Again, we watched as the flights before us took off. Once airborne we headed out to our PUSH WP and made it there on time and pushed as briefed. We listened as the B52 flight passed Irish and launched it's payload of cruise missiles. Flight after flight passed Irish and headed on in to their targets. We were just a small piece of a much larger picture. Once at the Sweep WP I gave the order to turn on our radars and search for targets. On the way up we heard AWACS calling out groups of bandits so we knew the Russian Cap was at angels 21 and 19 so we made sure our radars were pointing that way. Two groups popped up eventually, one north and close, the other south and a bit farther. I ordered 3 to go after the closer group (it appears that 4 does not stick with 3 unfortunately, so in the future I have to order them both). I bugged both bandits in the south group and ordered 3-2 to attack them. 3-2 fired early and his missile didn't have a chance. I waited till I was within 10 miles and fired off a 120 at both targets, then cranked to the right watching to see if the missiles hit. Bang, Bang. Two dead Mig's. Things were happening fast there were jets all over the place so we reset to the east and kept an eye on the RWR. We saw one 29 spike to our 6 so we came around and quickly got a lock. Fox 3! At about that same time we got a missile launch warning on the RWR so we bugged out back to the east after a few quick turns pumping chaff and flare. We heard a splash call over the radio, someone else nailed the Mig or his buddy. The RWR was clear so we headed toward WP11 to start the CAP. While traveling west we picked up another target on the radar, locked him up and fired off another 120. Splash my 3rd! Called up the flight to rejoin once more and headed back to WP 11. While on our way there we got the 'mission success' message over the radio. A quick check of our fuel showed 'joker' +1 so we headed back to Nellis. I'm really happy with these missions and campaign so far, instead of other missions I've flown in campaigns were it seems sometimes you have to be a superman and do everything, here it feels much more like your part of a team and not the only means of success. Yea, I nailed 3 bandits but that's only because the AI doesn't fire it's missiles at the best ranges. After watching the Tacview, the guy I missed was shot down by another F15 from Ford 4. The last guy I shot down had just dodged another 120 when mine hit him. Looking forward to Mission 5!

yea, I saw that too. I didn't know he was there so I landed on the centerline and my wingman just took off again. Saw it on the tacview afterward.

TAKE TWO: This time I asked for permission to taxi right away and received clearance before the F16s showed up. Therefor I was able to take off on time. Made it to the push point with 3 minutes to spare and circled there and pushed on time. Did I say how cool it was to hear all the flights call out their Push toward the target! After takeoff, while in the Sally corridor I called for a flight check. The strangest thing happened!! The reply was, '2', '4', and then a roar of a lion! then '3'. I shit you not! Just to make sure I tired it again and the same thing happened! Very interesting. Once we arrived at WP 8 we pointed our nose at WP 9 and turned on our radar. It took a little time but the southern group showed up on radar once we were within 50 miles. Went to TWS and bugged each plane. Gave the order for 3 to attack my target, he and 4 peeled off. I figured since these guys were the only ones on radar, we'd both attack them. All of a sudden they dropped off the radar and I was able to reacquire them only to have them drop off again. Next time I was able to get contacts on the radar they were more north then I thought, so I figured this must be another group. Bugged those guys and kept a close eye on the RWR for that SA11. Once within 12 miles I fired off two 120s, one at each bandit. Just then I got a missile launch warning from the SA11. I waited 3 seconds for my 120s to go pitbull and then did a split S and headed back east pumping chaff and a couple of flares. I had no way of knowing until I watched the Tacview that one of my 120s killed an Mig29. Once I was within 25 miles of WP 8 (when we reached WP 8 earlier I checked the distance to WP 9 and it was 53 miles I believe, I just made a mental note of 25, since on the map this is where the SA11 circle ends), I climbed up and came around back to the west toward WP 9. Somewhere around this time I heard two bail out. I quickly saw AC to my front, and switched to vertical scan mode to see if I could lock up a target. First contact was an enemy and I fired off a 120 at 7 miles. Boom! Kill #2. Almost immediately another Mig comes into view and I locked him up also, fired another 120 and this shot missed as it was at a very bad angle and we merged quickly afterward. I turned quick, did a high yoyo since I was much faster then the Mig, and got on his tail, locked him up and fired a heater at close range. As soon as my missile was off the rail the Mig exploded. Another F15 killed him from in front of us. My heater ran into the wreckage and exploded. No shoot was seen! Called up the flight to rejoin and the only one to respond was 4. We flew toward WP 8, west again until we heard the SA11 was down then flew toward WP 9 again. While on our way to WP 10, we received the 'mission success' signal. Since we were close to 'Joker' we headed on out. Landed back at base with no problems. On to mission 4!!

Hey thanks Steve. Learning a lot, it's been great. Been flying DCS since the Flanker days and this is one of the best DCS experiences I've had.

