I can't seem to get Tacview working with 1.2.3. Looked over the other threads about Helios and stuff but making a new Script folder didn't help any. Must be doing something wrong. Please help!

KillerSam, take your time and practice, practice, practice. It's one of those things that gets better with time. Took me a while and some playing around with my throttle but once I was able to refuel an entire load it felt great! You'll get there, keep at it. Also there are some great threads around with some excellent advice from other virtual A10 pilots.

Flight Qualifications Campaign
Zeke replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in A-10C Basic Flight Training Qualification DLC
Just finished the ATF Campaign. One big problem I had with the last mission is it crashed all 4 times I flew it. The last time I was on my way back home after killing all the vehicles in the convoy. Each time the mission crashed near the convoy. Today I was flying with 1.2.3 so the upgrade didn't fix the problem. -
Flight Qualifications Campaign

No sure Koda, but I got the idea from a book called 'Viper Pilot' and that guy created a mark point on the runway and passed it on down to the other pilots in his flight so they could land in a sand storm in the 2nd Gulf War. -

Worked for me! My game became a slide show when I viewed cluster bombs before. Hard to tell much difference to me, maybe less smoke. At least I can watch cluster bombs go off again.

Multiple GP Wiz 40's and Tactile Switch Q
Zeke replied to Zeke's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for the help. I think I have a multimeter around here somewhere, just need to find it. I'll post a thread once I get it done. Should be fairly inexpensive too, right now clocking in at around $60. Just need to build a case, that will add some $. -
Multiple GP Wiz 40's and Tactile Switch Q
Zeke replied to Zeke's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for the answer, that's what I was thinking on the GGG website, when you order them you get to choose the ID. Now I can go ahead and order another. By Polls I meant the metal connectors on the switches. There are 4 of them. I'm just getting into this stuff, so I may sound a little off sometimes. :) -
After my last project I've been scanning the boards for ideas on building a UFC using the groovey game board GP Wiz 40 and some 12mm tactile switches. I already have a panel using the GP Wiz board in A10. Is anyone running multiple GP Wiz 40 boards in A10? If so, any problems? Also, I'm going to buy a bunch of 12mm tactile switches for my next project and was wondering if anyone has used them with the GP Wiz 40, if so, which polls did you use for the ground and which for the GP Wiz plug in? Thanks for your help

wow, very nice job!!

I guess I misunderstand something. Here is a passage from the manual on page 544. So, I understand that 5 mil is the default mode in CCRP and you have to select 3/9 or 5 mil in CCIP mode, and MAN REL is the default in CCIP.
-
Watched the other two parts, very fun to see other tactics. Couple of things, did you find out why your bombs missed? Also, I don't believe 3/9 or 5 mil has any effect in CCRP mode bombing, I think that 3/9 and 5 mil are CCIP modes. I was looking forward to the shut down procedure since the start up was first rate. Nice job.

Ok, the Anti-Collision light switch does not work that well. It appears I have to move it up twice to turn it on, and off. Moving it down again does nothing. Anyone have any idea how to edit the Lau? EDIT: never mind, I just changed the 'Up' value to 3010 and that worked. Again, re-watched Tigershark's vid on editing the Lau, even though the Lau is different now, in that case it worked the same as far as the value's go.

