  1. Pls don't mix up what was meant serious and what not. Forum error: Unknown message function detected [roleplaying][/roleplaying] To be honest, your opinion is fine too and theres no real feelings about relationships. However hold tight, you mind see more casual flightsimmers. They will yank the tranny alot harder lol.
  2. Some AV softwares also sandbox running applications in a virtual environment for realtime scanning and behaviour control. Each brand has their own fancy name for it. Basicly this overrides the OS security control and seprates the running software from the main environment. This can cause trouble with more complex software though. Like games in particular. It slows your system down too. Yes, it's safer, but at what cost. Safety is relative, fear runs in the mind for the most part. Rent pron, don't DL or stream it = win.
  3. I'm affraid this isn't only related to helicopters. It seems to have an effect on all aircraft. So the problem could as well be in the carriers themselves. I've created a quickmission with AI only doing carrier ops. 4 carriers, 2 blue and 2 red. On 1 of each coalition heli ops. 2 seperate launching heli groups and 2 seperate groups landing. On the other carrier on each coalition fighter ops. First a squadron is launched at maximum catapult capability, after that 4 seperate groups will launch and land on the carrier. Aircraft seem to float and sink into the carrier, the tower seems non-existant for AI and collision is not a crash. After the fighter landings it's clearly visible that the ship seems to be moving on waves and carriersurface detection for aircraft doesn't seem to move along.
  4. Hey Bosoff.....it must have been a lost Higgs particle and bounced of your HD....
  5. Nothing is absolute in life. There's also people that like both hardcore and very casual. Telling people to stay away because they're slightly more casual is very short around the corner. Plus. I'm not sure if you've noticed that Mr. Wags last online promotional adventure was smack in the middle of mainstream FSX players. A big chunk of extra FSX players will help DCS become better too. There's more money on the table..... [roleplaying]PS. Do is see a 51st pretending to have a voice in 104th? Isn't that like scandinavia taxing the wearing of burka's in Saudi Arabia?[/roleplaying]
  6. I've started memorising every damn hill in DCS since i've played on 104th server. That seemed to help a bit in terms of situational awareness. :music_whistling: Personaly i like to at least see the coalition you're in on the map, when the mission doesn't show this, then it's most likely a feature in difficultylevel. No outside F10 view is similar, however when it's turned off, you miss a vital part in beauty of a game. I'm afraid the 104th puts more weight on realism than showing off beauty. It's kind of their opinion and view on how to play DCS and they're entitled to that opinion.
  7. Isn't 300 ping 0.3 seconds delay?
  8. I'm afraid you're suffering from a lack of Australian servers and the geological position of the continent itself compared to the continents where the popular servers are based. From northern Europe to Australia i have 250-300 ping too. The signal is bound to the maximum speed of the electrons in an electric current. This is below lightspeed. An electron in a coaxcable goes for about 70% lightspeed, so let's say it will go in ideal situations 75% of lightspeed. Lightspeed is 300.000 km/s. Amsterdam - Sydney is for about 16633 km. -> 225.000 km/s / 16633 km = 0.0739 sec. = 74 PING. But this is for a single electron on a direct line, the actual distance is much longer when it needs to go over networks, through datacenters, providers, countryhubs and the extra wires at all these locations. Even political situations play a role in this. When you have a ping of 300 the signal could have traveled over 66.000 kilometers! This is 1.6x around the earth over the equator.
  9. 1. FC3 is in OPEN BETA and a work in progress, it makes sense everything will be of equal specs on the final release. The older elements are a direct copy from FC2. Every update FC3 will be moar shiney. See this as a transitionperiod. 2. The FC2 manual applies in most cases, the FC3 manual isn't finished yet because the module itself isn't finished yet. You can only have a manual on something when it's physicaly created thus creates a need for a manual.
  10. Engine off, cockpit open and external lights off?
  11. When i try to put the Carl Vinson in a mission in the editor only single aircraft instead of squadrons can be launched. The F18 kind of hovers slightly abovethe carrier and drops on launch. When you use 4 F18's at once (4 catapults), number 2 and 3 always die. Number 4 rejoins with number 1. The little drop before launch make the AI tailfins to drop down and corrects after launch after a little drop. I haven't checked the behaviour when the mission runs on a separate machine as a server.
  12. Then i think we're all on the same page. Isn't this behaviour controled or overridden by how the Win OS and the graphicsdriver work together?
  13. Grounded wallsockets ftw. That's what the 3rd wire is for on 230V powersupplies. I don't know how these things are when you have the older 115V sockets.
  14. And the issue is that DCS doesn't minimize anymore? Perhaps the fact that it minimized in the past in windowed mode was in fact an issue. It should only minimize when you have more than 1 screen, click on one and DCS is fullscreen on the other with let's say extended desktop settings. Is this what you're talking about?
  15. It must have been a lost Higgs particle and bounced of your HD.
  16. Planet earth is Ferenginar. 198th rule of aquisition: A contract, is a contract, is a contract.
  17. Nice work guys, killboards.....yummie
  18. After some testing Servman seems to function like in the released version Servman 3.0.1 RC1.
  19. He hunts me too in the mirror. Only solution: stick my own head in my behind.
  20. Aren't all the cool administrationtools removed now in Windows 8? It's likely possible i'll end up using it, but it won't be after SP1 is released.
  21. Norton has always been interupting gameplay since they exist. I'm sorry to tell you, but it's the main reason i decided many years ago that a good antivirussolution doesn't have to be the most expensive one or even a paid product. When you don't go to obscure websites and have your firewall inbounds setup correctly you don't even need antivirus continuesly active. Only when you want to scan. Most popular browsers will alert you in most cases when something is wrong with a website or location in the first place. These kind of software producers like the fact that there runs fear and a false sense of security inside a population, that's where their money comes from. The biggest risk factor is having a local emailclient. So when you use cloudbased email, don't visit unknown tv/movie/pron websites etc. and don't install every little thing there is to be installed then you'll have more trouble from an active antivirus instead of easygoing. Mostly you don't see and feel it, but it's there always being the pain the behind.
  22. Look in 'DCS World/Bin/'. There you find the executables that the shortcuts in the programs folder refer to. On a sidenote, isn't Windows 8 officialy a tablet OS for apps with a granny aproach instead of hardcore gaming?
  23. Wasn't in page 3 mentioned to turn off anti-virus and firewall?
