  1. Depends on the jet. I can do a great pirouette in the F18 that is great for getting in the tail of those pesky mig29s in the instant action. That wouldn’t be possible without at least a twist grip. Also older jets require as much rudder as ww2 props seem to need
  2. Hence the question mark. I haven’t re-read the book for a couple years and could only remember the outline of the fight.
  3. In the book Thunderbolt! Robert Johnson talks about watching a pilot (Gabby Gabresiki?) successfully turning on the deck with a Me109. I think pilot skill has a lot to do with it too. If I remember correctly the pilot ran out of ammo and was trying to ram the 109
  4. Except for the distance from the Display port connection then.
  5. There’s only 3 settings. Gun, missile and off. The various buttons are different ways of selecting one of those three settings.
  6. I think the biggest problem is that DCS is stuck between 2 incompatible versions for the last 4 months. Maybe it would have been better to have 2 versions of Viacom instead of dealing with all this over and over. 1 for beta and another for stable. Once stable catches up to the new folder structure 99% of people’s issues will be gone
  7. I don’t use steam for DCS so correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t steam SS and in game PD the same thing? Would using one or the other make more sense then trying to combine them?
  8. Yup, and oculus tray tool allows closing and restarting the service too, but none of those seem to work on my computer to get the rift working that first time each start. The only thing I haven’t tried is usb-c which apparently allows much more power to the usb plug
  9. Anybody having the issue of having to replug the usb every computer start who’s using a usb-c? I bought the inateck pcie usb hub and that didn’t work, the only other thing I can try on my current setup is using a usb-c, but I don’t wanna spend $50 on it for no reason.
  10. If you look back a few posts you’ll find the answer. TL:DR. You need to install it differently for DCS beta
  11. Yes this is an option
  12. Everything can be installed as long as you have the room on your hard drive.
  13. Some people have found that makes a difference. Just point it at your DCS open beta install, and make sure the ob button is checked.
  14. You’re using the beta DCS with either an old version of vaicom or forgetting to push the open beta button in the options. The location of the sounds changed in the latest open beta and so you need to make some changes to vaicom
  15. You should read up on the whole Kickstarter thing. ED saved it, even though it was started by someone else Your promises were made by someone else and are being honored by ED even though they didn’t have to
  16. Stable version cancelled ? But there are many more fixes before it is ready for stable. There’s no time limit for how long they can keep working on it to make it ready- just your impatience.
  17. As long as the beta is a mess they shouldn’t update the stable, even if it takes another 6 months. Otherwise it won’t be stable at all. Too bad about certain modules but that’s the way it goes. You could always go back another version to when the A10 and KA50 both had their old cockpits (unless that’s what you mean by them not working)
  18. Also check the data page of the radar. You can set how long a contact stays on screen between sweeps. I find I need at least 8 and often will even set it to 16
  19. Which is why I think it would be smart to release it without the pre order. They take a 20% hit just to be able to sell it a couple weeks early. Those who want it will buy it full priced. Later on it can go on sale. I’m talking about specifically DCS preordering and strictly from a business standpoint. Of course I want it cheaper and faster - who doesn’t.
  20. Except I have way more commands than buttons in my Hotas. And since im VR I’d prefer not to fumble too much with the keyboard. Don’t need a joystick button for raise gear, or kneeboard, or attach catapult. All can be done with voice attack and Viacom takes care of the radios
  21. Except here the expectation is to get a deal on an unreleased product. Otherwise why do it? You’re not getting it any sooner
  22. If they’re smart, they won’t do a pre-order. Then they can charge full price right from the start.
  23. In your commands list in voice attack create a new command “kneeboard “. Set the key combo to cntrl-k. Set the voice activation to a button on your joystick. Done
  24. In real life they have throttle stops they either have to disengage or push past to go into afterburner. Unless your HOTAS has that option then the button is the only way to simulate that. I dont use this option btw, I’d rather just watch my throttle position in the cockpit and stay below the afterburner zone when I don’t want it. That way I don’t forget in a dogfight
  25. Just set up a flight in the mission editor with a path, and set the number 2 aircraft to client or player. Unfortunately the AI doesn’t really tell you when they’re turning or anything that might help you so it’s rather hard to stay with them. I suppose you could just set them to orbit indefinitely if all you want to do is practice going in circles.