pics and info on my build... Ok, here are some things I learned while building my first panel. First off, I read every page of this thread and many others. Thanks to all the guys who've posted in the past, your thoughts and ideas have helped me a great deal with this build. Big thanks to Tigershark for posting those vids and starting this thread! I bought most of my toggle's from Radio Shack, I have two of them pretty close to me so between both I was able to find what I needed. Only switch I needed to find elsewhere was the (on) off on switch for the flaps. I found that at Micro Center. The other big thing I found at Micro Center was the little plastic clips to mount the G40 Wiz board, they are called plastic Circuit Board Standoffs. I found them in the computer section where all the screws and what not are. The ones I bought are from StarTech.com and the part is called: Plastic Pop-in ATX MB Standoffs, Model Standoff3. Hope that helps someone it took me a long time to find these. My biggest concern was the Rotary switch I wanted to use for the CMSP panel's Mode dial. I ended up buying a 6 position switch thinking I needed to have a switch divisible by 3. Well it turns out you don't. All you need to do is connect each poll to the G40 Wiz. Once you have all that done, just go into A10 Options and find the Mode dial commands in the CMSP section. What I did was have the rotary already in STBY, and then I just moved the rotary down one to Off when I added the command. Next I went to the STBY command in options and added that when I turned the rotary to STBY, then on to the next command, etc... No need to edit anything in the Lua file, it worked just fine. The other Toggle's I was going to assign in Helios but after some experimentation and with the success of the Rotary I dug into the Lua file with much help from a couple of posts here. It was much easier then I thought it was going to be, especially once I figured out how to find the JOY_BTN commands I had added in the A10 Options in the Lua file. Most of you probably already know this, just type in JOY_BTH4 (or whatever number you are looking for) in the 'Find' tap in Wordpad, it will take you right to that line in the doc. One file I didn't need to edit and I don't know why is my Light Switch Anit-Collision toggle. It is a SPST switch and once I added the on command it worked just fine. It's line in the Lua file looked like this: I did not have to edit any of it. One other thing I learned was how to find the right command to add, if you don't like I did once, and you try it in your game, the game will not recognize any of your controllers. That was my 'only' panic attack of the whole project. Figured it out just fine though. One other quick thing I figured out during the soldering process, was to tie together both wires in the daisy chain before trying to solder them to the ground on any toggle. I know, simple but I had never soldered anything before so it took me a few tries to figure out that trying to solder one wire on a pole while there was already one soldered there wasn't that easy...DOH! Here are a few pics: https://www.dropbox.com/s/w585kdzmgtl9o3a/1%20640.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/ty852gran0f7c5d/1%20642.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/z3hbtgc0pq04ok1/1%20643.jpg Now, I'm going to add two more switches to turn on/off the engines. I have a Cougar HOTAS and throttle so I don't use that to start them up. What I ordered online where a few (on) off (on) toggles for that. Piece of cake!
-
Did it!! Built my first panel yesterday and today. Did all the drilling and stuff yesterday, did all the soldering today. Hooked it up and it works!!! The thing I was worried about the most was the rotary switch but it was a ton easier then I thought. Only thing I have to do now is turn over a few toggles (they are upside down). I thought I would use Helios to program the keys but I don't think I have to. Tried out the rotary and my flaps control toggle in A10 and they work like a charm. Now I'll just have to program the others and modify the Lua file. Hopefully I can manage that. Cheers, I'll post some pics of the mess later once I download them from my phone.

Just got through watching the first part. Wow, very nice description of how they do things in real life, really enjoyed it. A lot of things makes sense in the sim now, it would be real cool if the sim had a crew chief. Makes me feel guilty that I start up in 6 minutes though. ;) Highly recommend this vid, great job.

I'm starting out with a new (first time) panel and would like to use Helios to program the switches and stuff. One of my toggle switches is going control the flaps, but I cannot find anywhere in the A10 bindings in the Helios profile editor where the flaps are. Anyone know where I can find that in the bindings list? Thanks.

Here is what I understand it to be: TMS Down Long makes the SPI the current steerpoint TMS short down makes the little box in your HUD the spi (I believe, haven't really used that much) TMS Up Long sets the SPI from what the current sensor is looking at, like if you have the TGP pointed at something. Hope that helps.

Flight Qualifications Campaign
Zeke replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in A-10C Basic Flight Training Qualification DLC
Just downloaded the package, part B, again. I noticed it wasn't up earlier today, I gather you uploaded a new one? Should I just reinstall it? I won't loose my place in the campaign right? -

Got a problem with AAT08 mission. It starts in the air at 07:45 over the airport. I think it's supposed to be a ramp start right? -

How To - Assigning toggle switches to DCS using Helios.
Zeke replied to Ragtop's topic in Home Cockpits
Hans, Thanks for the reply. I was thinking that the rotary should work this way, but was getting confused from the multiple of 3 thingy in the G40Wiz instructions. I loaded up the Helios software and watched the vid in this tread. Since I'm not running any extra monitors with Helios it shouldn't slow down the A10 any then, right? -
How To - Assigning toggle switches to DCS using Helios.
Zeke replied to Ragtop's topic in Home Cockpits
Excuse me in advance for my ignorance on Helios. If you make up a profile for a panel to use in A10, would you have to run Helios when running A10? I'm just starting up a project and I want to do as much planning as possible before I start building it. I also have the same question as rocketeer. How do the Rotary's work? I'd like to use one on my panel. -
Kneebord Export for all DCS modules - I need your suggestions
Zeke replied to PeterP's topic in DCS Modding
wow, this is going to be awesome. How about emergency check lists or any other checklists. -
Here are a couple of pics that I made up for my panel plan. After reading through this tread and others, and watching the vids, this is what I've come up with. Hopefully I've planned this out right. Not sure how to hook up the rotary just yet. Any thoughts or ideas are more then welcome. Just waiting on the GGG board to arrive, probably by tomorrow and I'm going to start putting it together. https://www.dropbox.com/s/5rfn95tk8pfpbmf/panel%20plan.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/ybfdc9o6d8jiyx9/panel%20pic.jpg
