And... most importantly how does it do with DCS? (Coming from a rift s owner) Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51

Do you need a quadrant to fly it properly?
ricktoberfest replied to hmleao's topic in DCS: P-47 Thunderbolt
Yes Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51 -

I just have the prop up and down bound to a button and the turbo linked to the throttle. You can link the prop too if you don’t want to think about it. It’s up to you how complicated you want to go. Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51 -
VR Zoom (real) toggle with a button - Joystick Gremlin
ricktoberfest replied to mak77's topic in Virtual Reality
Yes the virtual button. It should show up as a device in DCS. I use the virtual buttons in places where it makes sense. For example I’ve got 2 way button on my throttle. Down short is full flaps, down and hold lowers flaps until I let go. Up short is no flaps. Up long is flaps up until I let go. Of course the module has to support it too, but it makes it really simple to bind 4 different actions to that 2 way switch. Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51 -
VR Zoom (real) toggle with a button - Joystick Gremlin

VR Zoom (real) toggle with a button - Joystick Gremlin That works too, but you don’t need a keyboard command, you can directly bind the virtual button. Then you don’t have to worry about multiple commands being pressed at the same time causing issues. Another handy tool is the tempo option. You can have a long and short press do different things Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51 -
VR Zoom (real) toggle with a button - Joystick Gremlin
ricktoberfest replied to mak77's topic in Virtual Reality
VR Zoom (real) toggle with a button - Joystick Gremlin The way I have it, the axis is changed to a virtual button, which is then assigned to the be zoom function. Mine is a bit different in that I assigned the negative axis to vr zoom and the positive axis to spyglass zoom. If you want it to work as a toggle then the virtual button would have to be assigned as an on/off toggle The wording in joystick gremlin is to remap as a “chain” with 2 actions Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51 -
Yes this works now. Tried it yesterday. Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51

Does the HARM not loft in HAS mode?
ricktoberfest replied to LieutenantFalcon's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
They’ve said the Hornet HARM was simplified just to get it in the sim so you can’t compare it to that. If it has no range data then it has no way to know if it should loft so it doesn’t. Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51 -
[WE DID] Slower updates and new bug fix policy
ricktoberfest replied to nessuno0505's topic in DCS 2.9
Uhm, they’ve reduced the updates to 1 per month, added a beta testing team, and just released a huge update that was almost entirely bug fixing. I’m pretty sure like any business they have the ability to do more than 1 job at a time. I want old bugs squashed too, but if you only complain without acknowledging any of this then why would they continue to bug fix? I mean if your gonna complain when they fix things, and gonna complain when they dont, then what’s the point in complaining? Or at least use an argument that makes sense considering the last couple months. Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51 -
This looks huge for the Harrier. Hoping all of that stuff actually made it in to the patch Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51

To be fair, it’s not like they completely redid it. They simply changed some FM dynamics and added some weapons and update some art. I’m sure most of the expensive part of developing the module was already done with the original A10C product. After how much money I’ve given ED I don’t feel guilty at all about a $10 upgrade Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51

2021 (and earlier) DCS Newsletter Discussion Thread
ricktoberfest replied to NineLine's topic in DCS 2.9
I want it and have wanted it for years before the f18 was even announced so this will be great! I’m curious to see if the FM changes will have the effect we expected. Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51 -
You forgot the [emoji3481] Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51

Of course. 7 months after I finally buy into VR and they pull this. The writing has really been on the wall the entire time though. Constant updates to the quest while the Rift S continues to be the ugly red headed stepchild. It’s too bad, I like the rift S. Reasonably priced and ok resolution made it worthwhile to anyone who liked sims but didn’t want to spend $1000 on a headset. Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51

Integrity check isn’t about piracy, it’s about making multiplayer fair. If you could change your aircraft to whatever you wanted how would you regulate that? Also servers have the option to turn it off if they want to use mods Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51

I meant for our version of the barrier. I should have been more clear Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51

If that’s a valid source then we also seem to be missing the maneuvering tone (probably like the A10 stall warning beep) Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51

The profile will work for things such as overclocking and undervolting, but not all settings have a relevance to DCS, or will overwrite the DCS settings. Things like AA and MSAA are pretty hit or miss. Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51

How to launch VR/Flat outside of game?
ricktoberfest replied to NakedSquirrel's topic in Virtual Reality
You can use Skatezilla’s DCS update tool to do this. I’m sure there’s also a command line option but I don’t know it. Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51 -
What about the HUD hotspot detector that they teased during development? Would certainly make visual attacks much more possible without having to zoom in. Even if you add false positives it would still help Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51

Raven One: upcoming DLC campaign for F/A-18 Hornet
ricktoberfest replied to baltic_dragon's topic in Missions and Campaigns
I’m pretty sure it’s missions are based off a book, and the book isn’t about an all out war. Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51 -
Logitech X52 vs Thrustmaster T16000
ricktoberfest replied to Cpt Cuckoo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It’s all about how much you want to spend. Good mid range would be warthog or x52. I bought the t16000 bundle mainly cause my throttle didn’t work well, I wanted rudder pedals, and it was cheap. If money weren’t an issue then Inwould have gone better Btw, my throttle doesn’t stick but my rudder pedals do. Go figure. Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51 -
Logitech X52 vs Thrustmaster T16000

Yes. I bought it as a bundle but recently switched back to the x52 stick Modules: A10C, F5, F14, F16, F18, F86, AV8B, UH1, Mi8, Ka50, FC3, Supercarrier, CA, P47, P51
