speedone. DM=Decal Mania!!! HowToAceII.PDF aces ii seat.rar
  22. I'm thinking about selling one of my APU fire pull handles. I have two of them Marked US Unserviceable but the internal (red) caution lights still work. Pulling mechanism is intact. These are not from the A-10C but the older model. I don't know how much it is worth. maybe someone can look at the numbers and might be able to trace it back to a certain A-10?
  23. thx guys, your pits give me a lot of inspiration, Here is a small update on some parts I managed to get my Hands on: I got myself: Some knobs, an oxygen panel and a Floodlight! :) I also found 2 APU Fire Pull handles. I don't really know what do Right now, make them into 2 Fire L and R eng. modules. That will be a pity of the original markings. I think I will only us 1 for the APU and make the L and R engine handles myself Although they are marked US (unserviceable) my brother found out that some of the wire combo's still work and we lit them up :) nice to see a handle from 1978/79 that still works! The Oxy panel is from 7 AVR 81'(Avril= french for april? ) So could be from a french F-something. these are little pieces of history that I love to put to use in my pit.
  24. I'm making the black one myself with a bathroom floormat. With long hairs and bright black colour. Below this I wil make some foam padding for the cushioning function. http://www.voordeelmuis.nl/img/gif240/979/979568.gif
  25. I will use the decals wisely , i found a file that has an alternate a-10 style side design. Attempting to make all the little toys like handles myself.
