Can you download an update and install from a 2nd drive?
ricktoberfest replied to Bartacomus's topic in DCS 2.9
The only problem I had with maps, is that they can take a significantly longer time to load up initially. So instead of 20-30 seconds to load up, it could be several minutes, and then another few seconds after you get in your plane to load up textures. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Not exactly as you are asking, but yes Create a folder on your HDD called “_downloads” I believe and then use the windows shell commands mklink to create a link between there and the main install directory of Dcs I’m not at my computer so I could have the name wrong but it needs to be exactly the same name as the folder DCS creates to download updates to Then you can do the exact same think for other folders that aren’t required to be accessed while flying. I’ve been doing this with the downloads folder and some maps that I don’t use often. As far as copying the modules back and forth, you can do that, but it’s probably much easier just to disable them on the module screen in DCS. and then enable them when you want to fly them (assuming it’s not often). Vaicom freezes and makes comms menu unresponsive in some MP missions
ricktoberfest replied to TAW_Impalor's topic in VAICOM
Not sure what their refund policy is, but if you had it for several months and haven’t already been in contact with them about the issues then I wouldn’t be surprised if they deny a refund. It works fine for everyone else- even if it sometimes require a little messing around Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
This is what I have done also. Select the radio with the vaicom radio keys, and a new ptt button for srs for whatever radio is selected. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The amount of detail that would be needed to be rendered to make it acceptable as a FPS would make it unplayable as a flight sim. I don’t know if you’ve tried combined arms, but even ground vehicles are basically only there to be killed by the aircraft. Oh- and it doesn’t work in VR Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Did you do the “finish” steps? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yup. Done that one already. Thanks though. I’m thinking maybe some of the liveries. I think they can get to be quite big Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes Mostly went away after the hotfix, but I’ve got an older cpu that I think was getting overwhelmed during texture loading. It takes quite awhile to load up the textures apparently. Even after you’ve started flying it’s doing it in the background. I ended up just loading a simple mission on each map and letting it run for about 30 minutes with just a plane sitting on the ramp and no AI. Then I did the same for the next map. It seems to have worked as I haven’t had nearly as many crashes since then (I’m also running vr so there’s a lot of pressure on my cpu) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

For anyone having issues getting this to show the tabs, I went through hours of diagnosing my problem only to find that I had an old registry entry for DCS world on an old hard drive that didn’t exist anymore. Even though I’m now using DCS beta and that was correctly set in the settings, when it couldn’t find my old install the kneeboard didn’t install correctly. I deleted the old registry entry with regedit and reset my lua files and now it works (at least as well as it should under 2.7) Possibly a bug that it didn’t just ignore the old registry entry and install in open beta like it should have. I already have several maps on a different SSD drive than my install drive, but I’m sure when cypress comes out I’ll again be out of room and no more room on any SSD drives. What folders or files are big enough to be worth moving, but aren’t accessed much in flight that I can move on to my old spinning hard drive? I’ve just been using Mklink and that works well so far until I next upgrade my computer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve been using “mklink “ like a crazy person. 2 maps and the downloads folder on another drive. Doesn’t seem to hurt performance too much but loading times are longer cause that drive is slower. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Let’s see how well the control surfaces of your Cessna or Pilatus hold up above vne. Then come and talk about how that’s the same thing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Better than I thought it would. Just programmed the various axis in joystick gremlin to push a button at 80%. Then I use that “virtual button” as my tdc slew buttons. Obviously not as good as an axis, but better than having to take away a hat switch from something else. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve given up on the axis and mapped my mini-stick to buttons. It’s the only module I’ve had to do this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

[ALL MODULES][SP/CO-OP] Liberation Dynamic Campaign
ricktoberfest replied to shdwp's topic in User Created Missions General
Having forum issues so can’t really search very well... when I end a mission, should I wait until the AI has done its stuff before hitting end mission, or is that all simulated after pressing the button? for example, if I get shot down near the beginning of a turn and end the mission, will the AI flights that were programmed for different things be simulated in the background with the results showing in Liberation? -

Unfortunately a lot of people who have this happen won’t see this message. The only reason I saw it was the preview on Tapatalk. I couldn’t actually go into the post though until after I logged out and in. -
You could use something like voice attack to do the key presses for you. You might have to fiddle with the windows virtual keyboard though. Or get someone to send you a profile that’s already programmed.

What about Jester’s internals? I wanna see down his throat as he screams “Eject” while pile driving into the ground!

DCS: F-14 Development Update - Enter the -A!

OT, but what do you see if you don’t have the skin that someone else has? Does it fallback to the default livery or basic textures with no detail? Never noticed this before.
