Well, thanks in large part to this thread I've gone ahead and purchased the grovey game gear board and I just returned from Radio Shack with a bunch of switches. I'm going to build something simple I'm calling my 'Fence In, Fence Out' board. Something with the Flaps, Gear and all the switches you need to turn on/off when going fence in. Most of the switches I'm going to use are pretty straight forward, either on/off SPDT or SPDT with a middle off state. I'd like to put the 'Mode' dial for countermeasures on my panel. It has 5 states, Auto, Semi, Man, STBY, and Off. Is there a particular switch you can buy for that? Also, is a push button SPST switch good enough for the 'Master Caution' button? Thanks in advance, can't wait to get the gameboard and get things working. Although the lua stuff is going to be tricky.

Flight Qualifications Campaign
Zeke replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in A-10C Basic Flight Training Qualification DLC
Finally, Success! On to ATF 04. Mixed up things that worked, a bit of diving and very low flying afterward. Not a scratch. I either figured it out or just got lucky. -

Well after flying ATF over 20 times now, including 5 today, it's really starting to get aggravating. Dodge all the 23's and 3 or 4 missiles only to get knocked out by the 5th or 6th missile. Dodging one missile no problem, but when they start coming at you one after the other and sometimes two at a time, it's ridiculous. You don't get a lot of warning to set up any evasion if you have any energy left at all from dodging the last one. -

Yea, I've set up a few practice missions for myself, can dodge them all day one on one. Love the missiles stuff, my favorite part of the old Flanker days, SEAD missions in the 27 and 33. I don't think flying to low is the answer, it's hard to dodge those missiles when you can only go up or to the sides. I like being around 1200 and diving for the ground. Gotta be quick though and must keep jinking around those 23's. At least that's were I'm at now after trying several other things. Fun stuff! -

Been trying to get past AFT 03, almost made it twice. Landed and had the tires blow out due to battle damage. I've noticed from watching the ACMI tapes that the SA18's are nailing me way outside their red bubble. Is this right? -

Well, finished ATF 02 with a "Q" rating. Tried it a couple of times and once had a CTD right while I was taxing to the revetment. The refueling part was ok, did that every time. Oh one question though, is there a light to turn on to see the boom or tanker better? I turned on the nose light but that didn't do anything, both the boom and tanker were just black outlines. Anyway, the landing part was the hardest as the ILS for runway 07 won't come on. I think it may have something to do with the wind direction, maybe the ATC will land you into the wind no matter what? Here is what I did: On my way back I created 6 offset WPs to land at runway 25. One starting at 12 miles out 3300 ft, and the next at 10 miles out 3000 ft. First I went into the offset page, and created the WPs using the heading offset from the runway direction. So to land at runway 25 I used 064012 for the first WP at 12 miles out. 064 heading because the runway isn't exactly going down the 250 and 070 headings. I found that out the hard way while practicing. Make sure your airport diagrams are up to date, mine where not, but I found some new ones. After creating the 6 offset WPs, I created a new Flight plan with those 6. After creating the flight plan I went into the WP page and added the elevations that I wanted. Maybe you can do this when creating the offset, but I couldn't see where, maybe I missed it. Anyway it was real easy to fly down the path, just had to follow the HUD and make sure my speed and decent rate where right. Didn't see the runway till right before touchdown but I landed good. Whew! on to the next one.... -
I've been trying to contact CubPilot for over a month, haven't received any reply. If anyone knows how to contact him please drop me a PM.

Thanks Funkify! One thing you can do is move the CDU and EGI start to right before you start the Left Engine. This way you can align much quicker.
-
10 times! wow, you have more patience then me sir. :) I'm going to give that one another try tonight with the offset WPs idea, got it all worked out. Hopefully it will work.
-
Right! The first time I flew this, I tried landing for 2 hours, when gas got low I went to Batumi and landed there. But I failed the mission since you can't fly outside a zone. But I know what Mojo said about the since of accomplishment, you really do get that with these missions, I was able to refuel each time and it felt great. I'm still trying to figure out a way to land at Kabuleti using offset waypoints and such, tried it out in a practice mission and had some success.

Right, but that's the problem in this mission, you can't see anything since the weather is so bad.

ok, so that's about a 1/4 inch then, so these should work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/27-1-4-CUBE-MAGNETS-N42-Neodymium-rare-earth-very-strong-Great-Gift-/261131697695?_trksid=p2047675.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D555003%26algo%3DPW.CAT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D142%26meid%3D5033916286880420084%26pid%3D100010%26prg%3D1076%26rk%3D4%26sd%3D261090383399%26 -
Low Cost Hallsensor mod for Cougar
Zeke replied to seveng-f18.com's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This sounds really interesting. Since I can't seem to get a hold of the guy from CubPilot to order a Hal Sensor this option may be the thing. Did a little searching on ebay and would this magnet work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-N42-Neodymium-Magnet-Cube-rare-earth-BRUTALLY-SUPER-STRONG-/261090383399?_trksid=p2047675.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D555003%26algo%3DPW.CAT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D142%26meid%3D5033390144153094257%26pid%3D100010%26prg%3D1076%26rk%3D2%26sd%3D280882440939%26 Also, I take it there is some soldering involved here? When you guys say it takes time to get it in the right spot, do you have the throttle hooked up to the computer while testing it or do you use other instruments to judge? I'd like to try this for my Cougar Throttle. I already have HAL sensors on my stick, they work great. -
There is no TACAN at the airport, and the ILS won't work. I think because the ATC keeps given permission to land at the wrong side of the runway. We're talking about Kabuleti. For some reason in that mission the ILS won't come online.
-
Thanks, I got it working. Seems that having the Advanced Waypoint task as SEAD in the Orbit Waypoint was the problem. With that task, the SEAD flight would always go hunt down the SAMs before being called to do so.
-
Just a heads up on the night mission. I've flown it three times now and can't get an ILS approach from the ATC. It's not easy trying to find that runway, better have a better plan to get back on the ground.

I found this tread when searching for answers to this problem I'm having with a mission. What I want to do is have a SEAD and CAP patrol on station and wait in orbit 'until' they are called by the 'player' AC. I've looked over the mission provided above, but my guys just go attack without ever calling them and they don't respond to the radio call if I have a wp that doesn't take them into the SAM's envelope. I'd like to have them stay there in orbit until the radio call is sent. Also, is this possible to do for different targets or multiple times during the mission or do you need to set up more then one SEAD patrol for each instance you want to call in SEAD or CAP? Anyone have any experience with this that would be willing to help? Thanks.

Which version of the game do you guys run online with Hoggit?
-
Very nice to hear. The one thing about the Warthog that really makes me want to buy one is the throttle.
-
This is so awesome! Only hope we get at least one fast mover before the year is out, can't freaking wait, it's to much, I think my head is going to explode.
-
Been reading a lot about the Warthog and my cougar throttle has been acting up. Trying to get the replacement parts for it may not be easy, it's been a pain so far. However I love my modded Cougar stick and don't want to give up using it, no way. I've checked out the Warthog sticks at my local electronics store and although it's nice, it's not as nice as the modded Cougar. Since the Warthog Throttle hooks up with a separate USB, can you use a Cougar stick and a Warthog Throttle? Any suggestions/help/info would be appreciated, thanks.

ok, figured it out, after some trial and error I managed to edit the .lua file right, and I did have 'random system failures' checked. Thanks guys.
