That's a sad news. My condolences to his family and friends. May his name never be forgotten.

Ahh, why did I ever choose to become a simmer?! Our life is so boring, so monotonous, just like running in circles. It usually goes like that: 1. New sim, addon, patch or whatever is announced. It quickly gains simmer's attention. 2. As some official announcements start to appear, simmer's interest grows. He starts sparing money and is eagerly looking forward to actual release. 3. As the release is not coming, simmer starts to get anxious. He seeks for company of like-minded persons on internet forums, where fellow enthusiasts gather to mutually reinforce their own excitement, often to ridiculous levels. 4. After being exposed to vague claims like "When is it done" or "Soon" for prolonged periods of time, simmer may experience various emotions, like rage or anger. These will, however, rarely turn against sim developers, whose are considered something like divine beings by the community. Instead, simmer develops strong feelings of self-pity and hopelessness, with only possible temporary relief being ventilating his sore publicly on the forums. 6. Simmer is neglecting his social live and business duties, his work productivity is extremely low, he can barely think about something else than the upcoming release. He even rejects to play sims that he enjoyed before. 7. He's so much worried that he didn't even noticed that number 5 is missing in this list. 8. When the release is imminent, simmers anxiety is reaching its peak. He suffers from insomnia, loss of appetite (including sexual), shivering, and mildly increased body temperature. As the release date is pushed even further, simmer is able to stay in this excited state for weeks, or even months. 9. When the product is finally released, simmer experiences huge relief, followed by imminent urge to download and install it as soon as possible. For several following days, he will play with his new toy almost permanently. 10. After the initial fascination is gone, simmer notices first small bugs within the product. He forwards them to customer support and continues playing. 11. Those bugs turn out to be not so small as initially thought. Simmer starts to post outrageous reactions on the forums, about how he was robbed, how he is unable to play the sim at all, and how much incompetent the developers are. He demands a fix to be released immediately. 12. After some wait, the fix is finally announced, and we are going back to point one. ;)

Welcome to DCS World, where Ka-50 pilot after successful crash-landing has no other choice other than ejecting himself into the ground, instead of just climbing out of the cockpit door... :music_whistling:

Just for the record, I still have my original LOMAC disk. :) Hard to say, even if majority of the people here wants full-blown DCS standard, some 3rd party devs may come with mid-fidelity modules at some point. Personally, I'm not going to buy anything without 6DOF clickable pit and AFM (unless it's really super hot plane), but I have no problem with multiple fidelity modules as long as they are avertised as such. My problem with FC3, however, is that you get several different standards in ONE package, and that's just a little too much for me to accept.

Just came back from work and found this one. Great news, thanks ED! Can't wait to see the new FW-190, at least as AI! It means, our Mustang will no more be a lone WW2 child hopelessly lost in the middle of a wrong century's battlefield. :) First step to great future! However, to the FC3 discussion (even if I don't own FC3, at least not yet): I'm fully with Moose on this one. These multiple (rather than double) standards bother me. Some aircraft have AFM, some have 6DOF pits, some have new 3D model, some have nothing of it, some have it all. I can completely understand the reasons behind this (company resources, more efforts moved towards future modules, or, for example, AFM ported from A-10C to FC3's Hog), and I don't blame ED for it. But when I buy a sim, I want everything on the same level, not just some parts. Well, end of my rant. Once again, great news!

^ Yeah, I guess aviation is a job that is easy to love...

No problem mate, didn't mean to offend you. We all are over excited here. But next time guys, please keep your finger off the trigger until you have positive target ID :D

I'm something that's called a "Measurement technician", working for a company manufacturing car interior parts. Amongst other duties, I'm mostly operating a coordinate measuring machine, inspecting both the parts themselves and various tools used to manufacture them. Nothing special, but I'm still enjoying it. :) Oh, and it's nice to see that we have so many people around who have real aviation experience. Hearing somebody with insight into the real deal is always a good thing. I'm just surprised how can you guys still enjoy simming after a day at work... :D

I guess nobody around here doubts it. The Huey IS close, that's for sure. However, if this means tomorrow, this weekend, next week, or whatever, we are yet about to find out.

I love the sheer power and agility of the fast jets, and sometimes feel the need to fly something supersonic in full DCS quality, but for me, nothing beats the feeling of flying a helo. Not just the combat (at which I suck anyways :music_whistling:), but the flying in general. I'm enjoying every second of flying my beloved Shark, it seemed difficult in the beginning, but now I can fly this armored beast like it was a butterfly. And right now, I'm looking forward to the upcoming challenge of flying the Huey, and all the other helicopters yet to come.:pilotfly:

^ HDR Picture maybe??? Oh and by the way, another whirlybird for DCS?
-
Funny facts about Huey: 1) Weapons release button is located exactly in place of Ka-50's trim button. 2) Trim button is located exactly in place of A-10C's weapons release button. Therefore, I predict there will be nowhere safe near me trying to fly this helo...

Hi Maverick! Look at this thread. Download v170 from the link included (you will also need DCSW hotfix available on their website), install it, run it and then start DCS. It should work outside the box, if you select Ka-50 in Control options, then you should see new device "TrackIR" included in the list. Select "Axis" in the Category dropdown menu, Camera absolute horizontal, vertical, etc., should already have TrackIR axes assigned to it. If not, assign them manually. Then you're good to go.

^ I don't understand Russian any much, but doesn't the writing on that girl's back say "Go :censored: yourself Putin"???

The Chopper That Must Not Be Named?? ;) Heheh, reminds me of myself. In fact, the very first English words I've learned, I learned from LHX. :smartass: Oh, these were days...

Desperately want some help in targeting ground targets
Rotorhead replied to ozTRipwiRE's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hi, Sim Player. From your post, it really seems that you forgot to switch your laser rangefinder on. It's the big switch in the lower right corner of the targeting panel (where the Ground moving target, HMS and other switches are located). Without it, your targeting system can't know the exact distance of the target, and also your Vikhrs can't follow the laser beam towards it. -

In other words: Because they haven't done WWII planes before, they can't even now. Sure. ... And about the La-7, yes all the way! I always wanted to fly some of my favorite planes from IL-2, but this time, simulated properly!
-
Just WOW! Awesome work, guys! And now please, can I fly it? Just for a while, pretty please! I won't break it*, I promise! *well, maybe just a little :D Okay, to be honest, I'm not very fond of Huey, I have other favorite choppers, but... Hell, first non-coaxial chopper for DCS?! Gimme! Really looking forward to this!
-
^ Haha, that's where he belongs! That guy is annoying as hell! :D Accidentally, we were talking about him today at the work. I remembered that scene where he puked in F-15... (at 8:10)

It messed up FaceTrackNoIR v170 as well. Went back to 13.2 Beta 7 = problem solved!