Start off watching everyone else taxi and take off, very cool indeed. I think I could have waited to start the engines, burned some fuel just sitting there. I got a little nervous watching the clock and waiting for the clearance to taxi. It finally came and we were going to be about a min late for takeoff. Kept my eye on WP 6 TOT to make sure we made it there for PUSH. Tried to keep out of burner to conserve fuel. Pushed on time and started our sweep towards WP 9. Bingo, the radar lights up with two contacts, cleared with AWACS and gave the order to fire to the flight. Holy Cow! All kinds of info coming over the radio, this AA down that AA down, engaging this, this one is engaging that. I concentrated on the two bandits and bugged them in TWS mode. Once within 10 miles I fired two 120s and I can hear my wingmen doing the same (wish we could sort contacts with our wingmen). One 120 hit and took out a bandit, another missed. Got within range of another and locked him up with a heater. Fired and blew him up too. Regrouped and decided to head back west toward WP 9. Two more contacts on the radar close, then the RWR starts going crazy, missile launches at my aircraft. Start dumping chaff and some flares, take evasive action but it's not enough. BANG! DAMN! After watching the TACVIEW I saw that I shot down two Mig29s. However going back toward WP 9 was a mistake, as it put me and my wingmen inside the SA11 envelope. That's what nailed me. In hind sight I should have come back east of the ridgeline and wait for the strike package to take out their targets? There were two contacts on the radar which I still think we needed to engage. Oh well, try, try again.

If you use voice commands, this mod is a MUST HAVE!

With the briefings as well done as they are it's like being able to participate in a novel!! Just read through the brief for MSN 03. Wow, can't wait.

Started reading and listening to lead about the upcoming flight only to notice they were already starting to taxi. Yikes, started up in a hurry and took off ignoring the ATC. Was able to catch up to lead and fly their wing listening and viewing the landmarks, making notes on my map. Did some low flying around WPs 8 and 9. It looked to me like lead took some short cuts but I figured he knew were he was going so I just hit 'next' WP on my HOTAS and stayed in formation. Flew high alt CAP for 20, stayed on leads wing the whole time. I thought about going in opposite direction as lead element so there would always be two ships pointing west at the bad guys, but didn't do it. Wonder if this is something I should do in future missions. Anyone? No action, bad guys didn't come out to play. Got the RTB call and headed back home. Once we flew to WP 17 I gave me wingy the trail formation call and once I hit final I gave him the RTB call. After I parked he was still waiting to land as 1 and 2 landed ahead of 4. Great immersion, having a blast so far!

Ok, maybe a good idea then is to put the 'Bingo' mark on 'Joker' and reset it after bitching betty says 'Bingo Fuel'.

So, once you hit Joker, you should leave?

How do you complete the 1st mission?
Zeke replied to USAFMTL's topic in F-15C 16-2 Red Flag Campaign
I got the 'mission complete' as soon as my AC stopped after leaving the runway. -
Wags, Do the tankers work correctly in 2.0? I was under the impression that they didn't work right.
-
I'll keep an eye on the Mach numbers instead on the next mission. Thanks!

Thanks Steve, Love the briefs, really makes the campaign fun! I thought KIAS was what the HUD showed, but in order to stay at 420 KIAS at 27,000 it seemed to me I needed to be in burner a lot. I stayed below that to conserve fuel. Both my wingnut and I made it back with plenty of Gas.

Great mission to get things started. While on CAP we were cleared to fire on low flying aircraft to our west. Locked up two and fired two 120's, cleared wingman to fire. Didn't see any hits and tried to reacquire the targets to no avail. We decided to go back on CAP and stayed there until our relief flight showed up. Landed back at Nellis, only to have an F16 taxi right in front of us at the end of the runway! Turned hard and just missed him. Whew! Taxied and stopped. Mission Success!! While on CAP we made sure to keep out eyes on the enemy CAP to our west, they never moved toward us, so we didn't engage them. One thing I did to make sure we didn't cross the FEBA was to keep a close eye on our WP miles from WP3. Once we were about 6 miles west of WP3 we turned back to the east. Questions: How do we know what KIAS airspeed is on these jets? Also, what's a good rule of thumb for altitude at the WP right before final? Had a blast, can't wait to fly MSN 02.

Documentation for the F-15C: 16-2 Red Flag Campaign
Zeke replied to Squidders's topic in F-15C 16-2 Red Flag Campaign
ED is supposed to know about it. That was yesterday, still no word. Hate to say it but the roll out of this campaign has been another roll out disaster for ED. -
ditto, a MP campaign would be the bomb!

"This mission requires activation"
Zeke replied to SirBunker's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
It's like that in the Su-27 campaign too. Really sucks! -
It's missing. Someone said on a different thread that they know and are working on it.

Anyone find where this is: "Highly detailed mission briefings, mission maps, and lineup cards as PDF files"

Has anyone been able to get this yet? I've been trying all morning with no luck.
