  1. I'm quite impressed that it looks as good as it does really.
  2. Does the same apply to rockets do you think? I can't test it at the moment.
  3. I feel that we should be able to use the ADF systems that we have available to us. Perhaps not something like Detrola that would never have been seen in the Caucasus.
  4. Possibly it never will be for reasons unknown to me.
  5. The best kind of missile! And 14 mk82s for when you've run out of real opponents to shoot at.
  6. Well we know almost for certain that a MiG-23 is on the list don't we? Not sure if any of them had air to ground radar... MLD? Maybe not even that.
  7. Just because you can release mk.82s from the rail adapter doesn't necessarily make it a bombcat does it? I thought even the vanilla F-14A was compatible with iron bombs from the off just with no real way to aim them. Which, in the early 1970's wasn't really thought to be very necessary if you've got 20 or so of them.
  8. Tomcat will murder the MiG-21 in most instances unless the MiG pilot knows what he's doing to avoid being detected by the Tomcat. A rear quarter dive with the radar off with an IR missile will be a viable tactic for the manned-missile types I feel. Pop-up attacks from out of the hills should work too. At very high altitudes I don't feel like a MiG-21 can outmanoeuvre an AIM-54C at least not without a big drop in altitude. But we don't know which phoenix we're getting it should be interesting to see if we can avoid phoenixes in MiG-21s. EDIT: Of course. Weird things happen in DCS Multiplayer and I expect to see some really great videos from both perspectives.
  9. Yeah it's very hard to say exactly what to expect, the late 90's F-14s had very impressive A2G capabilities but quite a lot of that stuff wasn't really in service very long. I'll be content with whatever we get though since the capabilities out Tomcats lack will be made up for by our Hornets. It's like an ideal form of the US Navy from the mid '90's
  10. They can all mount a load of some 16 or so Mk-82s between the engine nacelles. It's all unguided though so it's really old school in that regard. No support for FFARs or any kind of LGB on the normal version, only iron bombs. But to be fair, you can get quite a few on there and you can go very fast so you can almost use it like a mini B-58 if you get good at it.
  11. Nein nein nein nein nein nein.
  12. Well if the snake is what the Mirage has then snake is what I'll use. It doesn't look too bad to me
  13. Today is the last day of February. How exciting.
  14. Yeah well these things happen.
  15. That's the worst possible choice of music for that trailer. Gearbox all over.
  16. Much like in real warfare!
  17. I think we all understand that Dassault is one of the hardest companies to work with based on what we know of other projects. Thanks for being candid with what we can expect in that regard Zeus, I think that if a good approximation can be made (And I'm sure you're all capable of that) then we'll have a sim that we can enjoy nontheless.
  18. Oh right... outstanding.
  19. I forgot the Ka-50 had a cargo hook, good idea.
  20. Interesting. Are there any specific named battles or sorties that you can think of that I might research where Soviet (or Afghan) MiG-21s played a significant role? The upshot of this is that I'd like to research things like typical armament/ doctrine and the kind of ground forces that they would be employed against. I'm guessing you'd send fast strike aircraft against targets that are expected to be too hard for the helicopter forces to deal with, high concentrations of MANPADS and the like.
  21. Yes I know that. I'm interested in the employment of MiG-21 in the strike role by Soviet forces.
  22. I would like to know much more about MiG-21s in Afghanistan. I thought by then they were pretty keen on the MiG-23 for the strike fighter role and the afghans didn't have very many aircraft to intercept.
  23. That would be kind of incredible. You could have the same physics system interact with aircraft landing gear on runways and stuff. You could also have the terrain deform when bombs and rockets hit it. That would add so much But as far as I know it's next to impossible to generate a map the size of the Caucasus using that engine, it would take forever to load and run at 2fps for the best of machines.
  24. Nice work Zilch, most American museums I've seen have aircraft cockpits blanked out or frosted or something so you can't see in. I'm glad to see that this isn't the totality of them.
  25. I'm sure what you say is true but just like the radio navigation system I doubt it'll ever be looked at. Everyone seems much more interested in slotting doras and arguing about fuel types than simulating the aircraft and its weapons.
